I have been a member of this forum and love reading the updates, yet I have never felt compelled to write; however, today a couple of posts, and the fact that I dont have to correct any exams this weekend 😃 , compelled me to put in my two bobs worth. The first comment was from the Pakistani gentleman or lady who should have starred in Conspiracy Theory and the other one was about Qazi's hair being smelly!!! What inanities can people come up with is comical, to say the least!
I feel we should rename this the Qazi forum because he is the one discussed the most. It's obvious he has a huge fan following and they should be congratulated for coming out so strongly in his support. As I see it, there are two types of people in this forum - those who want Qazi as Fame Jodi and those who don't want him as Fame Jodi. As of now the former are outnumbering the latter and I feel it's because of what I call the 'underdog factor'. The public everywhere loves the underdog because at some point or the other we have all been underdogs. It's human nature and we cannot negate it. And there is nothing wrong in being the underdog - look at the Indian cricket team. They won the World Cup when they weren't remotely expected to. Did it make them the villains? Did it mean that they were responsible for the exit of 'better' teams? Look at the current Sania phenomenon - she was the underdog when she played Venus Williams, and Maria Sharapova. She lost, but she was applauded for trying. Should she stop aiming for top honours because she is nowhere near these top players? Should she stop trying? If she defeats Venus or Maria, does it mean she is undeserving because she is ranked 36 and they are ranked in the top 10? Should we insult her because she lost in straight sets with a rather huge margin? Does it mean she doesn't have the ability to be a top player? Should she not have entered the Grand Slams because she was ranked 200th? The same goes for Qazi - he may not be the best singer in FG (he can definitely sing), but he can't be faulted for not trying. The public loves him for several reasons, one of which is the fact that he has been criticised and considered unworthy by everyone - faculty, students et al. Despite that he continues to strive and I think we should applaud him, encourage him, like we would applaud and encourage Sania. He is in a field where public adulation makes or breaks a career. Qazi has the support and we should respect the decision of the public who are the ultimate judges. Where would Shahrukh be if the public didn't watch his movies? For all those who think Qazi doesn't deserve to be in Fame Jodi, my advice to them is - take a chill pill or else try and outnumber his supporters in votes! Moreover, as they say - aaj marey, kal doosra din (roughly translated - today we die, tomorrow is another day). In two weeks time, the show will end; in two months time, people will have forgotten the Fame Jodi and everyone who is arguing for or against Qazi will be doing the same for somebody else in some other show!!!
