CHAPTER 26(A)

Nightmares……

So it may be true what we suspect…some1 might be sabotaging the firm.. But who? Another competitor? But if that was the case all the people who left who have been ending up at the same place which is not true…. Who can do such a sneaky thing and why?

These thoughts kept bugging me for a long time while I finished my paperwork at the office in turn making me late. It was completely dark outside by now. As I gathering my papers to put them in my drawer I heard a crashing noise outside from the corpse storage room.. That strange coz everyone has left and corpse don't move… maybe something slipped.. Worse a mouse. That would be a real problem so I decided to investigate.

What I found in the room puzzled me. All the lockers holding bodies or empty had their doors open and there was some blood on the floor. Nothing made sense and when things in morgue didn't make sense and seemed scary, it usually only meant one thing –someone was trying to scare the hell out of u or playing a sick prank. I hoped for the former, I was in no laughing mood…

I took a mop and cleaned up the blood and closed all doors, it takes a lot more to make me scream. As I returned to my office I had a feeling that something was wrong.. Different… this means that the next trap was in my office.

OK… taking a calming breath I reached my desk and pulled the drawer to put my papers in it. The drawer was already open.. The trap… inside it was a plastic box with rubber lid to keep it airtight.

Suspecting bone piece, insects, mutilated rodents and anything equally revolting I opened the box and to my surprise… a hand, cut at wrist, the palm and fingers blue.

It looked old, strange and almost real. I picked it up to guess the material and have a closer look. It felt real too… but nobody would dare mutilate a corpse here… as I raised the hand closer I saw a mole.. On the palm, in the middle of life line… it was a woman's hand.. it was delicate I turned it around sniffing it to guess what material it was made of and saw official marks for identification engraved near the thumb on the back of hand.

I dropped the hand and screamed.

Kashish felt that she couldn't get home fast and when she did, it looked as if the nightmare hadn't ended yet. Her house was empty. No one. Not even Sujal was there… with a feeling of absolute dread and shaking hands Kashish took out her cell and rang nick, feeling a little relived when the phone rang. At least her phone was working.. But nick was picking it up. She tried Sam and Sid ditto. Her father's pone was switched off. Kashish tried to steady herself and find a plausible reason to explain everything.. People wouldn't go this far to frighten her or play tricks…

Just as Kashish decided to check for messages left somewhere, she saw blood. Kashish put a hand over her mouth either to stifle another scream or to stop from getting sick. Taking a step toward it she cud se a half bloody footprint leaving trail away from the pool of blood there were signs of struggle, the carpet was upturned and the table nearby way knocked away…

Kashish jumped out of her skin when she heard a clang in the kitchen and almost fainted when the telephone rang after that. Placing a hand over her thudding heart to sooth it, Kashish slowly neared it. Her practical mind told her that she was acting absurdly by being afraid of a telephone, but her jangled nerves and thumping heart believed otherwise. Kashish picked up the phone with a shaking hands and squeaked "hello?"

CHAPTER 26(B)

Nightmares continue……

Kashish jumped out of her skin when she heard a clang in the kitchen and almost fainted when the telephone rang after that. Placing a hand over her thudding heart to sooth it, Kashish slowly neared it. Her practical mind told her that she was acting absurdly by being afraid of a telephone, but her jangled nerves and thumping heart believed otherwise. Kashish picked up the phone with a shaking hands and squeaked "hello?"

"KASHISH!!"

Kashish almost dropped the phone with relief "Dad!!!"

"Are u ok? U sound unsettled."

"I'm fi-… where is every one? What's going on. No1 is taking my calls. Dad.. Ther..there..is blood at the bottom of stairs.. I.."

"All of us are at the hospital near ur office. The blood is… I'll explain it when u come and come soon."

"What's wrong dad? Who is hurt? What is going on?"

"No time now, just come!"

For the second time in the same night Kashish felt her car didn't go fast enough. Her heart was still beating hard and she cud still feel the adraline rush in her senses. Upon arriving Kashish rushed to her family and was informed by Sujal that nick had accidentally fallen from the top of stairs… broken a few bones.. Bumped his head and cut his cheek on the table nearby… that was all of his injuries they knew of as yet….. Whole thing happened about an hour ago and he hadn't been able to regained his conscious since…. Doctors feared concussion.

Kashish went inside the patient room and sat beside her dear, unconscious brother. Only one member was allowed to visit at time.

Nick looked pale, his chest was bandaged.. bruised ribs, his leg was in a cast… broken bones, and a IV was stuck to his right hand… a mole on his palm.

Kashish stood up and automatically rushed back 5 steps.. Obviously this was just a coincidence… Right? It can't mean anything… It was obvious some1 had just tried to scare her with a real hand, but the similarity of the moles…. Both were right hands… Both had it exactly in middle of their life lines…

Kashish took a step forward and chided herself for being stupid… ofcourse this was just a coincidence, whoever did it was going to die by her wrath tomorrow.

"Kashish?"

Nearly jumping out of her skin again Kashish turned around and found Sam standing there.

"u scared me bhaiya.. What is it?"

"Sanskriti wants to be with Nick for now… Do u mind? I didn't mean to scare u, although I don't understand why u r so high strung. Something wrong at work?"

Kashish shook her head and followed her brother outside.. No use burdening him with her problems.. He already had Rin and his child to worry about.

"U know something Kashish.. I never expected Nick to be this clumsy.. U r the one with most medical knowledge.. U think he will wake up soon?"

"Of course he will!! Don't worry bhai it was just a silly unlucky fall, no way is Nick gonna sleep and get his marriage postponed 😳"

Kashish watched as her brother sat down dejectedly.. so much was going on.. It's like a never ending Nightmere. First one, then another member on her family was getting hurt or sick and then that hand… Something about it was making her very uncomfortable… Kashish looked at her brother and then on a impulse decided to tell him the whole thing, perhaps two of them can find some sick humor in the situation..

So Kashish told her brother why she was so jumpy and waited for him to tell her how absurd she was being.. jumping to conclusions.. Connecting two incidents..

To Kashish's utter horror she watched Sam go ghostly white when she came to the part of describing the mole and how Nick had an identical one too…

Waise I'm a bit sad to knw that the story is going to finish soon....end as in only 4-5 more looong parts...but then may be all gud things cum to an end na. Hope to read more from u. And continue soon.
