Som, I was in Heard Island chasing the herds away 😉 but now I'm back in US here at my corporate job with my friends & family.😃 Now abt the post being closed……….I'm kind of glad that Sakshi closed that topic & started this new one. Everybody was trying to promote their fav & in turn was hurting the other. Someone tell me, why is it so much fun to be mean? [Are we just BAD PEOPLE?] Nope....but we are all sensitive & emotional people & thus have got attached to our fav. It is a new day so let's start on a new positive note! Here is the link if you want to read the old post.....

Hey All,

This is the first time i m contributing in this forum, but have been a regular visitor and do appreciate Sakshi's efforts for the daily updates.. I have been watching FG only recently arnd the same time when the Shamit fiasco happened.. so Sakhshi's update did help me u/s wat happened in the past...

I have been watching Zee's SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005 since its inception.. and However hard i try, i cannot stop myself comparing how well conceptualised and presented SRGMP is and beats FG by leaps and bounds... I know they are not exactly similar but whether u are hunting for General singers or someone for Albums 1 thing is certain u cant compromise on the singing quality.. and thus I end up concluding how pathetic is the system of FG (I m sure i m hurting many peoples sentiments here but I have some points to make)

FG is supposedly a very high level competition and a lot is at stake for the participants.. n thus it becomes all the more necessary that right people are selected to do the job.. Right from the start everything seams so mediocre in FG to me.. since i started late i donno how they selected the candidates so no comments on that. But fail to understand wat went into the selection of IA and the faculty.. more importantly the faculty... wat is their clame to fame.. am aware that they have been associated with music since long but honestly answer yourself how many of you'll knew who they were.. to me the SRGMP model is seems to perfect here…

Next the judjes.. thats even more pathetic.. SM seems better among the 3 but still not the best choice.. there are so many renowned and experience people in the industry.. where are they?? JA, ok he is renowned and has experience but I thought he was known for his lyrics and writing.. and if the argument is he is related to music industry then by that logic even Prabhudeva or Farah Khan and the likes can also judge, afterall even they are related to music and are renowned and have experience.. infact the respect for JA i had is only going southwards specially after reading his interview where he talk abt the good amount of money HE is getting through FG... I thought he is on the top of the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs at Self Actualisation but that statements sounds he is still at the bottom talking about meeting his physiological needs.. and KK??? who the HELL is he?? he is still riding on the success of his album 'Pal' which came some donkey years ago... and there are some few songs he has done since then... I strongly refuse to accept that they are right choice as a Jury.. they should have got couple of prestigious music directors from the industry with good experience to do justice…

and worst of all is the system and the concept.. I thought the attempt here is to select quality singers who have potential in them and refine their raw skills... and how many minutes in roughly 25 mins episode daily do we see them learning, practising, or faculty teaching them... not more then 5 mins for all participants inclusive... and what abt the rest??? we see how good boxers are they?? how they pull each others leg, how good mimicry artist are they, what strategy are they making, how much they love each other, who hates whom and to what extent, some budding love stories, and many more.. looks like a daily soap, even better then many of the Ekta's daily. Agree that 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' but play, play and only play?? and if SONY edits the singing practice and learning sessions coz they feel its not important then even that is not desirable..

and about the students voting not being fare... its only the format to be blamed.. after all how can we expect them not to be selfish when the stakes are so high... Game theory is at work here and it's a Zero-sum game, what you do others, others do it to you. So stop blaming.. I read some where 'If rape becomes inevitable, Enjoy it!!!' same applies here to the participants and to all the viewers, who may find this manipulated and pathetic and sad and are pissed off (like I have been doing) but we still cant stop watching it till we see an end to it.. so Enjoy it!!!!

huuuh

Thanks for hearing me...

nav-preeti:
well for ur info in saregamapa Sameer is pne of the judge and he is also a lyricist, Perhaps u don know that most of the times lyrics are written based on a tune and sometime they give music based on lyrics so its both ways, if a lyricist wont understand the music then he/ she cant be a good lyricist

also let me tell u that faraha khan (u talked about her in ur post) was a judge in indian idol.

Strong words preeti ....... my attempt to explain the situation:

1. Faculty are teachers who need not necessarily be well known to the public. How they have transformed performers like Rex, Qazi, RR has to be seen to be believed.

2. SM is now one of THE leading music directors of Mumbai and a great singer too

3. As already mentioned by my friend, a lyricist has to understand music to be able to do his job. And JA is THE best

4. Also as mentioned, Farah Khan WAS a judge in II

5. KK is also one of the most versatile singers in Mumbai plus a self-made singer to boot.

Also consider that these 3 people (or at least the first 2) will be instrumental in breaking these raw talents into Indian playback

6. The system and concept are from Fame which has a set format. My understanding is that the one SET is using is slightly modified from the original Fame format.

Cheers, all the best and all that ........
