Honestly I have this question for the makers of most shows which have newcomers.
I have seen this happen so many times now, that it seems pretty clear that sometimes the makers are not concerned about acting. They just see if the person fits the role.
As for Shivin, I agree with ST, he does look like bada Ranvi. And yep the CVs are equally to be blamed for the butchering of Ranvi, there is only so much an actor can do.

(Shall I edit the comment about the no.1 show?)

Cherry@ Acting should be the first criteria for choosing any actor for a role, Looks should be only secondary, that's my belief as well! Coz only a good actor can put life and soul to a fictional charcter! Looks can only take you to a certain levers after that everything will fall flat without impact!

Chidiya@ Iam sure, the stammering would've been less, yes! 😆... But I don't know, I've always felt acting can make a lot difference to a character like how Suraj character is been played out!

Rashi@ Thanks sharing your views!😊

I think the writer are more at fault here!
In an attempt to make him an innocent, simple guy... they ended up making him a completely spineless person and a doormat.
Completely opposite of his childhood self!
I wld be lying if I say that I didnt start watching the show post leap for Shivin!
Like many others I was also looking forward to watch him play the older version of Ranvi.
I felt that he was a perfect choice for this character cos he looked quite similar to Bhavesh!
But honestly speaking after watching 2-3 epi... I was bored to death!
I left watching the show after just one week until I randomly stumbled upon Baldev's entry scene... the rest is history!

Ranvi's character post leap was that of simple, innocent & reserved guy who was very strongminded & determined!
He is used to take every damn decision & even Ratan had to bow down infront of his wishes many times!
No one had the guts to do any sort of nonsense infront of him!
But now he just doesnt know wat to do.
Ultimate cry baby... sulking over everything!
Cant take a stand for his loved ones, cant take any decision on his own, has to be convinced to do every damn thing, lied and married a girl who left no stone unturned to humiliate & insult him & his family, didnt bother to clear the doubts of his mother who was under the impression that her son has molested a girl... I mean WTH!!
Was this how Ranvi's character was supposed to shape up post leap?!
I dont think so... they just ruined such an awesome character so badly that its just intolerable to watch him onscreen!
And an actor cant do much to save the character he plays wen the character itself is so horrible!
But still I think Shivin is a very average actor!
He has never been able to impress me till now & I dont think he'll ever be able to do that... thanks to Ranvi's characterisation I can never like him!
He's just painfully boring to watch and his stammering is something which makes me feel like banging his head on the wall!
Not to forget the ungli dance!

The cvs just dont know how to write simple characters.
You can definitely make a selfless & simple character without going overboard and making it spineless or look like a doormat!

agree with you..bhavesh truly did awesome acting...Shivin shud get into the character...in one of his IV he told that he is copying the style of chhota ranvi...is he??😕😕

Copying someone or something never helps until person understands the meaning and what to copy.
He first needs to understand his role... But i guess now its of no use and story has gone far ahead leaving Ranvi - The Anokhi Maa in the dark... So better they shud move on that track only.

Devika@ That's my point as well, Shivin isn't the best choice for Ranvi! Thanks for sharing your views!

Mohini@ Even I wouldn't lie, post leap I found Shivin perfect for doing Ranvi,. Coz he looked like the much improved older version of Bhavesh.! But after that something was missing in him. The fire of Ranvi was missing in Shivin. He couldn't pull off the angry, intense version of Ranvijay. He's good in romance! That's what I found him good all in all! And yeah I agree with you, his characterisation has been badly written! Especiall the way RanJan marriage held, it was disastrous.. Ranvi's character butchering started from the moment Gunjan fooled him with her fake love!

Ranvi's character can become better only if they keep making Veera caring and shararti, but leave the wisdom and phylosophies for Ranvi!!!

Is Ranvi the first 'mahaan, selfless cum doormat' character of SP? I dont think so. I know of many leads with the same characterization. Seriously speaking such characters are an instant hit with TRP audience. But they arent this irritating. My mum can be bracketed in this 'TRP audience' and she completely hates the character. Lets face it, the actor needs to improve a lot. Writers just wrote a character very similar to other shows thinking it would be lapped up by the audiences as well. But it didnt. And I think the actor needs to sit and think how he can make this character work. Because I defn know of an actor with exact similar characterisation whose acting made all the difference and TRP audience loves him.

I was so happy when I heard Shivin is selected for the role of Ranvi -- but all hopes thrashed in the scene where he was giving award to veera . In attempt to appear innocent , he came across as mentally retarded .he has read his character so so wrongly ..

And if he is definitely copying Bhavesh , Bhavesh didnt stammer, he was not showing his batheesi unnecessarily , he didnt do ungli dance or neck shaking ,, these are the particular actors contributions

And the actor , pls understand people react differently for different situations . I can understand Ranvi getting hyper if there is some issue with Veera , but Shivin potrayed Ranvi getting equally hyper for Sonia( in day before yesterday's episode) .. See there his problem of his less talent in acting coming up

I differ with sayani-chidiya , acting does matter a lot ...
Even if the scene is bad, a good actor will make it appear convicing to the audience ...

I agree the writing of this show is lackluster but am not really sure who is at fault here..The writers or the actor in question 😆 Cos the writing of this show sucks in general..I don think Baldev is a brilliantly written character either..The writers have made him do outrageous things in the name of humor & there is zilch character consistency..They obviously justify the same by calling Baldev unpredictable but IMO, the writing of all the characters on this show is mediocre..Not like its only Ranvi who is bearing the brunt while Baldev / Vishal is backed by a brilliant set of writers..Vishal has had to enact equal number of lame / cringe-worthy scenes which make no sense whatsoever..But that is where you see the difference a good actor can make to a badly written scene..Vishal makes Baldev look better only because he is a good actor..If a lesser actor was playing Baldev, the character would have fallen flat..Its not like say a Raman Kumar Bhalla where the writers & the actor equally contribute in making the character charming/ layered..80% of the work is done by Vishal( and his eyes) 😆 The writers merely contribute 20 %. 😆 So more than the writers, i'l blame Shivin here..He totally looks the part IMO..But his body language is awkward as hell..Not to forget his stammering & overacting..Even a decently written scene can be ruined if the actor in question overacts & stammers through it..So more than the writers, its the actor at fault..And yeah, Shivin can probably do better under a better director & a better set of writers but for that, he first needs to take a crash course on acting..And yes, please get rid of that awkward body language..
