FLASHBACK
Mayank looked around himself in awe ,,the red cum off-white drapes, the orchids and roses that covered every nook n cranny of the mansion dazzled him completely or may be he felt dazzled because of the shimmering lights that were reflected upon the centre of the living hall by that grand chandelliarā¦.
It no longer looked like their hostel mansion . it looked like a palace ,,,,
really samrat and dia had been through with the arrangements for the dayā¦
The arrangements for his engagement ceremony ā¦.
He circled around the spot once more ,to make sure he wasn't day dreaming ā¦.
"sapna nahin hai yeh dude ā¦ aaj finally tum humari morena express k official driver declare kiye ja rahe ho"
Mayank stopped playing merry go round n turned around to look at his best buddy ,samratā¦
Both smiled at each other n then something else caught samrat's attention which made him smileā¦.. wickedly!!!
"Or yeh aayi humari morenna express apne naye driver ko ghayal karneā¦"
Mayank turned around yet again,,he had started filling dizzy from all this circling around on the spot exercisesā¦.but this time he was sure he'd die ā¦
Not because of a spinning head but because of a heart attackā¦.
He was left speechless n stunned ,,,nupur was standing there in front of him looking like an angel,
No,, hell ..angel was no comparison to her,,,,
nupur blushed at the intense scrutiny by her fiance
"mayank its embarrsing atleast apna muh to band rakho dude"
Saying so samrat slapped him hard under his chin to make mayank close his mouth,,,
A silent trail of laughter travelled through the guestsā¦ samrat guffawed but shutup the next second ,seeing gunjan's stern glareā¦.
He looked down n gunjan looked at her di,, who was blushing so much,, she noticed that nupur's face was changing colouts from light pink to maroon to a beautiful red ā¦.
She giggled and said out aloudā¦
"ladies n gentlemen ,,,I invite u to see a most amazing sight ,, infact to the eighth wonder,,, miss nupur bhushan is blushing"
This time it was mayank's turn to slap shut samrat's opened mouthā¦
Nupur's face colour changed to dark red as she tried to give murderous glares to her sister,,, but she was too happy to succeed even an inchā¦..
Banji n uday pushed mayank forward who lost his grip n collided with nupur , who in turn lost her balance n started to fall backā¦.
But mayank held on to her with his one hand and caught her, balanced her midway of the fall,,, how could he let his princess get hurt????
A collective sigh ran through the crowd ,, everyone present there adored the couple silentlyā¦.
"hai mera mayu ,kab socha tha maine k mera phadaku bacha kabhi mujhe is posture mein bhi dikhega"
This inenudo by maaynak's mother made the couple to straighten up immediatelyā¦.
Finally after a lot of jokes n teasing the priest cut in n said the clichd diologue
"muhorat ka samay bita jar aha hai , jaldi se sgayi ki rasam shuru karien"
Rings were brought out.. one by the girl's sister n other by the boy's best friendā¦.
"dude ,, dhyaan se , agar ek baar ring pehna di to sari zindagi ise sehna padegaā¦. by god"
"benji tujhe meri behen ki koi tension nahin hai kya??soch mayank aur meri behen !!!"
"uday beta hummein nupur ki nahin teri tension hai ,, afterall mayank tera jija hai"
At this reply from shilpa aunty everyone laughed ,,,even mayank..
"mohtarma shubh ghadi biti jarahi hai,, kripya jaldi karien!!!"
Benji beckoned samrat close to him n said
"yaar yeh pujari ko kaunsi train pakadni hai,, tu bol mein ise chada ke aaun???"
"lets give him one more chance .. agar yeh phir bola toā¦ā¦"
"toā¦ā¦"
Both the boys exchanged wicked smiles eyeing the pujari ,, who instantly felt uncomfortableā¦ and decided to keep his mouth shut 4 the rest of the ceremonyā¦
Maynak n nupur exchanged the rings while everyone else clapped n cheered and in case of benji n uday howled and made strange noicesā¦
Mayank's hands were shaking and so were nupur's ..finally the day had arrived ,finally they belonged to each other for lifeā¦.
After the ring ceremony both maynk n nupur proceeded to take blessings of their elders ā¦. Nupur's dad didn't allow them to touch his feet instead he hugged his daughter n son-in-law tightly ā¦ this gesture was reapeted by mayank's mom too, with the only difference being her wet eyes..
"aaj tere papa hote to khushi se phule na samate "
mayank smiled n hugged his mom back,,,,
the next step in the party was the dancing ,,, both mayank n nupur were pushed forward just to the centre of the dance floor right under the magnificent chandelierā¦
the music played ,,it was a soft n sweet violen number,,, slowly mayank put his arm around nupur's waistwhich made her shuddere,their hands tweened with each other n they started swayingā¦ā¦
along the tunes ,with the beat both mayank n nupur danced gracefully along the floor..
people clapped ,,though the sound of the applause wasn't reaching the couple yet ,,, they were too much lost in each other to notice each other ā¦
a lone tear clinged with nupur's eyelashes ,, mayank placed his finger beneth ith and waited for the tear to arrive ,,which it did after an few secondā¦.
Holding the finger in front of nupur mayank said
"I feel blessed"
Unable to control herself nupur moved forward to hugged mayank .
They stood their for few minutes untilā¦..
"ahem ahem "
"haan nupur ahem ahem"
Nupur let go of mayank with a groan ,,she really wanted to strangle gunjan n samrat 4 this ā¦.
"di thoda to sharam karo ..pls"
"gunjan mein na tujhe.."
"ahem ahem ,,, han nupur tu gunjan ko?????"
Nupur kept quiet ,, she knew if she spoke even a word more ,,she'll have to run back to her room blushing ā¦
"mayank sir agar aapki ijazat ho to kya ab miss nupur bhushan k hone vale dewar unke saath dance kar sakte hain plsā¦.thank u"
N without even waiting for mayank's reply samrat skipped nupur's hands into his n whirled her away from him ā¦.they circled around the dance floor while mayank stood there in the centre throwing murderous glares at his best friend"
Gunjan laughed n approached his to be jijuā¦
"May i??"
Mayank smiled n took gunjan's hand n started swirling aroundā¦
"u look happy mayank ,, I have never seen u like this b4 never "
Mayank blushed n avoided gunjan's eyes
"oh u r blushing u r actually blushing !!!wait I have to make samrat see thi SAM-----"pls gunjan ā¦"
Stopping gunjan with placing one of his hand over her mouth ,mayank looked around tensely ,, nervous at the possibility that samart might have heard her voice ā¦
By this time a lot more couples had started dancing but the centre of the stage was empty with just a nupur standing there,, she was aloneā¦
Mayank scanned the rest of the room in search of samrat n found him standing beside his motherā¦ samrat was having his ears pulled by herā¦
"bravo mom!!! I lov u "
He heard a tinkling sound n turned his head in its direction ,, he saw nupur standing their alone , she was adjusting her dupatta ,, the tinkiling sound came againā¦
Only this time it felt a lot harder n harsher ā¦
Mayank looked up just in time to see the chandelier hanging down in inclined position with just one screw holding it back in its position , he looked horrified at nupur who was standing just below the chandelier, still trying to adjust her dupattaā¦..
By this time many of the people had noticed a strange sound but hardly did anyone had any idea as to where the sound had come from ā¦ā¦
The next the guests saw mayank running wildly to the centre of stage ā¦. They were puzzled by the terror that had shown distinctly on his faceā¦.
They got their puzzle solved when they heard a crash n saw the magnificent chandelier laying broken on the floor,,,,
Samrat n gunjan ran forwardā¦ both of them had no idea to where mayank n nupur wereā¦their hearts thudded violently against their chests ā¦.
Then samrat spotted nupur who had fallen down a few meters away from the broken chandelier ā¦..
