Disturbed by her own thoughts anjali went all in fear yet confident on the surface to confront her father for the sake of her sister. She was not able to catch a proper sleep that night. She never had been that tensed about ridhima. She was wondering that why was she thinking so much about her but she herself had the answer hidden in her. It was that she feared her father's refusal when she would in future disclose her love and also she feared that her most supportive friend armaan would lose his destiny and he would then remain nothing but a body which does everything but can feel nothing.

She settled herself in front of her dad on the dining table and managed a small smile. Shashank who till now was engrossed in getting his daily dose of news from the bombay daily just looked up in reply with a similar smile embracing his face:

I doubt that the sun has risen from the east today because never before have I seen you awake before ridhima anyways serve yourself with the delicacies your mom just prepared.

Anjali: dad I doubt that you woke the same time today coz' ridzi left early morning for a jog and then returned just to get dressed and left for the hospital. (She said pouring some juice in her glass)

Shashank:kya hua anjali you do not seem too well

Anjali: dad we need to talk

Shashank: anjali we definitely will, you finish with breakfast and then we can drive down to sanjeevani together

Anjali: dad the matter is much more serious that just listen and leave , can we talk calmly

Shashank : sure beta

Anjali: dad I don't want to entangle riddles so coming straight to the point. Dad aapko nahi lagta that you have taken the wrong step.

Though reading her expression shashank almost figured out the matter and was surprised at the direct way of framing it yet he wanted her to speak: anjali what step?

Anjali: dad armaan ridzi ke bina mar jaayega

Shashank: aur main uski khushiyon ke bina mar jaaunga

Anjali: come on dad let us face the fact that it is just that you are acting a bit too possessive.

Shashank: possessive about what anjali?

Anjali: dad comeon you know ki main aapka face padh sakti hun and it definitely doesn't look like you don't know but to clear the doubts main batati hun, dad aapko ye fact disturb kar raha hai that ridzi has never been this way, she was actually a puppet jo aapki baat kabhi nahi taal sakti thi and it is the first time ki uski life mein koi aisa hai jo uske liye aapse bhi jyaada important hai and this is hurting you. You are not getting her married just because of the reason she knows infact it is different altogether. Aap uski shaadi isliye kara rahe hain because you fear that you will lose your daughter.

Shashank: anjali main jaanta hun ki tum ek extent tak sahi ho but then main apni beti ko khud to dukh ke paas nahi bhej sakta na.

Anjali: dad comeon

Shashank: anjali armaan ridhima se uski saari khushiyan cheen lega

Anjali: dad aisa kuch nahi hoga kyunki armaan hi to ridhima ki khushiyon ki vajah hai

Shashank: anjali ridhima bahut hi innocent aur sweet hai armaan jaise ladke sirf uski innocence ka faayda uthate hai.

Anjali: oh dad comeon agar armaan ko sirf usse use and throw karna hota to kab ka kar chuka hota. Ridzi had totally surrendered to him. Vo to keh rahi thi ki use bhaga kar lejaaye lekin armaan nahi maana just because it is true love. Armaan ke saamne to ladkiyon ki line lagi hai agar use faayda hi uthana hota to pichle do saal se he would not have been committed to ridzi instead vo har roz ek nayi girlfriend banata.

Shashank: chalo anjali maan lete hai ki armaan ek acha ladka hai but ridhima deserves the best

Anjali: exactly my point dad ridhima deserves the best to phir usse best kyun nahi mil raha hai why is she made to compromise

Shashank: anjali armaan is not the best

Anjali: is sahil the best

Letting out a sigh she continued:

Aap apni beti ke liye us aadmi par bharosa nahi kar sakte jo pichle do saal se uske saath ek protective covering ki tarah hai, usse kisi problem mein nahi padne deta aur jise sirf vo nahi balki hum sab jaante hain but aapko apni beti ke liye vo aadmi acha lagta hai jiske baare mein hum sab, kuch nahi jaante hai leaving the fact ki aapko lagta hai ki he will prove out do be an ideal son in law which I doubt kyunki jo aadmi us ladki ki taraf committed nahi hai jiske saath usko apni saari zindagi guzarni hai to vo ideal kahan se hua

Shashank: anjali mujhe nahi samajh aa raha ki tum sab us armaan ke piche itna paagal kyun ho? Aisa kya hai usme

Anjali: aap samajhna hi nahi chahte dad ki aisa kya hai usme but aapko itna to sochna chahiye ki aisa kuch to hoga that makes him so special to all of us.

By now the tone of talking had turned towards rudeness and the volume was high enough to disturb other people in the house.

Anjali could just not control herself anymore and she left without waiting for a reply carrying a single piece of buttered toast in her hand.

She left shashank there thinking to himself, god knows why but he felt like reconsidering the fact that he was going to gift his daughter to a complete stranger. He tried to be more just but the fact that her love was armaan was hurting him

Ridhima sat alone on the fire escape stairs reading a book just to get her mind clear of all the problem but it definitely was not that easy. She finally threw the book and spoke to herself: ye kya ho gaya hai mujhe, her samay armaan ke baare mein sochti rehti hun, uska jaadoo to aisa chal gaya hai mujh par ki main khud hi apni nahi rahi, kyun itna acha hai wo , kyun? Aur agar hai bhi to bhagwaan aapne uski kismat me mujhe hi kyun likha, kisi aisi ladki ko likhte jo mujhsey bhi achi ho aur jo uska saath zindagi bhar de paaye, meri tarah nahi ki uska saath dena to dur uske paas bhi nahi hun. Itna pyaar kyun karta hai mujhse, main uske layak hi nahi hun. Mujhe pyaar kar ke vo apne aap ko dukh pahunchane ke alava aur kuch nahi kar raha hai aur uska dukh dekh kar mera dil rota hai. Uske dukh ki aahat sunte hi dhadkan band ho jaati hai, kyun ho raha hai aise? Kyun main apne aap ko chahte huye bhi use dur nahi bhej pa rahi hun?

In armaan's room

Armaan muttered to himself: zindagi ye kaisa khel khel rahi hai mere saath. Pehle kisi ko nahi chaha to khushiyan cheen li aur ab jaise hi apni manzil ke karib pahunchne ki koshish karta hun to vo meri zindagi, meri ridhima ko hi cheen rahi hai , I just don't get it, I am tired, main kya karun I am not getting it but something definitely has to be done, main kya karun kuch samajh nahi aa raha. Please get me out of this. Maine aaj tak apne parents ko utna pyaar nahi diya jitna dr shashank ko diya. Kyun mere se hi mere saare apno ko cheen liya jaata hai. Am I that bad.
