A month later
2 of Kalpi's cell mates are anxiously waiting by the barred window, eager for some update from the prison guard. Turing to face Priya, a menacing looking woman, who is the leader of the cell, Geeta says, "we must avenge this. Even if Kalpi is against violence. The girl has spent most of her time in the infirmary since she has come.
Ignoring the worry and anger in her voice, Priya looks up from the book she is reading and says, "there is no need. They are targeting her because she is rich. The tables have turned... they have an opportunity to hurt somebody rich. They will eventually stop. I am sure her family will try and get her out.
Anchal, stops folding her clothes, looks up and says, "her bail was rejected. Mina who was standing by the window with Geeta walks up to anchal. Sits next to her and says with a shudder, "there was so much blood this time. I think it is serious. They took her to the hospital, not the infirmary.
Groggy, Kalpi lifts her right arm. Surprised to find her movement restricted as she wonders why she is soar all over, she turns her head slowly to her right... Before she can ask where she is, officer sanjana say, "you are in the hospital. Turning to her attoney, Kalpi asks, "uncle why are you here? Officer sanjana replies, "he was needed... to sign the consent forms for your surgery.
"Surgery, Kalpi parrots, startled. Recollecting the attack in the laundry room by some of her prison mates, she says, "I did not realize that I was severely injured. I thought it would be like usual... cuts and bruises. Did they break a bone this time?
Pressing her lips tight, angry with herself for failing to protect the prisoner under her charge, her eyes filled with sorrow and regret, officer sanjana says, "you suffered a miscarriage. Placing her palm on Kalpi's she continues softly, "did you not realize you were pregnant?
Shaking her head as she tries to comprehend what her ears are hearing, Kalpi exclaims, "I am pregnant, Her hand automatically reaching for her flat stomach. Caressing it, she says with disbelief, "are you sure... pregnant. Teary eyed, Officer sanjana, repeats, "you were pregnant. You suffered a miscarriage. "I didn't know, Kalpi whispers earnestly as she tightens her hold on officer sanjana's hand, "if I knew I would have... ... protected my baby Kalpi ends up thinking... not sure how she would do it, but certain that she would have done something.
Turning to her attorney, Kalpi asks, "does Ragav know? Attorney Kumar shakes his head negatively. Kalpi adds, "Mum? Attorney Kumar shakes his head negatively again. Watching a sedated Kalpi, angry bruises covering her face and arms, Attorney Kumar turns to officer sanjana and says, "I am requesting you to please allow her recuperate and heal before you take her back to prison. Teary eyed, he continues, "I have watched her grow up... pigtails and all. Such a gentle, cheerful soul. I would always see her in the garden looking after bruised animals. Please let her fully recover before you take her back.
Storming into Ragav's house, maya says with disbelief, "I can't beleive it. You really quit. Walking in nonchalantly after her, Ragav sits on the sofa, not bothering to answer her. Maya turns around, her eyes take several seconds to adjust to the darkness of the room. Angry with him for being unable to get past Kalpi being in jail and refusing to meet him and with herself for thinking that things would get back as it was with Kalpi out of the way, maya takes furious strides towards the windows... opens the curtains. Both squint... blink rapidly as their eyes adjust to the brightness streaming in.

The hurt in her eyes when he last saw her was etched in his mind, haunting him day and night. Closing his eyes in the hope that the image would dissipate... all in vain, filled with regret, Ragav says, "I never thought I would put an innocent person in jail. I have failed.
Frustrated with him, Maya says, "it was not you. It was me. I was the leading prosecutor. Staring at her sharply, he asks angrily for the hundredth time, "why did you do it? Had we not agreed that we would not ask for jail time.
Feeling guilty, Maya repeats her lies in her defence, "I thought it was all an act. I didn't really believe that Kalpi's father was in coma. I thought the jail time would bring about the truth.
Sighing deeply, annoyed at her reason, Ragav snaps, "Kalpi doesn't lie. "Are you calling me a liar," maya snaps, her eyes glaring angrily. "What? Ragav asks in confusion, his sharp as he wonders at the direction of the conversation.
Realising her mistake, Maya screams, "Enough. Just stop it, adding, "how many times are we going to have this conversation! Angry at Ragav for defending Kalpi and at herself for the faux pas.
