DESPERATE MEASURES
Rajveer was furious. "What the hell are you doing here Alekh? I've been under the impression that I'm following a lead and here it turns out to be you instead?" He still hadn't left Alekh's collar. "Tell me damn it what are you doing here?"
Alekh tried to get free yet he knew it wasn't going to be easy. "I came here to do what should have been your job." He sure was irritated. "Only to make myself clear I also was following someone and ended up here and..."
He was interrupted by Rajveer because he thought he heard some shuffling. They were not alone and if he was correct then it had to be the person whom Alekh must have followed. Slowly he tiptoed towards the noise which he believed came from behind the curtains of the far window.
The person thought they were smart but that trick had been too old. Rajveer was much smarter and just as he reached; he rapidly pulled onto the curtains only to be left shocked once again. "I don't believe this. Are we playing hide and seek here?"
A slightly terrified Yudi stood in front of him who looked confused. "Sir I was called here."
"What?" It was Rajveer's turn to be confused. "Nobody knows you are alive and working on the secret mission." He lowered his voice just in case anyone overheard them. "I gave you specific instructions to never leave the headquarters without my permission and yet you disobey me." He was utterly disappointed.
Yudi was sorry. "I'm well aware of that but I'm telling you. I was called here by Colonel Shakti so I assumed you were also involved."
The mention of Colonel Shakti intrigued Rajveer. "Colonel Shakti? When, did he contact you and why?" He didn't wait for an answer. "He has been missing for so many days and hasn't contacted me or taken any of my calls and here he is contacting you?" He held his head. "It makes no sense."
"Many things don't make any sense nowadays Rajveer Sir." Alekh walked up towards them. "I mean here we see you and Naina both so much in love with each other and all of a sudden we find you insulting her in front of everyone.." He saw how Rajveer gave him a stern look. "What I'm trying to say is that what kind of strategy is this of yours?"
Rajveer just sighed. "There are many things you don't understand Alekh and for all of you it would be best that you didn't."
Surely whatever Rajveer said always made sense and Alekh understood. "The only things I understand is you always have a good reason for whatever you do but at present I'm not sure I can see clearly." Rajveer walked few steps forward. "But I remember how last time after the mentorship program you had behaved in the same way and then also I had understood that you cared for Naina. Right now I also see that you care for her due to which you are doing whatever you are doing. I'm with you sir in whatever help you need." He put his hand on Rajveer's shoulder.
Definitely Rajveer appreciated the compassionate gesture. "Thanks. For the time being I need both of you to leave this place securely and unseen." He made sure Yudi heard him carefully. "And you don't leave the headquarters unless I tell you personally."
Both the men understood and quickly ducked out of there from the fire exit down the lobby.
Quite a few revelations had come forward in the past few days. With Colonel Shakti missing Rajveer was at a hanging rope yet he had to get till the top of it. It was high time he took upon desperate measures.
From there Rajveer returned back to the room in which he had laid an injured Sonia. He wasn't confused about her being wide awake but why she still had stuck around there. Had she expected he would had come back for her? In a way he thought it was to his advantage as she was about to become his trump card in the whole game plan.
Sonia was furious with him for various reasons. She still believed he was responsible for her being shot since he on purpose had put her in front. There had to be no other explanation for it. He must have figured out somehow. "If you've come to see if I'm still alive then I guess it's just your bad luck. You won't be able to get rid of me that fast." She taunted him.
He smirked. "As much as I would love to see you dead Sonia, I'm here to see if you're alright since you took quite a bad hit out there."
"As if you're concerned." She slightly winced. "I know very well you had planned all of this but I'm much smarter." She had her mobile out. "Do I need to remind you of this once again?" She played the horrendous mms in front of him which just made him cringe.
If there was a choice he would have strangled her there and then yet he knew he had to play it smooth in order to get all his answers. The utmost answer he required was about whom she worked for and who the shooter was. He knew he was target and in time had switched her in front of him. "You don't need to remind me of anything. It won't hurt for you to believe that people around you actually are much better than you who care for people in need."
The lecture was ignored by her as she held the wounded arm. Clearly her frustration was more due to the phone conversation than because of him.
Rajveer noticed blood so he leaped towards her. "Let me see your wound it's bleeding." He didn't let her oppose as he took charge. He removed the cloth carefully and then examined the wound which had become quite sore. "I would need to do the dressing once again." With that he got up and went inside the bathroom and returned back soon with a wet towel and a vodka bottle from the in - room bar. "This would probably sting a bit but don't worry it shall be over soon."
All the sincerity and concern astonished her. She knew he only did it because he had his own motives yet for the first time someone had taken care of her like that. It was as if he really had cared. Then she ruminated about the phone conversation of how the one person whom she adored so much for which she had done everything so far, had practically insulted her several times. Then there was Rajveer with whom she had done nothing but worse and still he was there taking care of her. "I am ok now. Thank you."
For some reason Rajveer was able to notice how deep down Sonia was not the bitch she appeared to be. Perhaps it wasn't going to be that difficult and he would get his answers very soon.
The enclosed room had begun to suffocate her so she stood up in the attempt to leave but it happened for a few seconds that she had felt light headed as if the world around had gone black.
In time he realized and held her before she crashed against the floor. Of course he would have enjoyed it but right then he had to do everything in his might, which would have convinced her that he was devoted towards her. Since he was out there to try out desperate measures, he offered to escort her out.
No matter how difficult it was to believe, it was true that his behavior had peculiarly changed over the matter of time.
Outside in the hall Naina still appeared disturbed. If only she could have stuck around more to have heard the secret conversation in the dark room. She knew that both Nair and Bharghav were in there but the main person was still hidden. Their chief was still a mystery.
If that problem wasn't enough to cloud her mind with frustration, she had to set eyes on Rajveer exiting with Sonia in his arms. Not only had he betrayed her trust but had shattered the very meaning of the sacred word - love. It was about time she took matters in her hand and taught him a lesson.
Once again Bharghav returned to her as he also noticed the charade played by the clown and his seductress. It was fun and he loved to ignite the fire. "I can see how your infuriation is raising Cadet Naina Singh Ahluwalia." He smirked. "If you want you can take care of them right now."
Naina's rage was evident in her eyes yet she decided to remain calm for the time being as she very well knew how Bharghav was going to take advantage. "Why don't you just leave that on me? You shall get what you want once we reach Goa and after that we would no longer require the useless bimbet or her puppet." With that she stomped off out of there. She couldn't tolerate the noise or the crowd. She needed peace and quiet in order to plan out her next move. She knew she was alone but enough to handle all.
Secret headquarters
Few hours later Rajveer was surprised to find his gang of cadets in his office. They had to stop popping in whenever they pleased since it was very dangerous. Bharghav and Nair eyed each of their moves and there they were meeting him openly. "What are you all doing here?" He quickly shut the door with disappointment. "I've warned you all so many times that we all have to be very careful yet I don't know why it has not registered in all of your thick heads." He hadn't expected to be so rude to them but with everything that went on his bottleneck was about to burst.
An apologetic Ali stepped forward. "Sorry Sir, we didn't mean to disobey you like this but it was urgent so we couldn't wait for you to return back to Major Bharghav's place."
Rajveer sat on his chair and just stared back at them to fill him in. Ali continued. "We received immediate orders to return back to KMA tonight."
It was news to catch Rajveer's attention so he stood up and took hold of the paper out of Ali's hand. When he read it he wasn't that much surprised as he knew that with the location have been changed it was bound that the cadets were to be sent back. However he hadn't expected it that quick. "I guess the orders have arrived so you must follow them."
Huda seemed displeased. "How can we leave now Sir? I mean weren't we all in this mission with you and now you're telling us to abandon it."
"I'm not the one giving out the orders Cadet Huda." Rajveer gave him a stern look. "It isn't the first time you all have disobeyed any orders so why are you all disturbed?" He noticed all of their down casted faces. "Am I not correct Cadet Ghai?" She didn't reply. "These orders have come from BC himself and we all know that he also is involved in this whole stratagem. That puts all of you at risk so I suggest you all start packing."
The cadets were astonished as they had expected something else. "We're not just going to leave this in between Sir." Huda was adamant. "I mean we've been fighting for this cause for so long and now that we've reached the peak and are about to reveal, you're telling us to just drop it." He shook his head with dismay.
"I also agree with Huda bhai, Sir." Ali, who most of the time had chosen to remain mute, had spoken in that matter. "We've worked very hard to clear all our names and yours too and now you expect us to forget all that and return back."
Their outrage was something else and Rajveer just grinned. "This isn't child's play. When you all joined the KMA you all pledged to be bound by its rules. I know how much struggle we all have been through but now because of your one mistake it all shall go down the gutter." He turned towards each one of them. "Already tonight many mishaps have taken place so if you guys want to remain as officers to be able to do anything, then I suggest you guys do exactly as you're told."
"But Sir..." Huda tried to defy yet was halted midway.
"I don't want to hear anything further. You guys are going back to the academy." He had made his final decision.
"Nobody is going anywhere." A strict female voice filled the room and everyone turned their heads. Naina stood with her arms folded across her chest with a prominent look. "Yes you heard me right." She stepped forward until he was right in front of her. "You think only you can make the rules here." She was very headstrong. "I suggest you start accepting the fact that you're not such a big hot shot as you claim to be." Then she turned towards the others. "I've got special permission from Brigadier Chandok himself for all of us."
The others examined the letter she had projected in front of them. It had BC's signature on it which surprised all of them.
Rajveer appeared thoughtful but somehow wasn't that much surprised as if he had expected her to have done something like that. He was adamant to have made himself negative as much as possible if he wanted to get till the end.
The other cadets were pleased with Naina and soon left. They hadn't expected that from Rajveer and seriously couldn't figure out what his problem was. Lately he was totally a new person.
New strategies had to take place so later on Rajveer called Yudi in his office and gave him several instructions. Since he was the computer buff it was going to be easier for him to hack into Sonia's computer and get as much information as he could.
On the other hand Sonia was busy fretting about her companion being so cold with her. He didn't care about her at all and was only interested in his own business. Yet she had less choice and had to follow orders or her life was in danger too. As she saw how that night she was shot and nobody had done anything to prevent it. There were possibilities that it would happen again.
She walked up to a drawer in her room and took out a vile which held some kind of serum. It was her ultimate step and she knew the time had come. She was told to resort to desperate measures then that was what she was going to do. "Tomorrow I shall end this once and for all and then I'll see what he has to say about me." She closed the drawer and left.
Next day
"How is your wound" Rajveer pretended to have been concerned.
"What do you care?" Sonia was literally pissed off. "I'm sure from inside you're all excited."
He sighed. "Look no matter how much I must despise you, I'm still human and truly care for you."
For a minute she thought over it. "I know you're only doing this to please me." She let out a short laugh. "Yet I'm not a fool who will fall for your tricks. Just remember that I've got the trump card in my hand which would make you lose the game."
"I know that and now I don't even care about it." He waited for a few seconds to see if he got a response. When there was still silence he continued. "How about I take out to dinner tonight? Perhaps that shall change your mind."
It sounded almost too good to be true but she also was curious as to what changed him. "Ok, I'll be waiting for you in the Hyatt regency room number 1290." Then she cut the call and buried herself in deep thought. Rajveer definitely was playing a game with her as it was impossible for a person to change so drastically especially when he knew she had something terrible against his reputation.
Rajveer also went through the same chain of thoughts. It had been so easy which threw in several suspicions. She was up to no good and the only way he was going to find out anything was if he got her alone on his terms.
He grabbed his cell and dialed for Yudi. "Yes, tonight will be the best opportunity...I want you to get the job done." No matter what happened he was going to get to the truth that night.
Hyatt Regency
The doors of the elevator opened onto the 12th floor. He waited for them to close once again as he wasn't sure whether what he was about to do was correct or not. He had tried many things yet none of them had taken him towards the truth. The doors opened again yet he still hadn't moved out.
He had promised himself and many others that he was going to get to the truth no matter what then why was it so difficult for him? He took in a deep breath and for the third time the doors opened and that time he stepped out. If he was going to do the work then he was going to go all the way till the edge.
When he rang the bell of the room he still hesitated yet he didn't have time to step back because the door opened. That was the only way and he knew it.
It was rather strange because when he entered he found the room empty and it was dimly lit. Somebody had certainly opened the door from inside then where did they disappear? He looked around and found the ambience quite on the romantic note which appeared highly suspicious.
Just when that thought crossed his mind he felt a sensual pair of fingers running along his back. The person's intentions were not good and he knew all those tricks. He had played them many times yet he wasn't exactly sure whether they were in his favor or not.
Gradually as the fingers reached his c***oris he was forced to turn around and wasn't very much surprised. He was tinge bit curious but not surprised.
The maiden of seduction was draped in a black strapless dress with a rather too high of a slit. Most of her cleavage was exposed which generally had been the idea and her face was lit up even in the dim light due to the shiny silver make up she had applied. In each sense her goal was to tame her prey that night so she could have some fun as well as become satisfied.
The situation highly intrigued Rajveer as he wondered what she was up to. Of course he had known Sonia was of that kind yet she appeared more desperate than him to have transformed. Her bewitching eyes played around a lot which didn't allow him to look away.
Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewaana
Deewaana deewaana pyaar ka parwaana
Sonia pushed Rajveer back onto the sofa and buried herself upon him so it was impossible to get out of her grip by all ways.
Aata hain mujhko pyaar main jal jaana
Mushkil hain pyaare tera bachke jaana
His resistance was obvious and he tried pushing her off but she was adamant to play all her cards. She had no intentions of letting him escape anywhere.
Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewaana
Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewaana
Obviously Rajveer was disgusted by her display and just couldn't think about anyone else but Naina yet he had a duty to follow which terribly irked him throughout.
Meanwhile she continued being the enchantress and slid along the furry rug as if she was the predator and he her prey.
Dil wo chaahe jise, chaahe jise ose paaye
Pyaar wo yaar ke jo naam pe hee mitjaaye
He turned away yet she held onto his hand and forced him to get close to her.
Dil wo chaahe jise, chaahe jise ose paaye
Pyaar wo yaar ke jo naam pe hee mitjaaye
Jaan ke badle main jaan loon nazrana
She had ulterior motives as well and she had no intention of letting him find out. She was going to very cleverly inject the truth serum in him and finally the drama was going to be over that night.
Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewaana
Deewaana deewaana pyaar ka parwaana
All that time Rajveer wondered whether his plan would succeed or not. He had anticipated something else and with what went on he was unsure how he was going to react next. He had bet his cards on Yudi and only he could save him.
Sonia noticed how Rajveer hadn't totally surrendered himself to her so she had to raise the stakes. She gradually opened her dress zip and stripped down totally taking him off guard.
Pal pal ek hulchul, dil main ek toofan hain
Aane ko hain wo manzil jiska mujhe armaan hain
Hell he hadn't expected that to have happened and that too so soon. She definitely was desperate enough. Probably it was time he also showed her he wasn't a fool so he scooped her up in his arms and carried her towards the bed.
Pal pal ek hulchul, dil main ek toofan hain
Aane ko hain wo manzil jiska mujhe armaan hain
To her belief she felt she had won and finally he was tricked into coming very close to her. It was the perfect moment.
Bhulega na tujhe dil ka yeh takraana
There had been many times when R2 had seduced several women and in the past he had also made out with Sonia many times yet right then each touch and kiss was pure torture for him.
Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewaana
Deewaana deewaana pyaar ka parwaana
Aata hain mujhko pyaar main jal jaana
Mushkil hain pyaare tera bachke jaana
Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewaana
Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewaana
As he played along with her, his sharp eye remained on any unexpected movements and just as he had thought she was up to no good. Yet he was smarter and before she could have injected him, he slyly grabbed it out her hand whilst kissing her because otherwise she was never going to be distracted. His desperate measures had put him in a place where he wasn't going to be able to forgive himself yet he knew that it was all for a good cause.
Before she knew it she felt a sharp pierce through her arm which made her push him off her and for the initial few seconds she just stared at him. How could he have guessed? However she had no time to ponder over it as soon her vision began to get blurry and was thrown into a delirious state.
It definitely was not what he had expected yet it was the perfect thing for his plan. With her telling him the truth he would know everything he needed. "Now I'm going to ask you several questions, can you hear me?"
His voice was muzzled and very hard. She looked up at him totally doped and probably didn't understand half of what went around. But she was forced to tell the truth.
"Who do you work for?" He didn't want to beat around the bush so got right to the point. "Tell me who do you work for?"
She looked up towards him still as if she was unaware of her surroundings. "Someone who means the world to me but he doesn't care about me." She appeared angry and sad.
It wasn't what he wanted to know so he held her by her shoulders showing some restlessness. "What is his name? Tell me right now." He commanded.
The tight grip brought tears in her eyes. "His name is Rio, now leave me, it really hurts."
He knew she told the truth so he loosened his grip yet it wasn't the answer he looked for. Who was the new character in the story? And how come it wasn't Abhimanyu as he had anticipated? Whatever it was he had to get Sonia's confidence and get to the man behind it all. He had to find the shooter who was after him as well as Naina.
Sonia carried on with her blabber in which she revealed several things which he wouldn't have found out otherwise. She was the correct pawn and he was confident that it soon was going to be check mate. He was ready to face anything, even if he had to continue to use a lot of desperate measures.
