Part 11

I reached home and found Rahul and Anjie dicussing something.

"Armaan, Muskaan invited me to her cousin's birthday party. Tomorrow at 7 pm." Rahul said.

"Yeah and Atul invited me too." Anjie quipped.

"Good. Your bosses invited you, my boss commanded me." I sighed.

They chuckled.

"The outcome of having Riddhima Gupta as your boss." Rahul sniggered.

"Invited or commanded, that does not matter. We have to go. But then what should we take for her?" Anjie wondered.

"I heard she is a doctor. At Sanjeevani. What should we present a doctor?" Rahul asked.

"That's for you guys to think. I've decided what to take for her." Anjie said with a crooked grin.

"Yeah some silly cosmetic to light up your faces."

"Bad guess Armaan."

"Then what? Some cocktail knee-lenght dress?"

"Is she a toddler to give her dresses?"

"Then what? Say it out loud. I hate riddles."

"I have come to know a secret of hers. Her expression will be worth watching when we'll do that."

"Anjie, we? What do you mean?" I asked.

"Are you planning something which will result in resignation letter in our hands?" Rahul asked wide-eyed.

"No silly. Listen to me."

[Imagine them discussing something and it is mute.]

"Woah! Brilliant!" Rahul appreciated her.

"It will be very easy. I'll do it first thing in the morning.Anyhow I'll be meeting her in the basketball court tomorrow."

In the evening, we were all set. Riddhima had given the address.

We reached their home.

Mansion:

It was all lit. It meant that the party was going to be a long one.

We entered their home. We searched for the trio and found them running here to there giving instructions.

We went to them.

"Good evening ma'am/sir."

"Hey! Hi. Aand what's with this ma'am/sir and good evening? Call me Atul."

"You can call me Muski."

"And me Riddhima."

"So,umm Atul there aren't many guests. Are we early?" Anjie asked.

"No, no. We have called only close friends." Atul smiled.

"And we get included in close friends?" Rahul asked curiously.

They three looked at each other, as if conversing through eyes. Then they said,

"Of course! You all are like our childhood friends." Muskaan said.

I felt suspicious. Was there some other reason?

"Enough of all this. Come let me introduce you all to everyone in our family." Riddhima said.

We met Mr and Mrs. Gupta. Riddhima's parents. Mr and Mrs. Joshi. Atul parents. Mr and Mrs. Chaddha. Muskaan's parents.
And Mr. and Mrs. Malhotra. Nikita's parents.

Muskaan's parents were totally like Muskaan. Full of life. We mostly did our talking with them.

Soon the lights were dimmed. And the spotlight was on Nikita who was descending down the stairs.

Nikita:

But she wasn't alone. She was helping some lady too to come down. And a man followed them.

They came down and in front of the table where the cake was kept.

Nikita cut the cake and offered the first pieces to the man and the woman.

I nudged Rahul. He said the lady was the same woman who was admited in the same hospital and the man was her husband.

Nikita was offering the pieces of cake to each and everyone. She offered us too. Then with hands on her hips, she said,

"Where is my gift?" It was readable. She was showing us mock anger.

"We were supposed to bring gifts? I'm sorry you should have told us before." Rahul blinked innocently.

"Yeah. We didn't know so we bouht a bouquet. Here." Anjie handed it to her.

Everyone was having a tough time controlling their giggles looking at Nikki's face.
