Part 46

(Guys.... enough suspense... this part will directly reveal whatever happened in the 2 weeks.. as i want to move on with the story.. cuz i know i dragged it too much.. even m tired of writing abt the same thing over and over.. lol... so here it goes... oh and also... i will also include the parts that already occurred just so it makes sense.. and goes in order... bear with me plz.. i promise i will not do such tracks.. cuz honestly.. as much as i wud as a reader hates to be in suspense, as a writer, its even harder to make everything crystal clear so the readers are not left in any brick confusion....)

Abhi was taken to Sanjeevani right after nikki had informed dr.muskaan of abhi's condition... his condition worsened when they arrived at the hospital... nikki was in charge of the case as she first diagnosed his illness... armaan ran to the room as soon as he found out that his brother was brought to the hospital...

Arm - nikki! Kya hua isse?

Rid - is he alright?

Nik - i don't know guys... lekin according to all the symptoms of his... i think he has bronchitis...

Rid - are you sure nikki?

Arm - nikki... tumne sab check kiya?

Armaan was tensed.. he was extremely scared... he was not allowed to go to abhi as only nikki and the assigned nurses were authorized to enter the room... the case was severe... nikki calmed armaan down...

Nikki's POV

Me - armaan... don't worry... this is a case where inflammation of bronchi mucus membrane has occurred where the phlegm adheres and sticks, but we have a prescribed bronchodilator from which his airways will be cleared... usse abhi bilkul theek ho jaaye ga... bilkul ghabraao mat armaan... abhi is a fighter...

Armaan nodded and sat down on the bench... I went inside the room to analyze the possibilities.... abhi showed a very anaemic look.. i was more than certain about him having bronchitis... i paged dr.modi as he was the only authorized and registered staff member that could provide the patient with a bronchodilator...

Dr.modi arrived and saw abhi in an almost lifeless state... im not sure if what i saw was right, but i actually thought i saw tears falling from his eyes... from abhi's reaction to dr.modi, he was definitely not pleased... but it was for abhi...

Dr.modi asked me to assist him.... we both went in the operation theatre and inserted the bronchodilator.... abhi already seemed like he was in a better condition... i thanked dr.modi as he looked away and moved his hand towards his face (possibly wiping a tear off?) dr.modi exited the room through the alternative exit whereas i went out to talk with armaan....

Riddhima somehow got armaan to calm down and relax... and then back to his duty... dr.muskaan knew the bond between abhi and armaan.. but her hands were tied as there were just so many cases to be taken care of that she couldn't afford to lose any help from the interns... armaan was of course mature enough to handle it... but what armaan did was that in all his breaks, he sat by abhi who was injected to sleep...

i was stressed, and panic-stricken after seeing abhi in that almost lifeless state... i didn't even realize when the water-tap in me erupted... and leaked the big fat tears... armaan had riddhima.. but my support was the one in there... i looked away and wiped my tears... i then felt a hand on my shoulder that made me turn around... as soon as i turned around... armaan engulfed me in a brotherly-protective hug... i let my tears spill out and sobbed my worries as armaan hushed me..

nik - arm.. aan... abhii... usse. Ku.ch ho gaya toh..

armaan didn't reply but he hugged me tighter.. i felt relieved that i had a someone that understood my pain... armaan was now like the elder brother i never had... never had i ever wished for a brother.. and when i did, god gave me armaan... i am soo fortunate to find abhi, armaan.. and ridzy.. of course...

i finally controlled myself from all the sobs... as i noticed that riddhima was talking to dr.modi.... siddhant modi.... he couldn't possibly hate his brother.. otherwise he wud've never helped abhi... i wondered why abhi and armaan hated him so much..

but then... my thoughts shifted to the conversation that occurred between ridzy and modi... ridzy let a small smile out.. as she rushed towards me and hugged me.. then hugged armaan...

rid - (wiping her own tears) guys... (taking a breath) abhi ko hosh aa gaya hai (chortling) dr.modi said that the bronchodilator worked miracles on him!!

I rushed inside the room to meet abhi..

Normal POV

Riddhima saw armaan look away... armaan knew that it was modi who practically saved abhi's life... riddhima cupped his cheeks and said...

Rid - armaan... he's not a bad guy armaan...

Arm sighed and looked in different directions

Ridz let the argument pass and said.. - don't you wanna meet abhi??

Armaan cleared his face from all the tear-streaks.. but couldn't stop the tears from continuously dropping... he entered the room and saw an immediate difference from the abhi he had seen just a few hours ago.. he was relieved as he cleared his tears.. rushed to the bed and hugged him... armaan's eyes were puffy red... and he didn't let go of the hug...

The four friends spent a few moments together... and then nikki stayed with abhi.. and armaan and riddhima went to get their duties as armaan felt the same as usual once again... (this is the Alisha story again.. yu may skip if yu want. or read it.. but just letting yu know..)

Arm - riddhima.. tumhaari duty general ward main hai na?

Rid - haa... kyun?

Arm - no, just making sure that i know where you'll be (he said with a wink at the end)

Ridz smiled and shook her head.... they both were heading towards the same direction as his duty was in the cancer ward, which was located a little past the general ward... before drifting off though, armaan looked around, and saw that his path was clear... as he held riddhima's hand and gave her a little, sweet peck on her cheek... her eyes widened as armaan grinned and left.... ridz touched her cheek on the spot where he kissed her, stared at it, and closed her eyes.... (only for a moment :P) she smiled and entered the general ward....

After a while, Dr.muskaan asked riddhima and armaan to follow-up on their patients so armaan went to the general ward too... riddhima excused herself to get reports of her patient as armaan checked the medicine charts of his patient...

Arm - toh gappu... ab kaise ho tum?

Gap - bhaiyya... mujhe chocolate chahiye!!

Arm - gappu.. (sitting down beside him) pehli baat... main koi waiter nahi hu theek hai... aur duusri baat... tumhe agar chocolate chahiye toh pehle puuri tarha se theek ho jaao.. phir main promise karta hu ki main tumhe dher saari chocolates duunga... theek hai?

Gappu nodded.. and stuck out his pinky - pinky promise?

Armaan smiled and nodded - pinky promise (armaan winked.. AGAIN.. lol) he was heading towards the next patient when he heard a voice he had heard before...

(Alisha) ali - dr.armaan mallik eh...

Armaan turned around and tried to recognize her... when he remembered exactly who she was...

Arm - oh wow.... Alisha! How you been?

Ali - im good.. how are you? (tried to give him a hug)

Arm - im awesome.. as usual... (backing off)

Ali - woh toh dikh raha hai... (winking at him)

In truth, armaan never liked Alisha... he was just being friendly cuz he didn't want to be rude... Alisha was one stuck-up gal in college... even though armaan loved female attention, he was glad to not have dated Alisha...

Arm - umm.. okay there... miss im too good for everyone in this college (he said while making bunny ears with his fingers) ... don't get a wrong impression.. im committed...

Armaan was about to turn his back on her when he saw riddhima enter the general ward... he stood there with his eyes only mesmerised by her gorgeous face... Alisha stood there completely perplexed... she knew armaan was a flirt, so she completely ignored the fact that armaan himself said he's committed... she knew the "gal" was in the ward because of the completely lost look of armaan's... she felt a tinge of jealousy... of course, that was just because she was a spoiled brat who got whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted... never was she gonna accept no... she turned around and saw the girl... aKa Dr.Riddhima "urff Basket" Gupta

She was shocked at armaan's choice... "such a bad choice... seriously?" she thought to herself... now Alisha was more than sure that she could get them to break up and have herself hooked up with armaan...

Ali - umm.. armaan? Hello.. you there?

Arm - umm.. Alisha.. i'll talk to you later.. bye

Armaan left after finishing his sentence, heading towards riddhima... he wanted to kiss her in front of Alisha so she cud get the idea that he is totally and hundred percent committed... but then before he could.. riddhima told him that nikita was looking for him.... a twinge of urgency to talk to nikita hit him as he realized that it probably was about abhi... so he left the ward telling ridz that they will meet in the cafe at break time...

Alisha walked towards riddhima.. making presumptions about how she could get ammy...

Ali - soo... are you the one with armaan? (she asked directly)

Rid - (not liking alisha's straight-forwardness) umm.. may i know why you are asking that?

Ali - attitude for a behenji type like you... doesn't match...

Rid - first of all, you have no right to talk to me like that, second of all.. if you are not here to talk to a patient.. get out of this general ward

Ali - you cant order me around...

Rid - yes i can.... (folding her arms)

Riddhima was tired, and on top of that, someone was literally judging her and armaan's jodi... she wanted to blast at Alisha saying she didn't give a damn... but she was too nice... she was about to leave when Alisha started blabbering more things...

Ali - you know armaan never loved you.. he's only gonna use you.. i mean how can anyone even be interested in you (with full-on attitude)

Riddhima turned around... with a tomato face.. as she pointed to her and said - don't cross your limits...

Ridz stomped outside the ward and met armaan who was listening to the whole conversation... Alisha stood there... smiling at her small victory...

Outside General Ward

Rid - who is that bi*... (about to swear but armaan puts a hand on her mouth)

Arm - basket... i didn't know you swear!! (shocked that basket was that angry at Alisha)

Rid - ughhh.. main nahi.. lekin woh kaun hai.. aur woh chahti kya hai??

Arm - basket.. just do as i say... all explanations later... kay (winking at her)

Armaan whispered something into riddhima's ear... and smiled eagerly... waiting for her to enter the general ward again... riddhima sighed... and entered... once again...

General Ward

Rid - Alisha.. tumne kya kaha? Woh mujhse pyaar nahi karta?

Ali - of course not.. i mean c'mon.. main usse college se jaanti hu.. he's just a player

Rid - (in mind) NO HE'S NOT (in reality) yur not joking naa?

Ali - of course not babes... i mean main tumhaari bhalaai ke liye keh rahi hu

Rid - (in mind) ya right.. jhooti!! (in reality) lekin usne toh kaha ki woh mujhse pyaar karta hai..

Just as she said that.. armaan walked in and riddhima turned around and faced him... she was about to laugh but armaan gave her a look.. and she controlled herself...

Rid - how could you armaan!

Arm - what?

Rid - i cant believe tumne... (looking away as she said that)

Alisha was glad.. usse khushi ho rahi thi ki ab usse armaan ko paane se koi nahi rok sakta...

Riddhima walked off angrily (pretending guys.. lol) and armaan followed her... as expected, Alisha went behind them too... she was not one to leave without watching the full entertainment... course, she was unaware of the "nautanki" going on ;)

Fire Escape

Riddhima and armaan entered the fire escape.. and Alisha watched the scene from the corner of her eye through the door window..

Riddhima continued speaking...

Rid - you know how mad i am at you right now?

Arm - lekin maine kiya kya?

Rid - (now putting her hands around armaan's neck.. but not strangling.. lol) sabke saamne humaare pyaar ka izhaar nahi kiya... (pouting)

Arm - oyye hoyye...

Now.. Alisha was petrified... she thought they would break up and she'd hit on him.. but why!!!! She made such a trap.. but that riddhima - she thought... how can she trust him so much? I mean he was a player.. im not lying!!

Armaan and ridz were both watching alisha's reactions and enjoying themselves.. but then armaan just got carried away by their closeness...

Arm - aaj tum bahot khoobsurat lag rahi ho..

Rid - armaan...

Armaan leaned in for a kiss, and ridz didn't reciprocate.. they shared a small yet passionate kiss... and Alisha was even more angered...

Ridz blushed and then looked away.. lowering her gaze from armaan's hypnotic eyes... armaan let out a laugh and clasped her hand... they exited the fire escape.. and on seeing Alisha... armaan walked towards her...

Arm - im not at all interested in girls like you... im committed.. you better know that cuz no matter what you do, im not leaving her...

Ali - she doesn't deserve you

Arm - right.. she deserves more than me... but you know what.. i don't need to explain anything to you... so get lost.. and stay away from our life... i'd love to explain why i love her more than my life, but your too much of an insensitive freak to understand such values...

Ridz didn't want this to continue to she came and pulled armaan away... Alisha rolled her eyes and walked off... she didn't love armaan.. he was just someone that would go well with her so-called "popular status"

Then, armaan explained everything about her... and why she said all those things about him... they shared some sweet moments as armaan fell in love with riddhima even more after knowing that she trusted him so much....

That day was then spent peacefully.... things went well the next day.. abhi was recovering and was supposed to be discharged the day after...

But the day after... when nikki inspected his statuses again... she noticed that he had gotten an infection... she suspected it to be treated with care immediately.. so she called the wardboy to take abhi to the 5^th observation room that was located outside of Sanjeevani for constructive and beneficial reasons... now. Armaan and riddhima were unaware of the shift of abhi from inside to outside... They still thought that abhi was in the inner observation room...

Just that day, a false fire alarm had already rung once, but luckily stopped before any real panic occurred.. but unfortunately, the next time the fire alarm had rung, it was not false as there was fire in the hospital.... although, the observation room was the only one that was on fire..... but people were unaware of the actual fire until someone went to the back hallway, which was currently out of order because the floors were just waxed, and realized that the back hallway, which had another entry to the observation room, was full of flames, burning the hospital... it was the inner part of the hospital which is why no one even noticed it from the outside... but Chandu, the wardboy who went to the hallway.. announced on the PA system as soon as he could, that everyone should evacuate immediately for the fire alarm was seriously no joke...

All the doctors helped the patients evacuate on the lawn in front of sanjeevani along with the extra supplies that they could carry while someone called the firefighters... armaan and riddhima met up with dr.muskaan and dr.rahul as they planned out what to do... just then, armaan saw nikki from afar and realized that abhi was not with them... he remembered that abhi was still inside.. he turned to riddhima and ridz understood the panic.. both ran back inside again to save abhi... they ran to the observation room and didn't see any patient... armaan ran behind the other door frame to see if abhi was there... as soon as he passed the door frame, a slab of cement and fire fell in between... now the way was blocked and armaan still didn't notice... ridz screamed out armaans name in agony as she realized that they had to get out, but she felt horrible to say that as abhi was still in here somewhere... armaan saw that abhi was not in the room so he finally turned around and noticed that the exit was blocked.. he couldn't see anything now.. and then the flames stung him... the heat was intense!!

He grabbed the paper weight that was not burning and threw it across to the window... he forgot that ridz was right outside... the paper weight hit her directly on her head as ridz took her head in her hands and felt her balance get clumsy... armaan was yet not aware of ridzy's injury... he stuck his hand in the broken glass from the window.. and tried to break the whole glass so he could exit... little pieces of glass entered his arm which caused him to bleed... but then he saw ridz so he hurried... he finally was able to get through the window and got to ridz... she was still up, not collapsing.. but her head felt heavy.. she felt a throbbing pain stab her...

OUTSIDE...

Nikki tried to find armaan and ridzy... she couldn't spot them anywhere... she asked the nurse of armaan and ridzy's whereabouts and the nurse told her that they were gone inside for some reason... nikki was shocked and scared to heck.. as she sprinted inside the hospital... by this time.. the fire crew had come and now they were preparing to control the fire somehow...

Nikki ran inside and dodged herself from the debris that was falling on her as she went to the observation room.. she was damn sure that they thought abhi was still in there... to get there.. nikki herself had to kick open a few doors.. she ran inside and saw armaan and ridz standing there.. surrounded by flames... she yelled at armaan and waved her hand.. signalling him to come back... she then heard armaan faintly screaming... saying.. "ABHI"

Nikki screamed back and said abhi's outside!!! Armaan didn't hear.. but he tried to come anyways... as armaan and ridz were about to reach nikki... nikki stuck her hand out so she could help riddhima... a big block of burning wood fell down on her forearm.... nikki screamed in pain as the fire burnt into her skin in just a matter of seconds... armaan pushed the wood off and took off his shirt, giving it to nikki so she could cover her arm... the three friends then escaped the fire, with the help of the firefighters, and exited sanjeevani...

Armaan's hand was bleeding severely now... riddhima had fainted, with a freakishly big purplish black bruise on her head... and nikki's eyes let out a whole litre of tears as her hand burnt, stung and hurt her.. all at once!!!

These three were taken to the outdoor observation room... and were looked after... the patients who would need immediate attention were shifted to the nearest hospital for the meanwhile, as the other patients sat in neat rows and columns on the lawn... all were dumb-struck at what big incident just occurred... dr.sashank's eyes filled with fear for his Sanjeevani family, and of course, his daughter too...

Meanwhile, abhi was unaware of the conditions of the three.... he was just informed that he could leave now.. truth being said, there was nothing insignificant about abhi at the moment.. and the observation room really needed more space for the patients that seriously need the attention...

By then.. the fire was extinguished completely.. and although the damage wasn't throughout the whole hospital, the whole back hallway, observation room and half of general ward was totally damaged... the police then came and put "DO NOT ENTER" signs in those area, and gave dr.sashank the permission to use the rest of the hospital.. it turned out that the wiring of the fire alarm got loose, which was why the fire built up and was not recognized... plus the walls were so thick that even the smoke didn't have an escape way...

Throughout this whole time, one more person was seriously injured.... Dr.Siddhant Modi.... he had also gone back inside Sanjeevani to look for abhi... how could he ever leave his brother just in the fire dying? Sid had gone inside.. but had gotten stuck with the flames reached up to his knees... his legs were burnt and he could barely walk.. luckily, the fire crew had come in at the right time and also rescued him...

So then after.... armaan got his hand bandaged.. nikki also got her hand bandaged.. and ridz had her hand bandaged.... during then, nikki told the other two that abhi was not in sanjeevani.... armaan kinda let out a frustrated laugh.. as nikki rolled her eyes..

Nik - you should've asked me yaar..

Rid - lekin nikki tumne kab usse shift kiya?

Nik - just today.. he was almost about to be discharged but ya...

Arm - still nikki.. why did yu come inside? Tumhe bahar rehna chahiye tha.. aur basket.. tumhe bhi... you know how scared i was? (his eyes moistened up)

Ridz went up to him and sat on his bed... then cupped his cheek..

Rid - i told you.. main tumhe akela chod ke kabhi nahi jaaungi...

Arm - lekin woh ek pal jab maine tumhe uss haalat main dekha... (tear escaping his eye)

Rid - (wiping his tear off) aur jab maine dekha ki woh kamre main tum band ho gaye... tumhe pata hai mujhpar kya beeti? (looking directly in his eyes)

Nikki just sat there on the bed when she saw a figure standing by the doorway, occasionally popping their head inside... she sighed as she figured it was abhi.... she could tell that he probably felt guilty now.... she called abhi... yet AR were unaware as they were lost in their conversation...

Arm - lekin phir bhi... promise me ki agli baar tum aisa nahi karogi...

Rid - main promise toh kar sakti hu.. lekin yeh promise tootega zaroor... chahe jo bhi ho, i wont leave you alone... there is no me in us.... (wiping her own tear off) either we're both together, or we're together.. no other alternative.. (with a weak but firm voice)

Armaan smiled through his tears.. as ridz asked pointing to her cheek - now dimple please...

The flashy dimple appeared on his cheek.. and ridz kissed it.... armaan then hugged riddhima and they both shared a relaxed and silent moment...

Abhi came and sat on nikki's bed as he looked down.... anyone could visibly see the tears that were flowing through his eyes... he was informed about the situation and blamed himself for the conditions armaan,ridz and nikki were in....

Armaan noticed that abhi had come... abhi though, he was still not making eye contact with anyone..

Before anyone could say anything, Rid - its not your fault abhi.. come on

Abh - it is... aur tum sab jaante ho ki galti meri hi hai... meri wajah se...

Arm - abbey oyye... tu pagal hai kya? Tere liye thodi hum gaye the, woh toh actually mera tissue waha reh gaya tha andar isliye (saying this and winkin at abhi)

Abhi tried to stay sad, depressed maybe, but there was no way that with armaan being there, a smile wouldn't appear

They all shared some moments together, conoling and making abhi understand that it was not at all his fault... when abhi just realized that AR were still unaware of his and nikki's relation and confession...

Abhi squeezed nikki's hand in his.. and both said together.. - we're in love guys

Ridzy's eyes widened, for the umpteenth time now :P, and armaan just stared at them...

Abh - aren't you guys happy?

No reply...

Nik - armaan.. ridzyy.. kya hua??

Rid - woh sab toh theek hai.. lekin yeh baat kahi acchi jagah par kehni chahiye thi na? Hospital main confession kiya? How unromantic abhi

Nik - nahii.. aisi koi baat nahi hai..

Arm - (wanting to tease nikki) toh kaisi baat hai.. saali ji?

Nik - woh (tucking a strand of hair behind her ear)

They then both explained their "love" bhari night... they shared their happiness and joys.. and now all were glad as they had found their perfect soulmates (:

Now, dr.sashank entered the room... and rushed to riddhima

Sas ' beta! (panic in his eyes after observing her) are you alright? Aap theek to ho na?

Rid ' ye dad.. im fine.. (flashing a smile) don't worry papa... small bruise only

Sas - tumhe kisne kaha tha phirse andar jaane ke liye? Pata hai main kitna darr gaya tha?

Arm - woh actually sir....

Sas - dr. Armaan, aap agar iss baat main nahi bole toh sahi ho ga... main apni beti se baat kar raha hu abhi

(shanky knew that ridz and ammy had gone inside together.. so he was a little mad at armaan as well)

Rid - papa lekin (ridz was abt to explain and then sashank was called by the nurse for another emergency so he left)

Ridz looked at armaan who was dejected....

Rid - armaan.. come on.. you know papa didn't mean that...

Arm (in a soft voice) - lekin basket... meri hi galti hai (hanging his head)

Rid - say that one more time and i will never talk to you again.. sach main armaan... tumhe chod kar main kyun jaaon? Pagal ho gaye ho? Ab aajse aisi baat karne se pehle 100 bar sochna....

Part 47

Today was the small party, or lets say gathering, of Abhi, Nikki, Armaan, Ridz and Sid... all arrived at Sid's.... (rem.. before this part.. i had said that abhi and sid talk now.. just that now.. abhi still doesn't know that his mother committed suicide)

Rid - nice house!

Sid - thanks

- Awkward silence filled the house and echoed throughout...

Sid - um abhi... can we talk?

Abh - sid.. if you don't mind.. hum yaheen pe baat kar sakte hai..

Sid - okay.. lekin ab,... promise ki pehle meri puuri baat sunoge

Abh - i promise sid.. ab bata bhi do.. itne saalo se mujhse baat karna kyun chod diya?

Sid - abhi (tears were already forming in his eyes) papa always told me from the beginning ki tum adopted ho.. aur hum sach main bhai nahi hai... aur phir main bhi yeh maan ne laga.. papa ne phir bhi mujhe ignore kiya (two tears drop as he wipes them) maine pata nahi kya kiya tha lekin papa ne kabhi bhi kuch bhi appreciate nahi kia.. mere saamne maa ko who maarte the jab tum school jaate the, aur phir mujhe bhi dhamki dete the ki agar maine tumse bahot acche se dosti ki to who mujhe isse bhura maarenge.. aur maa ko bhi aur maarege...

Mujhe bata abhi.. main kya karta? Main tumse nahi, aapne aap se nafrat karta tha... lekin maa ko chot pahochte hue nahi dekh sak ta tha (he was literally crying buckets now... all the others also had tears in their eyes)

Main yaha pein aaya, papa ne kaha isliye.. main nahi jaanta ki abh bhi maa kyun papa ke saath rehti thi.. isliye main yaha pe aya.. agar main nahi aata toh papa... lekin kya hua. Main yaha aaya.. phir bhi papa ne maa ko maara.. itna maara ki iss baar maa se bardaasht nahi hua aur unhone suicide.. (he couldn't continue no more)

Abhi put a hand on sid's shoulder.. and pulled him into a hug... nikki, armaan and ridz were shocked.. cried.. and just stood there.. unaware of what they should do.. when armaan made the first move and went towards sid..

Arm - im sorry sid (with a "breaky" voice) main nahi jaanta tha yeh sab... maine tumhe bahot galat samjha.. m sorry dude

Armaan then hugged sid.. then, nikki went to abhi and tried to calm him.. they hugged as well..

It was like a sad reunion, with lots of painful moments revealed, but optimism was one of ridzy's qualities.

She hushed everyone and announced how happy she was that everything was clear now, they would get over the past.. and start a new beginning from that day itself. They all finally calmed down.. and sat down on the floor as the girls served snacks and all

Sid then went upstairs and got something for abhi.

Sid - abhi.. i know maine tumhe kitni nafrat dikhaayi.. lekin who jhooti thi... main ab tumhe sirf yeh sab dena chahta hu... shayad tumhe sach main vishwaas ho jaaye ki main papa se sach main kitna darta tha
