"Yes? What is it?"

"We shall meet Sohanji tomorrow. Until then will you continue to stay with Raj?"

"I …. I … of course not! I wouldn't dream of imposing."

"What will you do? Where will you stay?"

"I shall return home…eh .. that is to my mamaji's house." Kranti sighed.

"Are you sure you want to go there?" Raj asked.

He knew what it would be like to re-enter that dragon's lair.

"Is there going to be a problem?" Awasthi asked.

"Her aunt doesn't approve of Kranti's adventurous ways and is not going to take Kranti's disappearance lightly at all."

"What does your uncle do, Kranti?" asked Awasthi.

"He works at the courts, Sir."

"Same place as you?"

"Yes." She nodded.

"How many people were there at the time of the hold up?" asked Awasthi of Raj.

"Plenty."

"Was Kranti recognised by anyone?"

"Can't say," Raj was unsure. "But any witness from the Crown's side can state that she was there."

"Maybe her uncle can give an alibi?"

"Why would mamaji need to give an alibi when everyone knows I took leave to go to Amritsar? Everyone knew I wouldn't go unescorted."

"If a person can say that you held a gun to Raj's head, you could be arrested for attempted murder."

"So what? As a KK these are the chances we have to take. I am not afraid."

"Kranti, you have no idea what can happen to you in the jail." Awasthi told her.

"Oh! She wants to be a martyr! Wants to give up her life for the country." Raj remarked sarcastically.

"Stop it!" inserted Kranti.

"What use is a dead KK, Kranti?"

Kranti looked at him coldly as he continued.

"You hadn't thought of that, had you?"

"I don't want mamaji to be dragged into any of this….."

"Oh…I can see Kranti the great acrobat doing the tight rope walk. She's holding a long pole for balancing. At one end of the pole is her Tauji and the other end has mamaji." Raj said as he rubbed his cheek with his forefinger.

Kranti gnashed her teeth. Why couldn't he keep his two penny comments to himself? She knew she would be doing just that. But he didn't have to point this out to her.

"Okay, I can see this is getting us nowhere. C'mon Raj let's take her back to her family."

Raj looked at Awasthi, startled. Was this a good move? It would be like leading the lamb to the slaughter house with mamiji standing with her blade ready to strike. Kranti too seemed worried and unsure. She was going to have to face a battery of questions from her family and she knew she would have to lie in order to protect Tauji. Apart from that, she would be awkward in front of these two distinguished men. She was never one to be ashamed of her lineage but mamiji's caustic tongue and rough behaviour could be quite undesirable to witness.

"Is there a problem?" Awasthi sensed the hesitation on Kranti's part.

She shook her head and the trio made its way to the door. They had been discussing for a long time and the sun was about to set.

Kranti began to feel nervous. She knew her aunt was going to her display her theatrics especially since she would have an audience. Kranti cringed inwardly and shivered. Both men noticed that but remained silent. While Awasthi hoped the uncle would speak up, Raj hoped the aunt would keep her acerbic tongue in control. Both men probably didn't know their hopes were going to be dashed.

Kranti unlocked the gate. It creaked as Raj pushed it open and stepped aside to allow the other two to enter. They walked to the door and knocked. They heard a female voice saying, "coming" and footsteps were heard running towards the door.

Lovely…………Kranti realised her young cousin would soon open the door.

The door opened and Lovely stood with both her hands on the door. She was smiling and her prominent teeth were splendidly displayed. But the smile faltered and vanished when she saw her cousin.

"You?" she exclaimed.

"How are you Lovely?" Kranti forced a smile trying to keep her fears at bay.

"What are you doing here? And you?" She turned her attention to Raj. "You are a bad man. My mother told me."

Awasthi was taken aback. What was going on here? He looked at Raj who looked back and shrugged.

"Why am I a bad man?" Raj asked, his lip curling sardonically.

This girl was really bird brained, but she would tell them what had been discussed and happened in the house in Kranti's absence. It would help in assessing the situation. He looked at Awasthi who was quick on the uptake and understood. He nodded imperceptibly.

"You are bad because mummyji told."

"Really? What did she say?"

"You are a dhokhebaaz. She put bharosa on you and see what you do."

"How have I become a dhokebaaz? I have done nothing"

"Mummyji says…………….."

"That's enough Lovely, don't speak to that despicable man! He thinks just because he has money he can behave anyway he likes. The Devil take him!!!"

"Please, dear don't go on and on…….." said that cowering man.

Awasthi realised that was Kranti's mamaji. No wonder Kranti was so bitter about being orphaned and no wonder Raj called that man spineless. Awasthi looked at Raj. Why had that silly girl called him a rogue? He was getting more and more curious. Even Kranti had a poor opinion of him.

"You be quiet …… you have no right to talk. You are foolish and your nature is too soft. Had you had average sense we wouldn't be in this kind of a soup. Hai hai this girl is going to be the death of me." From her husband, mamiji turned her attention on the hapless Kranti. Kranti's shoulders sagged while Raj's temper rose. Awasthi was wondering if there was a way to diffuse the situation.

Thank you very much for listening to all of us. Loved reading the latest update, but now i have to start reading from the very beginning just to get the feel of the story once more.

Frist of all thanks alot for considering our love towards your MRD our way... And second thanks for making we poor dreamers happy with a fantastic update.... Now coming to the update... Superb as usual.... So Kranti is not at all ready to spent one more night at Raj place even if she has no choice other than going into the jaws of mamiji.... Loved the way you portrayed the thought of Awasti about mamaji and Raj about mamiji.... Lovely's dialogues were funny to read... especially... "She put bharosa on you and see what you do..." ... mazaa aa gaya... And at last I am also thing like Kranti... "What on earth was Raj doing?" and waiting for the next part....

Thanks u heard our wishes & going on with the story. When I was online yesterday night I saw this post & went to check for the next part but then it was not there, but I guessed we will definitely get the dose within next morning, so I decided to go through the previous parts briefly offline as I have it saved with me to get the feel again because the gap was long enough. And now I went through this part, good one, but after reading it I am getting impatient for the next part, its just like Friday ending of show on Monday, and have to spend nail biting weekends in between, pls pls update asap. I am thinking this time whether Awasthi or Raj who is going to take responsibility of Kranti, but never mind shall wait for the next part. Nothing much to say about your writing its superb as usual.

So kranti wants to return to her mamaji 's house…….

She didn't take time in arriving at this decision…….her reply was instant when Awasthi asked her where she would be staying…….

She is all set to bear all the tortures at the hands of mamiji but she is not willing to stay with Raj…………

You know skep I just hated that mamiji in the serial ……couldn't bear her sight……she used to get on my nerves…...😡😡😡

Lovely is indeed very funny……….she provides comic relief………🤣
