UPDATE 10
Riddhima sighed as Sid told her he loved her. It still amazed her how he had made up for lost time with the I love yous. It had taken him almost a year into their marriage for him to actually say the words to her the first time. But ever since she told him that she loved him too, that he was the only one she was in love with. He had been saying the words to her every opportunity he got. In fact, just as his day wasn't complete without a hug it seemed that each encounter with her didn't end without an I Love You. It seemed as though Ridz had waited two lifetimes to find a the love she could never have even dreamt of. The love Sid bestowed upon her was something she could never have imagined in her wildest dreams. His love wasn't fairytale perfect, nor was it Bollywood in your face. Sid's love was so subtle that at first she didn't even realize that it not only had touched her heart but that it had merged with her soul. Sid's love was constant always burning and never fading. If there was one thing Ridz could always count on it was her husband always being there with her, being her pillar of strength and her shield from the world. His love did not only heal her but gave her life. Ridz squeezed Sid tighter as if his chest touching hers allowed her heart to touch his heart directly.
After a few minutes Ridz took a deep breath and lifted her head from Sid's heart. Sid opened his eyes and stared down at the angel in his arms. He had once again lost himself and forgot about the things that seemed so important earlier this evening. He forgot about the news he needed to tell her. It was as though they had escaped reality and all that existed right now was his wife and him. As he continued to stare at Ridz he couldn't stop his eyes from taking the path downward and once again he saw her draped in that sexy red dress. As he saw the color he couldn't keep the smile from coming onto his face nor could he keep the question from becoming voiced, "Riddhima. Why did you save this dress? I was so sure that night I gave it to you that it was the wrong thing and I figured you would have gotten rid of it. In fact I was so sure that that is exactly what you would have done that I even forgot completely about it till I walked in the door today."
Riddhima felt a moment of insecurity. She loosened her grip on Sid and started to slowly lean back and even took a step back. Instead of meeting him in the eye and continuing to talk to him in her seductive voice she glanced down at his chest and started fingering the buttons on the front of his shirt. She was so sure that Sid would have found her sexy in this dress, that he would have told her that after seeing her in this fancy western outfit he is going to buy her a whole collection in every color just for him. Instead he is telling her it is wrong dress??? That he should never have given it to her ?!? Riddhima started in a soft, nervous voice, "What do you mean why did I save the dress? You... gave it to me as a gift. I thought... you would have wanted ... me to wear it. Isn't that why you bought it?"
Sid immediately picked up the change in his wife. He realized that Riddhima had misinterpreted what he was trying to ask. He took his hands and grasped the side of her face gently and waited till she met his eyes. Once he had eye contact he told her what he meant, "Mrs. Siddhant Modi, you are the most beautiful woman in the universe. It doesn't matter what you wear or how you wear it, whenever you walk into a room you are the only woman I see and when you aren't in a room you become the only woman I want to see. And today when I walked into our home and saw you standing there surrounded by thousands of candles in this red dress, my heart literally skipped a beat I am sorry that I didn't immediately tell you how unbelievably gorgeous you looked, but in my defense seeing you in it caused me to literally lose my breath. But now I am telling you, you have always been a beautiful woman and when I saw you in your shaadi saree I didn't think there would ever be a dress that could match it. That day you looked like an angel God had gifted me with. But today in this dress you look... hott!! You look sexy...and you most definitely make my heart go dhak dhak." With each word Sid had spoken Ridz had slowly moved back into Sid's arms and as he finished Sid was so close that his lips were only a breath away from hers. And as he leaned down to close that small space of distance, Ridz was so lost in the words he had spoken that he almost got away with. But at the last second she went to take a deep breath and turned her head slightly to the right and Sid ended up kissing her cheek once again. She felt his lips smile against her cheek and a small smile formed on her face. Sid stood back up and continued to clarify for her, "Riddhima what I meant was that I was stunned that you had actually kept that dress to wear one day for me. And as for why now? I was simply wondering why you had chosen today to wear a dress I gave you so long ago."
Upon hearing the way her husband saw her Ridz's confidence soared again and she got her footing back. She turned slightly so that her arms were still wrapped around Sid but that they now stood side by side facing the doors to the balcony. She started to walk him towards the door as she explained to him why today was the perfect day for her to finally wear the dress. "Sid I have wanted to wear this dress for a while now. But everytime I planned it something came up or I lost my nerve at the last minute. But today, when you surprised me with this beautiful bracelet for the anniversary of our first meeting at the airport I knew it was the perfect time." Sid looked down at her with that adorable look he got whenever he was confused. She smiled and reached up with a hand and tugged on his nose gently as she continued, "See I'm still embarrassed about what happened at that meeting. I was so bitter at the world that when you accidentally ran into me and we fell instead of hearing out your apology I simply...fataked...you." She ended with a quiet mumble of embarrassment. "In fact I was so embarrassed about that fatak that I had in fact blocked out that part of history and pretended it never happened." Sid couldn't let his upper hand go so he responded with, "Um, don't you meant fataks as in plural. If I recall correctly, which may not be possible as I'm pretty sure I lost a few brain cells from the concussion you gave me, you gave me three fataks at the airport and doesn't include the other ones you gave me at Sanjevani."
Ridz looked down her cheeks red as she nudged him with her shoulder. "Okay. Yeah I know, and that's exactly why I blocked them out. And today I wanted to say sorry for all of those...okay most of those fataks because at least at first, you didn't deserve them. So I was going to surprise you with a double happy anniversary and an I'm sorry surprise. So I thought today would be the perfect day for me to wear the dress I had been trying to surprise you with for so long. And as I went to get it I realized it was red. Then I remembered how you always called the color red, "airport wala red" and then I realized that the color red on me has always been associated with violence for you. So I thought today I would change the meaning of airport wala red to…bedroom wala red." Ridz ended with a slight mumble as they stepped onto the balcony.
Sid stopped her from progressing forward and he turned her towards him. Once she was facing him he leaned his head down so that his forehead touched hers and he said, "This is the best gift you could have given me today. No not the dress nor the surprises, but this time with you. The fact that you thought about me all day just as I did about you." Although Sid had meant the words for Ridz they were more for him. As he saw Ridz and realized how she had changed during the course of their relationship from a woman who didn't even notice he existed, to a woman who hated him with all her being, to now this woman who openly loved him he couldn't help but think about this afternoon. He couldn't help but wonder how much more time they would have with each other. How he might miss how Ridz's love would grow for him, miss what other surprises she had in store, miss his future with her...
