No idea, Jamy. All I know about Kosala is with regards to Ramayan. I think by Dwapar Yug, it was split into 4 or 5 different kingdoms.

Kasi neighbors them, and I have read that the Kosala king Brihadbala used to command the troops of Kasi too. Thats the reason Ambika and Ambalika are sometime referred to as Kosala/Kasi princesses

Yes...I read in a book once that in early Vedic age Brahmins not only had meat but also had beef...
The concept of beef being taboo in Hinduism came in much later...

Remember the story of Agyasta muni who was invited for a meal by 2 rakshas brothers...one of whom turned into a goat n was fed to Agyasta muni...So that proves they had meat... 😊

Kunti kingdom was roughly today's north west Madhya Pradesh & Kosala was somewhere in the middle of UP. Not so far.

10,000 Brahmins and their other staff - not a small number for Yudhi to feed. If Kunti asked Vidur to provide the money from HP, that would be a lot, no? That to on a daily basis - this is not a one time event. I was under the assumption that, assuming Karna's dad was, say the king of kosala, she asked his help (under cover, ofcourse). But then again, why would Yudhi accept help from an unknown person? Pride would come into be at that time.

I guess then, other than the divine aspect, there is no answer to who helped them.

Oh ok. But still they did have many people with them and Yudhi used hold discourses with Brahmins during that time. Unless the P's managed to hunt very well, for all 3 meals for 12 yrs, I don't see how exactly the meal situation was handled. Even if they did hunt, what about other food items that they needed?

How can fake Durvasa be having diadem, armlets etc? Surya who appeared before Kunti was well adorned with ornaments. Diadem represents sovereignty which indicates he was a king. And he 'rose' from the east; Kosala was roughly on the east of Kunti. And he does not seem to be having a beard. So I think he was a Kosala king.

If he was a Kosala King, then why not marry Kunti? They could claim they had a marriage after their tryst, couldn't they?
