In college, Gunjan was searching for the library. She had to to a research assignment and had eto find some books.
'Yeh library kahaan hoga?'
Gunjan wondered.
'Main tho iss college me nahi hoon...kisse poochoon?'
Suddenly, she bumped into someone, resulting in her books flying out of her hand and thudding to the floor. She looked up to see who she had collided with. She was surprised to see the same boy that she had seen the other day! Samrat!
Gunjan's POV:
My heart was hammering in my chest. Why? I didn't know. I smiled when I set eyes on him. His sharp features sure were attractive. I sighed in spite of myself. I wished that I could stare at him forever. He looked at me strangely and avoided meeting my eyes. Hmmm. Weird. He quickly bent down and started collecting the books. I did the same. I suddenly realized that I had wbeen constantly looking at him and so, turned away, embaressed.
'Gr8 job Gunjan! Abs woh soch raha hoga ke tu paagal hai. Ugggh. Ab usse dosti karne ki koi chance nahi.'
'Sorry...'
he said. He sounded kind of... what was the word? Nervous. Yeah. That's it.
'Ummm. Koi baat nahi.'
He was still looking away. He handed me the rest of the books with shaky hands. I reluctantly placed my hand on his.
'Kya hua? Itne nervous kyun ho rahe ho?'
Samrat glanced up abruptly. He noticed me holding his hand and pulled it away. But I could see that he wasn't happy doing it...and that made me happy. For some odd reason. There was a certaisn thirst in his eyes. I didn't know for what...but...I could tell it so easily! I felt like I knew him. I pushed away my crazy thoughts and stood up. I mean, I couldn't know him...could I?
'Nahi...kuch nahi.'
I stared at him. Boy, was he one wierd guy! I changed the topic.
'Um...kya tum mujhe library tak le chal sakte ho? Main college me nahi hoon na...iss liye mujhe kuch time lagega...settle hone ke liye...u know?'
Samrat didn't meet my eyes. He was debating with himself whether or not to take me. I waited. He didn't respond.
Suddenly, a voice spoke up. Di.
'Samrat...ab itna bhi kya soch rahe ho? Jao!! Usse library le jao na?! Mujhe Mayank se milna hai...warna mai usse zaroor le jaati!! Arre? Mera moo kya dekh rahe ho!! Jao!!'
Samrat looked at her surprised...and maybe a little happy?
'Son't get ur hopes up Gunjan. Why would he be happy??! Don't be stupid.'
I thought to myself. Di shoved him towards me. We stood there...for god knows how long. I could feel his breath on my cheek. Samrat was staring at me mesmerized. Neither of us spoke. It seemed as if the world had stopped. Time had stopped. Everything had stopped. All that mattered was us. Us. I rolled that word around my head. I liked it. Me and Samrat. samrat and I. It fit together like two perfect pieces in a puzzle.
He blinked and realized what was happening. He moved back and looked at the floor once again.
'What's with this dude?'
I asked myself.
'Umm. Chalein?'
I asked feeling more hopefull than I had a second ago.
Samrat's POV:
I couldn't believe what Nupur was saying!! Just yesterday, she had warned me not to go near Gunjan...and now...she was telling me to be with her??? I didn't get it. I looked at her questioningly. She smiled and nodded at me.
'Umm. Chalein?'
I heard Gunjan ask.
I looked at Nupur again. She didn't seem to have any objections.
I turned towards Gunjan and nodded.
'Haan.'
Gunjan laughed.
'Achcha. Tho tum bolte bhi ho? Jabse main aayi hoon na? Tum bas neeche hi dekhte jaa rahe ho! Mera chehra itna kharaab hai kya?'
She laughed again. My heart went wild and surprisingly, I found myself laughing along with her. It had been such a long tim since I had laughed so freely. It felt nice.
'So, shall we?'
I asked with more confidence this time.
We walked alongside each other, our hands brushing together once in a while. I entwined my hand with hers. She didn't remove her hand. All my worries melted away. I smiled as we walked to the library. We would be Together Forever.
