I am hoping against hope that the segments are not being interpreted right. To the best of my knowledge, there was no mention that Gayathri would be wagered. I think we are all drawing these inferences thanks to the Mahabharat reference made in the segment,
However, if there is any truth to this inference, I think that any woman with her head and heart in the right place would strongly condemn the objectification of a women on this show.

A woman is not a possession. Not even in the 1940s was she one. She cannot be offered as a prize in a bet or a wager. Nobody has the right to do that to her, not even her husband or father or children! She cannot be deprived of her agency under any circumstances.

In the name of glorifying women etc, if they show such a track, it would be absolutely demeaning and worthy of strong condemnation.

Can we say that losing her in a bet and publicly disrobing Panchali was acceptable because it made her a strong woman?

Why should a woman have to go through such debasement in order to emerge strong? Isn't Gayathri a strong woman already? Does she need to be objectified for her to emerge strong?

If Rana ji ever wagered Gayathri away, I would be the first person to say the she should walk away from him and lead an independent life of her own. Panchali may have lived with her husbands even after her humiliation. However, Gayathri need not! She already broke the Rajput tradition of women not coming to the battlefield by claiming that she wanted to be her husband's dhaal! Would such a woman then accept tradition and honor the terms of her husband's bet or even live with him thereafter?

If Rana ji actually did such a thing, can he remain the hero thereafter? What kind of a love story would it be then? A strong woman with a high degree of self respect will continue to live with and love a man who lost her in a bet?

How can viewers ever connect to their story thereafter? How can you connect to a story where you absolutely despise one of the characters? Because, I would think Rana ji would only be worthy of deep contempt if he ever pulled such a stunt!

I know the show makers and the channel are hungry for TRPs. However, is destroying the very essence of the show and objectifying a woman the way to go about it? This track may have viewership but what about thereafter? Who will be interested in the love story thereafter? Certainly not me, I have no reason to invest my time and emotion on a love story where the man is a spineless coward apart from being a brainless buffoon!

Please think twice before such a dangerous move, Creatives...because this is a one way street...go down this road and you are setting yourselves up for disaster thereafter. You are bringing on the show's end with your own efforts!

You are selling your souls to the devil besides. No amount of hunger for TRPs can make you think that such a move is acceptable. Where a woman is objectified and made the subject of a bet or a wager..!

I sincerely hope and pray that I am wrong on this.

If not, God help this show and its creatives!

Agree with u Bertie
One thing i have to say is i trust Rnj, I strongly believe that he wont bet G in a gamble not even in his inebriated state. Like you said, nowhere in the segment they said that G is used as a bet. I think its just an assumption of metromasti site or similar sites . We can't completely rely on these articles, if there is any. Because they often makes some wild guesses and publish it without a second thought.

I am hoping against hope that it is a misinterpretation...but if it is not, the makers need to get a strong message that a sensible, discerning audience will reject the show along with the track..!

Truth girldfriend! I haven't seen the segments so I can't comment on that. But if what you say is true it would really piss me off. Creating drama for the sake of interesting TV is one thing but I cannot get behind this trend of making our heroes do truly horrible things and then have our heroines fall in love with them anyway. Men and women alike make mistakes and do horrible things sometimes but the way creators show it, it's almost as if there are two different heroes, one before love and one after. Asad slapping Zoya, Arnav throwing Khushi out of a window, etc. but if Ranaji were to do this, it would be even worse than all the stupid physical violence shown. I guess only time will tell if that's truly the direction the show is going in or if those are just baseless inferences.

Totally agree...!

If this actually happens, I would never want to see Ranaji - Gayathri's love story thereafter...I would rather she left him forever and made a life of her own...she does not need to be wife or Queen to an unworthy man/ King.

I would also rather see Gayatri and Ranaji help someone else together, but the family is not that large, and Swarna is too scared to tell them anything. Because these MU tracks between them is getting more filthy.

Can't they ever work together and fight a common enemy...why are they always being pitted against each other...we just saw a track that was about trust...the same thing is getting repeated with a different antagonist...it is getting both repetitive and irritating..!

And yes, filthy is a good word to use to describe what they are doing with the show and the characters..!

I haven't watched the segments.
If their assumptions come true and rnj bets Gayathri then that's the end of ETR

They can never redeem his character

This is just a soap . Not mahabharatha. And Mahabharata incidents were to teach something to humanity

For sid and DD sake I hope they don't go to this extreme

Those in Twitter should start letting Nilanjana know they can't stoop to any level for TRP

in fact am praying that trp stops next week with this avdesh

This kinda reminds me of the BBC series Poldark, if you haven't seen it then I highly recommend it, it's absolutely wonderful especially for people who like period stuff.

In that show there is a scene where the hero Poldark who is a lord, wagers his mine, pretty much the only thing of value he owns and after losing which he and his people would be driven to poverty and very likely debtors prison, on a game of cards in an inebriated state(or so we think) despite his wife pleading him not to (thankfully he does not wager his wife although he does wager her necklace which he just gifted her when she offers it to him) and at the time he is on a losing streak, so we all think he is drunk and going to lose everything...except that at the last moment he catches his opponent cheating red handed and we come to know that he knew all along that the opponent was cheating but he wanted to catch him red handed with evidence. Ross Poldark was smart, let's see what creatives make Ranaji.

I am hoping this would turn out something like that depends on how smart or dumb creatives want to make Ranaji. I do not think they will make Ranaji wager Gayatri, all this time they have shown him treat Gayatri as an equal not a possession, so I do not think they will destroy Ranaji this way.

Also so far none of the tracks have turned out the way they have been reported, the real thing has always been better than media reports, so let's not lose hope and condemn Ranaji and creatives so soon.
