Sukirti walked slowly under the moonlight towards her house. Along her side was a quiet Shilpa walking as she was drunk, taking deep breaths every 2 minutes. Shilpa's feet were killing her and she had no strength to take even one step farther.
"Can we please sit for a while?" Shilpa lazily mumbled then ran a little to sit on a bench in front of a candy shop. When she sat she sighed out loud to let know Sukirti that she wasn't going to get up from there for at least 10 minutes.
"Our apartments like 2 blocks away", Sukirti replied but also getting tired herself from walking the past 8 blocks. She had told Shilpa to walk with her instead of going in Pankit's car because she had to talk to her about Karan but they didn't really have a serious conversation the whole 20 minutes they were together. She was waiting for the right time and it seemed like this was the right time. "Fine we'll sit for a while but I have to go because I need to research a bit".
Sukirti sat beside Shilpa crossing her legs. She zipped up her jacket feeling the cold air on her body. She was tired of the cold weather. It was already May for Pete's sake and winter wasn't her favorite season.
"Karan is into me right"? Sukirti asked after few minutes. She knew she shouldn't doubt that but she had no choice. He was ignoring her question like it was a hot plate coming to burn him. She looked at Shilpa's way, running out of thoughts. Without opening her eyes Shilpa said, "Listen to me Sukku. Even you know that he loves you. Heck if a stranger spends a day with him he'll know that Karan loves you endlessly. And you know how he feels about the whole marriage thing. Look at Mr. and Mrs. Malik whenever they come to visit him, which might be the reason he feels uncomfortable answering you". Sukirti didn't respond to her instead she went inside her heart to look for answers. And her heart told her the same thing Shilpa had said. That was exactly why she needed to talk to Shilpa. It was always better when she was with her when she had problems to face.

"Yeah you're probably right", Sukirti replied still having some tensions but not much as before in which she was relieved. Sukirti pulled Shilpa by her hand and suggested to go.

"Aghh", Shilpa groaned making a silly face. She seriously did not want to take a single step and now there was still about 7 minutes to get to their apartment. She stood up from the bench Sukirti and Shilpa were sitting on and headed towards 34^th avenue.

"Is someone in need of a ride"?

"Oh my god, you have no idea how much I love you right now", Shilpa exclaimed. She quickly skimmed through her purse to put her cell phone in and ran to the car.

"What are you doing here Karan?" Sukirti raised her eyebrows not moving a muscle from where she was sitting. Karan got out of the car and sat next to her. Shilpa seeing him go to Sukirti; her mood did not change for the better.

"You guys sit there, make up, and Karan you drop us off. The car is so warm so I'm going to sleep. Sukku wake me up when we get there", saying this Shilpa dozed off. She was tired of walking and being involved in their problems wouldn't be the best thing to do at the moment.

"Why didn't you guys invite me to the movies", Karan questioned.

"Where did you just come from?" Sukirti asked.

"The hospital", Karan replied.

"Exactly. You had things to do"

"If you had asked me I could have pulled few strings to get me off work early"

"Whatever"

"What's your problem?" Karan raised his voice, louder than he expected to

"My problem is ' never mind", Sukirti said with equal force on her voice as Karan.

"If you don't tell me what the deal is, how am I supposed to know everything you don't say?" Karan began getting tired of Sukirti's stubbornness. That's the thing that he disliked the most about Sukirti. She could be the most stubborn person in the world. "I want you to give me some time", he said looking away from her.
