Part-7

Jiya entered the house in her lunch break & found Isha sitting in one corner with tears in her eyes. "what happened?" She asked in a concerned voice. "his wife just died, he used to love her so much, look at his eyes'.oh so much pain is there'." Isha said in between her sobs pointing towards the Tv where Kuch Kuch hota hai was being played. "Oh its SRK u r talking abt'" jiya frowned. " Rahul & Tina.i m talking about them..even though I know at the end he will find love again & will be happy with Anjali,but the pain of loosing someone you love so much is too hard to bear,hai na?this part of the movie always makes me think'God forbid if something like this happen with me, I don't think I will be able to survive" Isha replied. " I think the people who still survive & move on with life after such incidents are really strong.." Jiya said after some thinking." Yeah..life moves on even after all this & this people hiding their pain inside their heart, try to move on with the life, it is sure a tough job'I really respect their courage,"Isha said. "yeah me too'acha tu kya movie he dekte rehegi'u don't hv to go the hospital kya?" Jiya changed the subject. " arre ha'SRK makes me forget everything.i just came home to hv lunch with u'I hv made paratha today'." Isha smiled." "oh no..tune banai? Tab to jarur jala hua hoga'iss ka matlab I hv to go to the hospital canteen to hv lunch today''" Jiya shake her head." Ha who thodi si jal geyi hai'movie dek rehi thi na" Isha bit her toungue. " see, I knew it'..*sigh chal canteen chalte hai.mujhe bohot bhukh lagi hai" Jiya said & both the girls left the house for lunch.

" When I get the call from Mr. & Mrs. Petersen about finding a body in a jungle where they were camping, I immediately told them to take her to the nearby hospital" Dr. rao was telling Mayank . " who r they?" Mayank asked. " They were my friends from London, both of them are doctors" Dr. rao replied. " they were at that time visiting India for the first time, they went for camping in the jungle where they found isha .i mean Nupur's body'I donno how her body reached so far from the accident place.. '..i m assuming khai me gir geyi hogi 'but I m not sure" " why didn't they informed police?" Mayank asked. " They were new here, they didn't knew anyone here except me..& moreover nupur's condition was critical..so when they called me to know what they should do,i immediately asked them to take her to the nearest hospital'.by that time she was already given first aid by them" Dr. rao said. " you should be thankful to them..they saved her life." " phir kya hua?" Mayank asked. " They took her to a clinic nearby the jungle'.but u know how the systems of our country is'they refused to operate on her without filing report in police" She continued. " So I asked them to bring her here, in my hospital,to save my friends from further trouble.i admit she was just another patient for me then.& I was more worried my friends than her'." Dr. rao said with a hint of guilt in her voice. "but reaching here from there must hv taken longer time..she could hv died & u knew that" Mayank said in a cold voice, his face was as hard as stone. " I made sure they get her here in a fully equipped ambulance so that she could make through this ''I had no better option & u hv to believe me till now I regret that decesion" dr.rao's voice was shaking.Mayank didn't say anything to her ' he just thought 'so many things happened.. ' ..will he ever be able to forgive himself for making the mistake of not going to identify her body?'.which leads to this 3years of his life without Nupur..how can he blame Dr. rao now? May be they were all just victim of the circumstances.. .he look to Dr. rao who was still continuing her story, " they brought her here & I immediately decided to operate on her'.but may be because of that delay her operation was not fully successful'.& she slipped in to coma ..we actually had no hope that she will survive..she was in life support system & we decided to give her three days time'" Dr. rao said."only three days!"Mayank exclaimed." u hv to understand life support systems are expensive & there was no way we could provide it to her for more than three days at the cost of hospital" Dr. rao explained." & I was about to go US for a attending a conference at that time'so I had little time to think about her that time. .it was mrs. Petersen who decided to pay for her life support system for one more month.may be she was also feeling guilty or may be it was just that she felt concerned for her .i donno why'but it was decided that after a month when I will be back from US we will withdraw her life support system..in the meanwhile I asked some of my people to get information about her & file reports on police, here in ahmedabad'" " but ofcourse it was not much of help coz she was not from here.she was from mumbai."mayank finished the incomplete sentence for her. " actually I was not here & none of us ever thought she will ever be able to make it'to be honest..she was really in a bad condition'."dr. rao replied. "but your wife..she proved us all wrong..she had so much urge inside her to live'that she made through it'& now after knowing her for three years, I believe she made that miracle happen'she must have fought with GOD to get her life back & finally she won" Dr. Rao smiled. Mayank also smile, He still remember how Nupur challenged him to top the exams & almost beat him." That's Nupur for you..she is a fighter .if she want something from her heart she never gave up until she win it back.." He said. " I know'" Dr. rao said. " she is still the same'aj bhi kissi na kissi tarikese who apni baat manwalete hai mujhse'" Mayank could sense the affection Dr. rao has for Nupur from her voice..She may seems as a strong person but nupru sure made a soft place in her heart, he guessed & he was not surprised at all ..after all she is "The Nupur Bhushan Sharma."

"She started showing signs of recovery from the 2^nd week & by the time I came back'she was almost back in her senses'.."Dr. rao continued. " but unfortunately she was suffering from major Retrograde amnesia *, in such case people lose some memory of their past, in worse case they lose the whole memory of their past & Nupur's case was the worse one.She was alive but she had no life.she couldn't recall any of her memories from past.& she still can't." dr. Rao explained to mayank who was in a shock with the new information. " it is not that people who are suffering from such disorder can't recover This memory loss can consist of a few minutes or hours, or up to several years! '.usually in such cases we try to talk with relatives of the patients, check her case history, take her to the places familiar to her or recreate the moments of her life..but unfortunately with Nupur we couldn't do any of these." Dr. rao paused. "we had absolutely no information about her , I was not even sure that she was from mumbai, I personally went to the police station , gave newspaper advertisement here.but nothing happened. It was more than two months after the incident occurred & police already given up, u know in INDIA thousands of missing person case are filed in every minute & it was not their fault actually cause for her No missing person case was filed even!" she said looking at Mayank" Two months'" he murmured himself." By that time I left for US & Gunjan was back to Morena'& we all thought she was dead, so no question of missing person file arise" he said. " yeah..i can understand that now" Dr. rao nodded her head in agreement. "any ways'.So that is how Isha'.i mean Nupur end up here in sanjivani 'she may hv lost her memory but her urge for living life to the fullest was never gone.gradually within six-seven months she made the fastest possible recovery which amazed us all here'.& by that time she bonded with the people around her in such a way that they became her new family & I will give full credit to her for that..uski nature he kuch aisa hai.itni pyari.kissi se bhi mille .zindegi bherke liye rishta jodh leti hai'." Dr. rao said with a warm voice. " ha .woh to hai.: Mayank agreed with her. " & I can see that she made even u a part of her family here." He said.Dr. rao smiled," u know..i never mix my personal & professional life'a patient is always a patient to me , nothing more than that'but ur wife. Isha- That's what we all call her her,she made me think differently'.i actually had no one close to me that I can call my family'but the moment she entered in my life'she became a part of my life. I didn't even realize when & how that happened. but I really started loving her as a daughter that I never had." Dr. rao stopped suddenly realizing she has probably opened up too much."waise I never told her all this.i would appreciate if u also don't tell her..i have a certain image here in the hospital that I would love to protect" Mayank smiled to her in assurance.He realized Dr. rao is kind of similar to him in nature & Nupur is the person who as the ability to soften her so called rigid nature..just like what she did to him. But,. wait'..suddenly he remembered.. "doctor.u said she doesn't remember anything" "yeah" Dr. rao said." Then how did u knew that I m mayank? U called me as Mayank when we met first 'how do u know that my name is Mayank?" He asked eagerly.Dr. rao smiled to him , " u know this is the only reason that even after three years of amnesia I never loose hope about her gaining her memory back'." She paused " She forgot everything about her life,she even forgot her own name,except only one thing.. she can still remember only one name from her past & that name is-"Mayank". She finished with a smile.
