Day 1 of Raas Team Tryouts

Jay - So welcome everyone to the Raas Team Try Outs. I'm the captain of the team.

Nisha - And I am the co-captain. So before we start let's introduce ourselves. A lot of you are freshman so let's get to know each other.

Rani - Hi my name is Rani. I'm Gujju. Well duh. lol. Um I love singing and....

Rahul - Hey guys.

Nisha - Late as usual.

Jay - Just because you're the oldest doesn't mean you walk in late like every time!

Rahul - My bad bro. Haha. Sorry for interrupting. Let's continue.

Nisha - Go ahead Rani. Don't mind him.

Rani - Um so I love singing and dancing. That's all.

Nisha - Nice nice. Now Rahul, since you came in 15 minutes late. You're up.

Rahul - Lol. Ahh Nisha...Well I'm a senior. Graduating soon. The oldest member of the Raas Team. And yeah...Known for walking in late for everything.

Jay - Haha. Let's keep going.

Maya - Hi I'm Maya. A freshman here. Love dancing. And hoping to make the Raas team.

Nisha - Cool cool...I'm Nisha. Co-Captain of the Raas team. I'm a Junior.

Jay - And I'm Jay. Founded the Raas team a couple years ago. Also a Junior here.

[The introductions kept going on like that until everyone was done introducing themselves.]

Nisha - So now for the try outs. Here's how its going to work. We, Jay and I, will each show you guys a routine and you simply have to follow what we do. Tryouts will be intense and 4 hours long. We have to chose the best 6 with 3 back ups! So good luck to all! =)

Nisha - Alright guys! Most of you are doing fabulous! Honestly we have to make this team the strongest like it has been for many years! So put in all the effort!

Jay - Yup Nisha is right! Gotta make the team stronger than any other college team!

Nisha - So Rani you're up. Show us what you got girl.

[Rani shows off her routine as Nisha and Jay watch her]

Nisha - That was almost flawless, however, you made mistakes from here to there...When you...[She goes on to explain where Rani messed up and where she needed to improve her skills]

Jay - Alright next up. Rahul.

Rahul - Haha. Here I go. [He shows off his routine and is picture perfect at it!

Nisha - Damn boy! You're so fine!

Rahul - What can I say babe! I'm so sexy!

Jay - That was beyond awesome!

Rahul - I've been on the team forever! What do you expect?! Haha.

[Rani and Maya who happen to be best friends are whispering]

Rani - What a flirt!

Maya - Lol. Don't tell me you've fallen for him.

Rani - Nope not at all. Haha.

Maya - Uh huh sure not your type! But must say he's damn good!

Rani - He's been on the team for so long. What do you expect?

Maya - True! Well I'm excited I hope I make the team.

Rani - Me too!

[The tryouts continue. Everyone shows their routine to Jay and Nisha.]

Nisha - Alright so we have judged each of you individally. And within a week the results will be announed as to who made the cut and who didn't.

Jay - And just know if you didn't don't be disappointed. There are still many oppurtunites awaiting you in life! So keep smiling forever! =)

Nisha - And that concludes try outs for today! Have a great day!

[Everyone leaves. Maya and Rani walk back towards their dorms]

Maya - Man I love Garba and Dandiya.

Rani - Aren't we supposed to? We're gujju.

Maya - Lol Rani. Aight I'll see you later! Bye.

Rani - Bye. [She walks to her dorms]

[ 1 week later]

Maya - So we find out today about whether we made it or not.

Rani - I'm pretty sure you did. You're just awesome!

Maya - Um So are you!

Rani - Um nah I haven't had much experience with Raas. You all have done it in India.

Maya - So that makes no difference.

Rani - It does. So where are we supposed to check?

Maya - I remember Jay saying to check our emails. And the member list would be in that email.

Rani - So let's check. [She logs onto her email account and sees a mail from Jay] Alright here it is.

Maya - So who made it?

Rani - Damn I knew I wouldn't make it! But you made alternative.

Maya - Alternative? Damn.

Rani - Hey at least you made it! You get to at least go with them to shows and stuff.

Maya - Aww its ok Rani. Not a big deal.

Rani - Maybe it's not for you. For me I really wanted to make the team. This sucks!

Maya - There are better opportunities out there. And then plus you knew half of the people trying out would make it because they've been on the team previously.

Rani - Yeah but don't you think that's unfair to the new comers?

Maya - In a way yeah. And plus for girls it was harder because most of the girls have already been on the team.

Rani - Yup. Oh well. Congrats for at least making it the the alternatives.

Maya - Thanks. And don't worry!

Rani - It's whatever now!

[Day 1 at Practice]

Jay - Alright. So this is how practice will work. Our first show will be in October. Which leaves us only four weeks of practice. They will be intense and every other day. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. And as the performance day gets closer than practice will be everyday for 4 hours. You must stay focused. Nisha and I have the option of removing you from the team if we feel like you can't keep up. Alternatives are expected to come to every practice just as if they are on the team. Any questions?

Rahul - Lol. You covered it all bro.

Jay - Lol. That's how I roll!

Rahul - That is so my line!

Jay - Haha. So Nisha anything you want to add?

Nisha - Nope. You got it down well Jay. Well then let's begin practice!

[Rani is in her room with her other friend Payal.]

Payal - Sorry you didn't make the team.

Rani - It's ok. Not much can be done.

Payal - It's ok though. You're still an awesome dancer!

Rani - Idk. But thanks! =)

Payal - Friends don't thank friends!

Rani - That is so my philosophy!

Payal - It sure it!

Rani - Haha.

[Back at practice.]

Maya - Wow this is intense!

Nisha - Haha. We are the amazing raas team. Gotta put in hours of practice.

Maya - So true.

Jay - Great work guys. Now we'll meet on Wednesday same time same place. Bye!
