This was my (technically) second fantasy story but the first with mythical characters and truly loved writing it..

A big battle had just ended and peace was again brought back to the town.. Days after that I went in the woods with Mehina.. We were strolling around when we heard some noises and ran in that direction..
A small terrified boy stood before a wolf and Raghav was shielding him.. They circled each other for a while and then Raghav immediately lit a stick on fire with some equipment and with its help drove the wolf away..
Mehina approached him and..
"Thanked him for not killing the wolf", unknowingly the words left my lips and Maya stared at me.. How did I know??
"No.. I won't do it .. I'm sorry Kalpana..", and she again tried to leave but I stopped her .."Why?? I remember some things now but I need your help.. Why can't you tell me?? I really want to know"..
"BECAUSE THEN YOU'LL DIE!!", she yelled," Just like her..", I held her hands and made her sit beside me again.. "I'll die any way.. If something happens to Raghav and that too because of me I'll die and don't worry I've promised him I won't ever hurt myself..", convinced by what I said she continued..
That day in the woods was just a start.. They met again and again and eventually fell in love... Mehina was an ordinary girl and the Prince fell in love with her, this was envied by others..
It was a week before the coronation ceremony..
"Coronation??", I asked confused.. Raghav was still a prince then how's it that the coronation was supposed to be five year's before.. Maya explained me then," For a prince to be a king he should first attain minimum 25 years of age, after that the priests look for an auspicious day when the stars are perfectly aligned.. Its a once in 5 years phenomenon..", I nodded in understanding and she continued narrating the past..
A week before the coronation ceremony Mehina was coming back after visiting Raghav and one of the village girls told her about the prophecy, not everyone knew about it and those who did were forbidden to speak about it but she did it anyway because of her envy towards Mehina and Raghav..
She came to talk about it to me as she had noone else to talk to and I.. Maya stopped and after few minutes said," I wish I hadn't but .. I told her to talk to Raghav about it..".. The next day she went to the palace.. Raghav wasn't there.. This continued for few more days and finally on the coronation day she met him.. She asked him about the prophecy and thinking it was safe he told her the truth..
She couldn't bear the truth.. Few hours before Raghav wore the crown she drank poison thinking that if she died no harm will happen to Raghav but she was wrong.. The high priest tried to cure her but was unsuccessful and that's when he told the fact that no one knew, the Valkyrie Suava will keep taking rebirths till she herself takes away her lover's life and if she doesn't do so then they both die so that they can come back to fulfill the prophecy..
And done.. Wearing my great grandfather's ancestral robe I stood before the mirror.. Just few more hours and it'll all be fine..
"Prince", a voice came from the door and I turned to look at my visitor, he was one of the priests.. "The high priest wishes to see you..".. Why now??.. "No disrespect but the King has asked me to meet him..", and I walked towards the door to leave but he said," Miss Kalpana is there too..".. "What?? But why??", I looked at him angrily and he lowered his eyes..
If that priest does anything to my Kalpi, I'll forget everything and kill him..
I entered the priests chamber..The high priest and Kalpi stood before the Valkyrie idol..I smiled at her but weirdly she didn't return the smile and hes eyes.. For me she was always an open book, her eyes were a pathway to her feelings but now she looked like an emotionless, lifeless body..
My eyes moved towards her hand and what I saw eyes widen in shock, I couldn't believe that my love, my Kalpi could hurt me but.. What was happening?? And before he could think more about it I felt some sharp pain on my head and everything was engulfed by darkness but just before that I heard some words," Good", the female voice said.. My kalpi said..
Few hours later
Kalpana looked at Raghav's unconscious body and lifted the knife.. Her heart thudded violently against her chest but she knew she had to do this and she will.. She will take his life..
Flashback
"You can't!!", the high priest said, "He'll die anyway", she replied to him rudely.."Either I kill him and the curse ends or he dies and the cycle continues.. But I need your help in doing it.."
"This what you are destined for.. ", he whispered in Kalpana's ears again," To kill him.. To kill Raghav ". She lifted the dagger..
Flashback
"Its time", the high priest said and Kalpana looked at the glass idol in front of her. Bowing down in front of it she picked up the dagger.. "Kalpana..", he said and she got up..
Gulping away her emotions she turned around with a stone-face and walked with him to the centre of the chamber.. "This what you are destined for.. ", he whispered in my ears," To kill him.. To kill Raghav "
She lifted the dagger and pierced his heart and yelled in pain as if the dagger was pierced in her heart..
The noise made the King rush to the priest's chamber and what they witnessed was unbelievable.. A bright light shone in the room and the king and the priest closed their eyes and when they opened it they saw her..
"Suava", the priest whispered and knelt before her and so did the king.. Her brown skin glowed, her black hair where let loose and she now had a pair of big white wings, she truly was Suava, the beautiful Valkyrie..
As a father, the king was in despair but no one could escape fate and trying his best he controlled his emotions.. He looked up again to see what was happening and he saw the priest hand over something, on looking carefully he saw that it was a bloodied dagger, the once which had pierced Raghav's chest and taking the dagger in her hand she pierced it in her heart..
"What's happening??", the king asked shocked, a Valkyrie was one of God Odin's soldier and her death would bring his wrath.. The priest saw her feathers shed away, while she went near Raghav and placed her hand over his pierced heart.. She could hardly breath while going through that pain but still she went near him, going near his ears she whispered," When the trickster, tricked the moon's lover she used her power.. She.. She used her power to bring back her lover.."
All her feathers had now shed away and her skin was slowly fading, it no more glowed and something shined bright.. A light shone in Raghav's heart and coughing he woke up while she fainted and fell down..
"How's she??", Raghav asked the high priest.. "Fine", he replied.. His words soothed Raghav's uneasy mind and he peeped in the room.. Kalpana laid their in the middle of the bed.. He turned back to the priest and kneeling down said," Thank you..", the priest made him get up and said," Don't thank me son, thank her.. She's the one who did this", Raghav looked at him confused and the priest told him..
Flashback
"You can't!!", the high priest said, "He'll die anyway", she replied to him rudely.."Either I kill him and the curse ends or he dies and the cycle continues.. But I need your help in doing it.."
"I won't help you.. I would never harm the prince", he said," And so wouldn't I", she replied.. The curse demands that I kill him but what if I give him another life.. "What??", the priest asked on not understanding what she really meant," Suava comes back to fulfill her duty, to kill her lover but God odin says that Valkyrie has other duties too.. And one of them is that She can only choose who dies in a BATTLE.. If a valkyrie kills someone who's not in the battle then she looses her powers and turns into a mortal while the dead mortal gets her powers as his boon of life.."
"I wish I could think about it but anyway someone did.. And I'm glad she did it..", the priest said and Raghav continued," So that any doubt I had on her love after what happened will be cleared..".. "Raghav", they heard a faint voice from the room.. Excusing himself he went to meet his beloved.. His moon who sacrificed her powers to have her lover.. His poison that proved to be his elixir..
