Scene 8 - Mat Jao (Dont Go)
In SanRaj room:
Santo is sitting on the bed crying, DM walks in (not looking at Santo), Santo quickly gets up and pretends to be sorting out the pillows on the bed
DM: "ey santuddi you seen my watch", she does not say anything, DM looks in the wardrobe, then approaches the draws near the mirror.
DM (still looking): "ey santudi you seen my watch", Santo does not reply, DM closes the draw and turns around and looks at Santo, who is still pretending to sort the pillows then sorting the bed quilt (which is already done), then puffs the pillow on the chair(she has her back turned to DM while she is doing all of this, so he cannot see her), DM looks at her while doing all this, and thinks what is she doing, I am asking her something and she is not replying.
DM: "ey santudi", Santo does not turn around, neither does she reply. DM approaches grabs her by the arm and turns her around. He sees that she is upset and had been crying.
DM: "su che?, why are you upset?"
Santo does not reply (head down eyes looking at the floor)
DM: "ey santudi im asking you something, first i was asking about my watch and realised you were not answering but you was correcting things which are already done, now tell me whats up?"
He moves his head slightly down and looks up at her.
Santo not reply, tears begin to drop along her cheeks.
DM: "whats up santuddi, someone said anything to you?,................bol na"
Santo (crying): "Malik.........Malik mat jao".
DM: "kyun what happened?". She hugs him tightly, DM is hit back by her hug, as he did not expect it.
Santo (whilst hugging): "Malik mat jao (don't go), please" (cries more)
DM smiles, grabs her by the arm and releases her from hugging him: "aray duffor thats why your crying, because im going, keri duffor chi nahi, aray im only going for a couple days and your crying like im going forever, look you don't worry everyone is home and you won't even realise i am gone and i will phone you everyday, understand?" (wipes her tears)
Santo nods her head still crying.
DM: "come here" (pulls her towards him and hugs her tightly)
DM unhugs her, puts his hand on her cheeks:
"look santuddi, don't worry okay i will be back before you know it, and promise me you wont cry............promise"
Santo nods her head, DM pats her cheek and smiles.
DM: "chal lets go downstairs everyone is waiting and if i stay here i will miss my flight", he holds her hand and walks out of the room with her (hand in hand). .........................................................................................................................They walk upto the stairs and then DM lets go of her hand (because everyone is downstairs). They walk down the stairs and everyone is waiting to say goodbye to DM.
DM takes blessings from Baa and Bapuji.
Baa looks at Santo and says: "what happened to you". DM turns around (talking to htien): "aray baa isse kuch samhja (baa make her understand), shes upset because im going."
Baa smiles, Toral and Kaddu go to Santo and both put their arms around her and say
Kaddu: "santo don't worry were here with you, Papa will be back in a couple days"
Suraj comes running and hugs her legs: "haan maa, im here". Santo smiles (but still upset inside).
DM: "see i told you, everyone is here"
Santo looks at DM. DM then gives santo a look (as if to say aww, dont cry please for my sake) (as shown in picture below)
Santo smiles
DM: "chal baa bapuji, im going, jai shree Krishna"
DM leaves..............................................................
