I'm going to weigh in on this topic - sorry if this upsets anyone.
While I agree with SOME of what Damyanti is saying - that sitting at home, wallowing in self pity and regret isn't going to get you anywhere, you have to get up and fight or at least face the situation head on - I feel she's only motivating Gayatri coz she doesn't want her to be "adhuri suhagaan" returned to her "maayka"
First of all I abhor this regressive mindset of - you're a guest in your fathers' home till marriage/post marriage your sasural is your all etc. I don't think women/daughters can ever be "Given" away - they are not property of furniture. As a woman how do you turn your back to the family/home that makes you the person you are today? Granted this is 1940s era but the message is supposedly contemporary - Gayatri's dad treats his daughter no different than a boy, he's completely capable and supportive of standing by her side regardless of what may come - that's very progressive. Even in 2015 i'm certain there are countless fathers who treat their daughters as a burden - but not Govind Seth circa 1940s.
Damyanti's motivating speech - in my opinion - was more driven by not wanting to deal with the stigma of a married daughter returned to her maayka - not saying she doesn't care for Gayatri's happiness - but her motivation is clearly driven by an additional objective.
Gayatri needs to stand up for herself and fight for her rights - Rajmata was right in that regard - she is a Queen now - she has responsibilities that are above her personal desires. Being a queen comes with a price - the duty to your people.
Gayatri left home - that was the wife Gayatri suffering from the heartbreak upon the realization she has no place in her husband's life or heart. Queen Gayatri needs to make a come back - I hope Gayatri is able to sort thru her emotional turmoil and return to the Rajmahel to fulfill her duties and express the same to Ranaji. I would love to see her come back and after Ranaji is done with his taunts - put him in his place and reiterate that she was crowned Rani Gayatri Devi - she has no interest in playing wife to him as he's reserved that right for his dead wife, she is back to be the Queen to the people she represents to fulfill her duties - she isn't here for him - let there be no mistake. I want to see that fire.
