Nice topic! From what I gather from the updates Ratan didn't have a problem with voting she had an issue with herself being the one in the unfortunate situation of making the casting vote.

After Bansuri's taunts she knew that either way she voted would come underfire; either for showing bias towards her daughter or coming under pressure and favouring Baldev.

Personally like others I feel that Ratan blundered by stepping down from her post. No one said being Sarpauch was easy and furthermore its obvious that making difficult decisions is part and package of any role/job which requires individuals to a take a leadership role.

She should have stuck to her guns and explained clearly why she was making the choice she did and overrode anyone's taunts. From what I saw of the episode only Bansuri had issues with her voting everyone else was fine with her being the casting voter.

She knew she had village support and surely that should have given her the confidence to shut Bansuri up. Worst case scenario if Bansuri persists would be either to challenge to Bansuri to prove that she was being biased with actual proof or open up the school/mall issue to a full-scale Pind vote.
