Part 1

Another bright and sunny day at excel college, the college's cool dude samrat had just won a trophy for the college by winning the inter-college basketball tournament. The college was filled with cheers and excited screams. samrat rested on two shoulders which were carrying him, his best buddies, uday and benji !!!

It was fine earlier, but now, for samrat, it had become a routine to listen to those cheering girls who shouted his name and waited eagerly for him to pass by so that they can make one attempt to make him get impressed with them !!! But samrat was not affected, he did not like fame without friends, and his "friends" were in the canteen waiting for him.

In the canteen sat nupur, mayank, dia and gunjan. After letting samrat get off their shoulders, benji and uday too joined the gang.

Nupur was happy, she always was when she saw samrat, because samrat had been her secret crush since she joined the college, since he had helped her when she did not know anyone in the college. And this was enough for nupur to get really impressed with samrat. Now nobody really knew about her crush, because she couldn't dare to tell anyone !!! Afterall, she had this "miss dangerous" title which she would not like to spoil.

Gunjan was nupur's cousin who never cared of what people thought of her. She loved to study and hated it if anyone teased her about the same. She was simple yet beautiful. She wore spectacles, but she wont let that spoil her beauty.

Mayank was the other "dream date" for all the girls in the college.He was a bit like gunjan. He loved studying, and was very handsome. One thing that bothered the girls in excel college was, that mayank sharma spent half his time in the library and never paid heed to that long line of girls which were out to impress him !!!

Dia was again samrat's close friend. They had first met when they were 3 months old !!! Their parents had been very good friends and their friendship had grown to be as stong as their parents. She was another college diva, for whom less than 99 roses on rose day would be quite abnormal!

Uday was samrat's best buddy, and dia's twin brother. Well, they were twins, but hardly did they share any qualities. Uday found it really hard to arrange for a date on valentines day, and in the previous year's prom night, he had no date!!!

Benji belonged to the best-frnd-trangle. He, uday and samrat were best friends. He played a great part in arranging for a date for uday whenever possible and he tried to teach uday all the techniques to impress girls !!!

So here ended a description of excel's most happening group which was all set to plan a surprise for their friend samrat's birthday !!!

Part 2

Samrat was excited, truly excited, as it would be his 21st birthday after two days, and he knew his friends would make his day extra special !!! However, one thing that lingered in his mind was that his parents will be in new york, and again, they will not bother to visit him on his birthday. It mattered a lot to samrat, but now he had become used to it, used to being felt ignored, but he knew that the feeling would not last for long, as his friends never let him realise that his parents had not seen him since he was 13.

Suddenly, a voice was heard,"Samrat, why don't you say anything? Milkshake, burgers or anything else?". It took a while for samrat to return to his senses. He blinked twice, only to find benji staring at him with widened eyes,"dude, what happened? Are you even listening?", asked benji. Samrat tried to get the sad thoughts out of his mind, he did not want to upset his friends."Nothing benji. I am not hungry for now. I was thinking, how about a party tonight? Afterall, i just won my 50th basketball match!!!", said samrat, trying to hide his sadness.

"But samrat why waste so much money, anyways after two.......", uday was about to finish his sentence when dia interuppted," ummm... yeah sure, tonight at 7 at my place, if you guys are fine with it". Samrat knew she would not listen if he told her that it was "his" party and he should host it at his own house, because dia loved hosting parties and get-togethers, much to hertwin brother uday's dislike. Uday tried t finish his sentence but then dia gave him the don't-dare-say-a-word look and that was enough to get uday silent.

Mayank and gunjan excused themselves to the library and dia pulled uday to the corner for some "serious talks". Benji had gone to get some snacks when nupur tried to get use of the opportunity. "Well, samrat, i guess i should leave. I need to complete these notes.........". She sat up to leave and had a pile of books in hand. Purposely, she tripped and fell, with all the books getting scattered. "Oh no! Samrat, would you mind helping me with this please?", asked nupur with an innocent tone in her voice. Samrat bent down to help her and when samrat picked up a book, nupur caught hold of the same book so she got to touch him."Wow!!! So romantic!!! Now samrat will stare at me, and me at samrat, and then love will sprout......... oh wow!!! I knew i should have done this much before". But poor nupur, nothing of that sort happened, as just then, benji came in with the snacks. Nupur gave that why-the-hell-did-he-have-to-come look as samrat got up. "It would have worked, in movies it always does !!! Oh god why did benji have to come???", she thought to herself.

Meanwhile in the classroom, dia, uday, gunjan and mayank were busy makking plans for samrat's birthday. They knew he had his hopes on them. Gunjan and mayank suggested a birthday bash but dia was keen to make it unique..............
