Hi Everyone! Naina here, with part five of the story. I know it's not that great, and it's more of a filler episode, but i wanted to establish a few things in this chapter! so continue reading!!
Chapter 5:
"So ready to get married dear?" he questioned, his eyes shining with mischief.

Geet looked at him, her eyes full of malice and hatred. "YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Do you really think I'm going to get married to you?" she growled, not happy at all with the current circumstance.
"Why of course, with Dadi taking care of everything, and probably already announcing the news to everyone out there, I don't see why you wouldn't" he replied coolly, pullng her back into his arms. "Now, why don't we go downstairs and talk to Dadi about our upcoming wedding? You might as well have it done however you want, considering you're only getting married once!"
Before Geet could yell at him once again though, he was off, holding her firmly in his arms, before leading the way downstairs. And the poor girl had no other option other than to stay quiet. She couldn't sacrifice her reputation in front of Dadi who thought she was pregnant with Maan's child.
The couple walked into the living room, hand in hand, only to find Dadi busy chatting away on the phone to the panditji, telling him to come home soon to fix the date for the wedding. Seeing the couple standing in front of her, she waved to them, indicating that they sit in the sofa across from her. And so they did, and Geet couldn't escape Maan even here. As soon as they sat down, Geet tried moving away from him to the other end of the sofa, but Maan quickly grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her in towards him, so that their shoulders were touching.
Only when Dadi called out to them did the two stop squirming around awkwardly and sat still facing the woman in front of them, who was responsible for them even getting married soon.
"Beti, why don't you come and sit here next to me?" smiled the old lady, patting the empty place next to her, and Maan reluctantly let her go, actually enjoying how she felt in his arms.
"Toh I just spoke with the pandit and he said your wedding would either have to be in 3 days or 6 months. When would you want to have it?" asked Dadi, her eyes filled with kindness.
Geet began, "Who Dadiji…I was thinking Si…"
"Three days. She was thinking 3 days. We want to be married as soon as possible" interrupted Maan, cutting her right off.
Geet was beyond frustrated with this man in front of her, but again before she could say anything, someone began. This time –Dadi. Ugh! Will I never get a chance to speak in this Khurana family? Someone or the other keeps interrupting me. she thought to herself, rolling her eyes out of exasperation.
"Oh! Main to bohut khush hoon. Just 3 days and so much work left to do! I'm so excited!" grinned Dadi, flashing a smile showing off her 32 teeth [yes, she's old but she still has all her teeth 😆] "Oh yeah, Geet, we have to call your parents! Can you give me their number? I'll talk to them and tell them about everything, you don't have to worry at all!"
The mention of her parents brought an instant frown to Geet's face. Her parents. Her family. The people she loved more than anything in the world. Her parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and everyone. They would be broken to find out that she was pregnant before getting married. But she didn't even want them thinking she would be getting married. Geet was going to figure out a way to escape this entire mess. She would.
"Um…um…woh…." And Geet hesitantly gives Dadi the number, but also says "Woh…None of them will be able to come so soon. You see, they're all at my cousins wedding. Han. Yes. My cousin's wedding and she lives in South India, so they won't be able to get here so soon. We'll just see them some other time. I'll call and tell them." Says Geet hurriedly, spinning a story as she goes along.
Dadi and Maan just give her a curious look, raising one eyebrow each. "No beti. I should call and inform them. After all, we are going to be family now, and it wouldn't be right to just get you both married without telling them" says Dadi calmly but sternly, in a voice that Geet can't refuse.
Picking up the phone once more, Dadi dials the number, calling Geet's parents.
Geet sat, extremely tense and nervous about what was to follow, her lie would be caught instantly if her parents mentioned that she had no cousins in South India! Biting her fingernails, she sat with apprehension and tension obvious on her face.
So let's hear the conversation as Geet does:
"Hello? Kya yeh Geet ki father hain?"
"Main Kamla Singh Khurana hoon [I know. The name is wrong, and I can't remember the correct name. If anyone knows, please do tell me, and I'll change it.]. Han, aur I wanted to tell you that your daughter Geet and my grandson Maan Singh Khurana want to get married."
"Han. She's right here. Yeah she was saying how you were all out of town for her cousin's wedding, in South India."
"Of course she said South India.Kyun Geet?" asked Dadi, turning to Geet for the first time since the entire conversation. And Geet could do nothing but merely nod in response.
"So yeah. We are planning their wedding in three days."
"Yes. It is very soon, but we'll take care of everything. The panditji said we have to wait for six months for a good muhurat if the wedding isn't done in three days, and I want my bahu in my house as soon as possible."
At this, Maan and Geet exchanged looks, both feeling slightly guilty for having lied to Dadi, but knowing that they can't do anything about it.
"Aap bilkul bhi chinta mat kijiye. Hum hain na, sabh sambhalne ko? Oh you want to talk to her, of course.." and saying so, Dadi handed over the phone to Geet, who was sitting around, nervous and worried.
"Hello? Papa?" she questioned softly into the phone with the slightest bit of hesitation.
"Geet Beta. What am I hearing? You're getting married? That too so soon?" her father questioned, anxious for his daughter, worried about why she would make such a hasty decision. For a second, Geet was tempted to pour her heart out, tell the truth to her father, but she knew that he would be devastated to find his little daughter was pregnant.
"Haan…haan Papa, Main kush hoon iss shaadi se. Main aur woh bohut pyaar karte hain ek dusre se." Geet looked up into Maan's eyes at the moment, which were staring at her intensely, a small forming on his face, as if he was saying to her I told you so!
After a few more words reassuring her father that Maan Singh Khurana was more than capable of taking care of her, that she was truly happy with this, her father dropped another bombshell on her. "Geet beta, can I talk to damad ji?"
"Lekin…Lekin kyun? I'll tell you everything you need to know Papa" said Geet, a little more desperately. She didn't want to give it to Maan for fear that he would spill the beans, mention something unnecessary.
"I think I have the right to speak with my son-in-law Geet. Now listen to me, and give the phone to him" ordered her father over the phone. Sighing, Geet handed over the phone to her future husband, the man who was reveling in the glory that what he had said was happening. They were actually going to get married!
When her father finally hung up after speaking on the phone with Maan for over twenty minutes, Dadi became her excited self once more. "Geet, we both are going to go shopping tomorrow, ok? We can buy your wedding sari! I'm so happy Maan, you've finally decided to get married. I'll send out invitations to everyone! This will be such a big event"
"Dadi. I want a small marriage. Just the few of us at the temple, not the whole hungama. Geet and me both want this, right Geet?" Maan asked, turning to her once again, and Geet did nothing but nod in response. How she wanted to strangle the man in front of her! But she could do no such thing.
"Are you sure Geet beta, no friends that you want to invite?" asked Dadi, worry evident in her eyes, as she looked at the girl in front of her.
"Haan. Of course Dadi. Koi nahi hain. It's just me" said Geet, getting up after looking at the clock and seeing how late it was. "Dadi, I should get going now. I'll come again tomorrow morning" she continued, flashing a weak smile at the old woman.
"Lekin, you're pregnant. It's not right for a pregnant woman to stay alone. Why don't you just stay here for the night?" asked Dadi, concern lining her voice.
"Nahi nahi. I'll be completely fine, I promise. And I'll be back bright and early tomorrow morning. Don't worry at all Dadi" smiled Geet, loving how this woman seemed to care so much for her. Not being able to help herself, she swiftly walked over to Dadi, and engulfed her in a hug, and when Dadi patted her, she felt as if she was with her mother again, the love this woman giving her so clear, so perfect.
Stepping out of that embrace, Geet just smiled at Dadi and looked back at Maan, whose lips were still in a serious clamped position, but his eyes seemed to be twinkling with happiness. Though he didn't say what he was feeling, for some reason, she felt like she understood everything.
"Maan beta, I think you should drop off Geet at her house now, and it's your responsibility to pick her up tomorrow morning, ok?" questioned Dadi. "Aur haan, when you get the chance, tell Angad and Armaan about the wedding, and tell Kripa and Riddhima that they have to be here early. We're all going to go shopping!" exclaimed Dadi, as the wide grin and excitement reappeared on her face.
Maan once again, just nodded, enjoying how nervous Geet looked, the girl, rather lioness, who had lashed out at him earlier, but seemed the perfect angel in front of his grandmother.
"I'll do everything as you say Dadi. Aap bilkul bhi chinta mat kijiye, ok?" said Maan, before holding out a hand for Geet to clasp so they could leave. Seeing his extended hand, she slowly placed her own in his, only to feel his hands covering her own as he gripped it tightly. The sudden feel of his hand sent shivers down her spine.
When suddenly – "Maan, hamara Dev kahan hain? I haven't seen him since I've come home" an inquisitive look on Dadi's face, as she reached out to dial his cell phone number.
Geet and Maan both froze instantaneously, and glanced at each other nervously. What were they going to say now? How were they supposed to explain Dev's absence?

So how was that update? boring, na? I know. I know that many of you thought that Maaneet wedding would happen this udpate, but sorry, it will probably be in either the 6th of the 7th chapters...so keep reading!
A Few things that I thought were important here: Geet succumbs to the wedding, because she is trapped after her parents found out. 2) Her parents and her family is not bad in this ff, just slightly clueless. 3) Kripa/Angad and Armaan/Riddhima will actually be in this ff. shocking! i know hehe, but they probably don't have full fledged roles. I haven't really decided anything yet.
If anyone knows all the names, or even some of the names, of Geet's family members, can you tell me? Cause I don't remember any of them, and it's killing me to figure out who's who. Plus. Dadi's real name, I have no idea what it is, I tried searching for it, but couldn't find it...If not, we're sticking with Kamla 😆
So yeah. I think that's all I wanted to say. PMs will be out soon, and if you want to be added to the list, do let me know :) Sorry for this boring part, but I promise the next one will be a lot more interesting and fun-filled, and will include more Maaneet moments!
