Its not the actors its their characters its the f'd up story & dir

I don't understand why ppl/fans are hating or rags n want her exit, every show has a vilian so whats so diff about this 1...? Its not rags its the f'd up story and direction their was no need for the wedding at all, it seems lyk they have forgot about the reason rana married rags.. N then the whole reason Gayatri kept a lock on her mouth (rana being a son of a wh*re...) So much happened at the time Gayatri breakdown rana being rude 2 her closing the door on her face gifing rags a dress:-... Nothing was solved no communication btwn RAGA n romance kikd in full spead n then disgusting dailogues about waris which made raga relationship look more disgusting desperate n disgraceful then it alrdy was... N know all of a sudden (lol) their together in teaching rags a lesson lyk really? Whers the logic or continuity in the story?? N BRM she's more of a joker n OTT wit her expressions in her acting its not the actorsbfault it the direction n story jus lyk rags they could have used rags in a better way (vamp wit class) but no they went the cheap way jus like the show n specailly raga relationship 🤢

Lakan n swarna r more interesting n suit the "true love" n "eternal" tag more... N lakan is more interesting n attractive in his act then rana 100 times over... thats my opinion:-)) i ship swarna n lakan :-))...

I don't watch the show I don't plan 2 eitha, but swarna husband lakash is gay so his perants bought in lakhan 2 get her pregnant (lol again for waris) but lakhan started falling in love wit swarna n cared for her n same wit swarna she also started falling for lakhan:-)) so out of respect for swarna he'z not touched her... Since we are disussing story and characterization and actors let's not have double standards!

I mean I have nothing against anyone in the show or against any actor I may like or dislike a character ( I like none as nothing is left!!) but I have nothing against any actor because as I said the real raja is the story and the real rani is the characterization and since we are at it, how can we think of Lakan as any better than Rana!! He is a man who was brought to bed a married woman (I know her husband is gay) and all this for money, how does that make him pure and unique!! I know they romanticized the whole thing after that by making him stand for her some few times and never forcing himself on her but he was intimidating many times and even if they showed it as if he is redeemed we can't ignore what he was when he first entered the show, he was ready to sleep with her for money and he didn't flinch when Kunwars were threatning her to kill her dad if she doesn't accept!

I would have condoned it if it was a pretense of him and he never really meant to do it and he had another agenda maybe, if he just pretended that in front of others and actually entered the rajmahal for some other political ya personal motive but the way they showed him first it was just plain cheap too!!
In the beginning some even compared Swarna's feelings to a victim suffering from the stockholm syndrome

It's just to say that Rana who is "supposedly" a good fair king who has no bad intentions, is actually not perceived as such because of the bad presentation and the illogical forced justification to his actions which make you hate him even more! as there is no consistency and lately even amnesia, the scapegoat of every single track add to that the lack of assertivity, proactivity and passion in many of his actions

So unfortunately the presentation made him seem like the worst/weak heros even when the idea was to show his good intentions to balance between duty/justice and love, but since the whole premise wasn't justified, was illogical and senseless, he came as a person who doesn't investigate and who doesn't have the right to talk about love since he never trusted his love at first place and went ahead with a marriage that destroyed them!

But Lakan was liked because inspite of what he was when first shown, a person who is just after money and who doesn't care about sleeping with an innocent woman who is being forced into this whole matter , he was liked by some for caring for her and fighting Lakshraj for her

So one should admit that no matter what are intentions or forced justification it's the presentation that actually leaves an impact!!

So either we accept that it's the writing and the characterization that failed or we admit when we are biased! because in the show all characters are pathetic be it the positive or the negative ones, the only character who was never butchered is Govind Seth!


Edited to add : And yes I agree that it's not Rageshwari or the actress the problem (even if the presentation of the character is kind of cheap), it's the story which is the problem because they showed that leads can't handle the vamp, in some other shows there were always vamps who tried to seduce the hero but when hero is strong and intelligent and when there is trust and real love between leads, vamp could never tarnish their relationship even if she succeeded to create some issues which were mainly related to the insecurities of the lead and not because the hero was fooled by her!

iv stopped watching completely but because my fave DD is apart of this show im still on this forum n keep tabs on the shows twists n turns specailly gayatri character... but day by day it gets more and more disgusting, i honestly cant wait for the show to end (like next month) i hope or DD quits... i no some might not agree with my view point but its how it is i can't stand the character rana he's been a let down right from the start and its a total put off (like i don't find him attractive at all) so when i see raga in the same screen space it makes me sick🤢 i no i sound harsh but i can't help it...

See all this is because of writing and not respecting the original story and versions along with the huge butchering, if we can accept that Gayatri and other characters have been butchered then why aren't we accepting that Rana too was butchered, and not recently, he has been butchered, slaughtered and killed mercelessly many times not once and woh bhi from so many months now without forgetting the few little inconsistencies from first few months

Butchering happened with almost all characters, It's just that with other characters butchering started far too late while with Rana it was always him who was made the scapegoat for every track and every drama to work, you want a villain to come inside the house butcher rana, you want heroine to fight and do her pativrata patni duty and done all the avatars of savitri, durga, lakshmi, saraswati, meera,Rukmini, Radha, butcher rana ... they made a joke of his character, some people had no problem back then because heroine was fighting and strong, she wasn"t butchered in a bad way though she was made look like other heroines from other shows and she kind of lost some of the flaws she had in the past that made her extremely endearing and very relatable but still I loved her as I love strong heroines though I hate it when it's always about farz and dharm, as I said some people had no problem then because they just wanted heroine strong rest didn't matter but for the general audience who was here because of what was promised initially which is the love story of a king and a queen and how a commoner will grow to become a queen and win people's love and her king's love, we had a problem as never in the package the king was supposed to be butchered, the title is ek tha raja ek thi rani, so we suppose that the story is about both otherwise they could have just called it Ek thi rani



I know many had a problem with Rana over mourning his dead wife and Cvs for a very long time concentrated on that aspect and didn't focus on the other aspects that as per the first episodes were part of his original characterization. Rana is supposed to ba a fair, perceptive and just king, a gentleman yet with inner demons in the form of the death of his first wife and the the wounds of the world war. the few inconsistencies in the beginning though I'm against many of them could easily be interprested as a man who is torn between duty and love yes we expected a king to be more ressourceful than just trying to sell a mahal for the debt and not be majbor to marry a woman for that but this is was part of the story a widower king will be forced marry a commoner to clear the debts but we all know how much he hated that and wanted to have more time to solve things he was blackmailed but his intentions were always to help his people and do good, why did we forget that this is the man being the king who saved a commoner's life when he could have easily asked someone else to do it, why did we forget that this man is the man who was against parties and any stupid expenses because his paraja were more deserving of this money, he is the same king who prefered to marry and sarifice himself than see his people burdened with taxes, he refused it outright to increase taxes, if he was a reckless and a bad king he wouldn't have given a damn about his people, he is the king who fought a duel for his queen's honor, and though I was against the way it happened he is the same king who abdicated because he didn't want his dear wife to live and bigamy!!! and you are telling me that since inception he was bad, sorry no it's his butchered version only the man who never accepted extra expenses and was against taxes can never bet Amerkoot, can never hand over his throne to chacha knowing what kind of people his is, this is pure butchering! the man who made sewakas taste his wife's food and who kidnapped chacha to know the truth about her accident and suspected the attempts against her to be done on purpose can never trust an enemy like Avdesh!! they kept butchering and butchering and butchering him till he became unrecongnizable!! and when creative were asked she said he was naive!!! he was never naive let's face it yes he was harsh to Gayatri when he thought she lied to him, he didn't give her the benefit of doubt and thought she is manipulative I know he was biased here and I don't defend his stance but to tell me that he was reckless enough to gamble his kingdom and to trust a man like Avdesh that's heights!!

About the desperate lust part as you call it, this is the same man who kept being faithful to his late wife for 6 years without caring about any other woman in an era where kings used to have multiple wifes, he is the man who had a beautiful stunning wife like Gayatri yet he never thought of her that way till the day he accepted her as his wife and cleared the misconception he had of her, he is the man who spent months and months after marriage and still didn't consummate his marriage!!!
And it's not like he was a man who women didn't care about, he had an impact on women if Rajkumari sharmila and Gayatri are any proofs, without forgetting that even Rageshwari who came to attack and kill him wasn't indifferent! apart from Gayatri and real Sulakshna whom he claimed to love I have never seen the man take any initiative towards any woman


What made you think he is desperate is because they rushed the love story, but if a man accepts his wife won't he be willing to take things to the next level! and here I agree they should have cleared their misunderstandings and talked all the serious matters before going ahead, as he married another woman and that's a serious thing and didn't trust his wife, so Gayatri should have a big problem with that, surprinsingly she thinks she is as much responsible as him and she seems ok but for me I had a big problem with this lack of trust in every track and from Rana's side though he has never hidden anything in his life and was always straightforward still went ahead with marriage and he should not forget why he was angry at first place with Gayatri, her hiding a secret from him!, unless the fact that she was about to drown in that poisonous river made him overlook it!!! I don't know to be honest show is full of stupidy, inconsistencies, bloopers, cheapness that I can't make any sense of it, all I know is in the first episodes this wasn't the case

Script, execution and editing all these things matter, they help the acting a lot, DD's previous jodis worked because all this was there at least in the first phases of the show and people could relate to the couple, the male leads were good actors but not perfect ones they had their shortcomings too but with the good script and well written characters people overlooked the rest!

ETA : But yes I confess the previous jodi was intense, epic and passionate even when the hero was very grey and twisted at times, story, dialogues, strong leads, intensity and passion without forgetting how much good looking they looked together made that jodi epic, I don't think any other jodi on indian Tv can be as much entertaining and unique as them but we can't deny that story and characterization dialogues and execution and also the huge screen space and the focus on the couple made them shine warna we know that the same actors were there in the second season but it was a disaster inspite of them being always good looking, and the answer as I always say is story and characterization!

Script, execution and editing all these things matter, they help the acting a lot, DD's previous jodis worked because all this was there at least in the first phases of the show and people could relate to the couple, the male leads were good actors but not perfect ones they had their shortcomings too but with the good script and well written characters people overlooked the rest!

ETA : But yes I confess the previous jodi was intense, epic and passionate even when the hero was very grey and twiste at times, story, dialogues, strong leads, intensity and passion without forgetting how much good looking they looked together made that jodi epic, I don't think any other jodi on indian Tv can be as much entertaining and unique as them but we can't deny that story and characterization dialogues and execution and also the huge full screen and the focus on the couple made them shine warna we know that the same actors were there in the second season but it was a disaster inspite of them being always good looking, and the answer as I always say is story and characterization!

Yes but if u see at it we all agree on the fact that writing and story went haywire and they didn't make Rana likeable to audience with their presentation, Gayatri keeps making sacrifices one after one, putting her life and self respect at stake for a man who unfortunately never trusts her or stands by her side in crucial times, this is what Cvs did to their hero, making him like a man who takes his devoted wife for granted and who seems at times more like an enemy to her than her hero! his reactions lack intensity and strength and obviously some lack even logic (obviously I hated that too as even me being a patient person I couldn't stand it because it wasn't entertaining at all while some grey and twisted heros were way more entertaining and passionate)!

I just wanted to clear that as people might think I'm biased when the truth is that I gave up on this show months ago, the day they started dumbing the hero down and making the heroine utter pativrata patni/savitri/durga dialogues! the first big disappointment obviously was already the rushed 'supposedly' love story! but I still maintain that when show first started even Rana's character was promising and had many likeable things to his actif but a character who isn't developped especially to prove his love and proactiveness will not appeal to people!

Anyways I'll end it here too, as the whole show doesn't deserve commenting but some sense of fairness makes me always want to state facts the way they are even if people might disagree, in my humble opinion the pros and cons both should be mentioned and the same set of rules should be used for all actors and for all characters!

I respect your view and appreciate your efforts for putting so much thought to my topic and for wording your view and thoughts so beautifully...
For me both the main leads are butchered... Rana never appealed to me i found it very hard to connect with this character:-( gayatri character I really liked in the beginning strong courageous and ambitious but this character has also been butchered and is very unlikeable... And raga as pair their notting their they are not appealing at all, thiers no connection or better yet theirs no sense or logic to their love...

Like very truly said its the story/writers and direction thats ahuge failure...its to late to salvage know raga hardly have a fanbase and if the main lead are lacking to connect with the audience what is their left to show..
