Chapter 2-B-1
Around the Mumbai City
[Guys Just to Let you all know, I am not typical Mumbai person, I am referring Google to know about it, and good places which are mostly travelled by tourist, I don't know... Am using search engines for the same.]
It was finally around 5.00 p.m. that, Raghav and Sammy came down and duo settled down in the car. Driving away, Kalpana stopped by Cab centre to pick up Prem. Prem really felt awkward about stupid plan drafted by kalpana, which made him TOURIST guide for his boss. And he literally felt weird to come out of this "Formal Equation" which he had always shared with Raghav. Singhaniyas had 4 branches across Mumbai and Thane District, and out of all the Branch manager it was Prem who was chosen by Raghav for assistance and undertaking of any new project Mr. Desai had suggested. All throughout the journey Prem gave looks to the kalpi which said, "Kahan phasa diya" (You have completely trapped in a worse way.) Kalpana couldn't do much more then inwardly giggle looking at Prem.
Raghav asked from backseat, "So where are we heading in your lovely city Mr. Kapoor?"
Prem looked at Kalpana pissed off, "Where are we... I mean Kahan jaa rahe hai hum Kalpana Jii..." asked Prem mockingly. Kalpana smiled looking at Prem, "Taj Mahal hamare sheher ka." Raghav immediately replied back, "I know I just landed in India today after 10 long years, but I have enough of general knowledge to tell me, Taj Mahal is in Agra ok! So don't fool me like you may always have had habit to fool other tourist and get..." Before he can continue, Sammy calmed him, "Relax Raghav, what she said is Taj Mahal of City..!! So I am sure like we have those in Las Vegas or Genting in Malaysia where some structures of famous places are replicated." Kalpana was now enjoying this discussion and assumption, Sammy turned to driver seat, "Hey, Kalpana please bura mat maan na, Raghav ki baato ka!" (Please don't feel bad about his words.) Kalpana looked at Sammy through mirror, "Bura kyun maanenge? Pehle batao toh ki sir ne kya kaha?? I am sure, Taarif hi hogi, afterall jiss din land hue ussi din hum who jagah dekhne jaa rahe hai jahan se bade bade log aaye hai?" Sammy was not confused and asked, "Bade Bade Log?"
Raghav:, "Sammy what is she saying?"
Sammy: "You are lucky, she didn't understand what you told her. And no she is talking about some place of big people..."
Kalpana smiles while her eyes do focus on two people in the back, "Ji, King George and Queen Mary." Prem rolls his eyes, "Yes, I was supposed to be tourist guide, but I guess even that can be played well by her only. First, I lose chance of project due to Mr. Desai, and now this whole tour thing!" He looks in the back trying to quit over riddle talks of Kalpana, "Sir, she means Gateway of India." Prem turns towards Kalpana, "You can..." Kalpana looks at him and signals him with wide eyes, "Hindi!", Prem continues, "Kalpana darling, tum na saari gupshup aur gossips na baad mein karna, ab drive karo please." And joins his hands. Kalpana laughs.! Raghav interrupts, "Wait! Even that is in Delhi, ..." He turns to Sammy and says in loud voice, "See I told you we are being fooled by these people, They themselves do not their city and now plan to deceive us. I had read it, even Indian Gate is in Delhi" Kalpana is now confused. She looks at Prem, "Prem, Mujhe Lagta hai... Tere sir ke English mein kuch locha hai... Inhe Angreji lesso.. Paath ki jarurat hai" (Prem, your sir really needs training in English, he seems to be bad at it.) Her words did make Raghav furious, "This lady herself do not know English and plans to preach me!" Kalpana however continues, "Ab dekhona, shabd ki adla badly aur do shabdo ke beech mein itna pada "PREPOSITION" najar andaaj kar rahe hai.!" Prem was irritated, "Kalpana can you please stop talking in riddles already!" "Kya??" came instant answer from Kalpana. Prem rolled his eyes, "Paheliya Bhujani bandh karo, aur..." Impatient angry Raghav completes it, "Come to the point."
Kalpana who is enjoying the torturing Raghav and Prem adds, "Dekho, ab point 1, Indian Gate kuch nai... Woh India Gate hai..." She looks at Prem, "Anuvaad kare..." Prem "Pehle you tell me Anuvaad kya hota hai?" Kalpana says, "Teranslate" Raghav adds, "I don't need any translation, continue your point!" Sammy says, "Sir ko Hindi thodi samaj mein aati hai, simple... I mean Saral rakho toh." Kalpana is trying hard to control her laughter which still appears in form of huge grin on her face, "Haan toh Dusri baar, woh India Gate jo hai, Delhi mein hai, aur yahan Mumbai mein jo hai use kehte hai "Gateway of India!" Of- Preposition bahut mahatvapurna shabd hai aur Gate aur India ka shabd kram bhi mahatava purn hai aur gate kea aage way bhi lagana hai..." Raghav looks at Sammy, "This wasn't Saral, and rather was heavy loaded, please translate." Sammy explains to him, "It is India Gate, which is in Delhi, and what we will visit today is Gateway of India, and that way needs to be added to gate and sequencing two words gate and india is important..." He pauses as if completed, "and yes she also said, OF is very important preposition." Prem rolled his eyes, "Am I really needed?" While throughout the way Kalpana explained important aspects and historical facts about the place, which were translated by Prem or Sammy ... Mind it.. Only those translations which were heavy loaded...! Or else Raghav wasn't dumb enough to not understand.
Kalpana parked the car, all 3 of them got down and Prem as their guide Raghav and Sammy went ahead. Kalpana got down, tired after driving for almost 1 hour and plus the talks she had in the car. She went near bonnet of the car and stood there leaning it, seeing Prem explaining to Sammy and Raghav about the place and pointing in different directions while doing so, maybe indicating some landmarks to see around. Noticing Kalpana staring at them, Prem was flattered, and decided to leave Raghav and Sammy alone to explore the place after explanation and be with Kalpana. It's been long time since they had spend some time together, and at the same time, Prem smiled nervously thinking while walking towards her, "I don't know, at times I do get irritated by her, but she is special. I want to confess my thoughts and feelings to her, but something stops me. Maybe, I am sure, the financial difference between two of us will never get us blessings from parents, and I will never go against them, to marry her as well. I hope someday my dad too appreciates her and finds her suitable to be DIL of the our house. But what if that never happens? Well I might have to marry someone else of their choice. No I cannot break her heart after confessing and committing. I won't commit till I am sure I will be able to handle relationship. As of now, I am suppose to focus only on my career."
He reached Kalpana, stood next to her leaning on bonnet of car and smiled at her, she greeted him with equally pleasant smile, while giving him water bottle,
Kalpana: "Tired?"
Prem: "Kind of ..., but then now I am sure to feel fresh ..."
Kalpana laughs: "Really? I thought I have actually made you gaga over petty things today."
Prem chuckles: "Arrey No Yaar, But I still do not know or get the logic behing your childish act of fooling him."
Kalpana: "Cuz somewhere I honestly did feel bad, about his assumptions and thoughts about India and Indians, maybe I do live in small house or am typical desi, but just the fact that he had spoken out that bluntly about Indian accent and desi woman I didn't like it. But you know Prem, I ..." ... "I too was under some assumption about Western country, or say misconception, I thought maybe they are modern enough to be from any biases, but seeing Mr. Singhaniya, he proved me wrong. Even he seems to be having same view about Indian and woman like most Indians do! That is sad. Today, woman has also reached to level, where she becomes president, or successful CEO, owner of huge organizations... But still perception about them hasn't changed much..."
Prem hung his right hand on her right shoulder, half way around the neck, (Just the way two friends keep it.) to console her,
Prem: "You know Kalpana, you are special and so are your views, but every person in the world is different. You help me so much in my work, office work... as well, even without you degree yet, but still people will look at it ultimately in different way, as either show off, or some may feel you are helpful, or other's might just say you are wasting your energy, it's only you who can define yourself, woman are special and I respect them, soon being with you everyone will understand this or some may not and never... we do not know about our Boss, weather all this will affect them or not... and same goes about city and country, let our city and country speak about its speciality, rather than forcing anyone to go around and take tours." and Prem and Kalpana spoke around several things...
Sammy who was busy admiring several places, noticed Prem and Kalpana from his place.
Sammy: "Are Prem and Kalpana in relationship?"
Raghav, who was still busy looking around, looked at Sammy.
Raghav: "What? Hun?"
Sammy pointed towards Prem and Kalpana talking, and repeated his words, "It looks like it." Raghav rolled his eyes, "Why do you or I even care? Just look at the basic construction of the gate of this harbour," he said looking towards harbour of waterfront, "and also look at those boats and..." He noticed Sammy was still looking in the direction of Prem and Kalpana, Raghav crossed his arms across his chest and narrowed his eyes,
Raghav: "Don't tell me you are interested in that driver!"
His question brought him out of the session, Sammy laughed and nodded in no,
Sammy: "It's nothing like that, but ..."
Raghav: "It better be, desi woman driver could suit only clown like Prem, I mean, talking to him and seeing his presentations had always impressed me. He is very much dedicated, sincere, and hard working, but still, his personality, seems to tell me some different story, a typical simple Indian chocolate boy kinds you see."
Sammy looks at Raghav and lets out sigh, "Are you done with all sort of criticism, looking at the way he was speaking in car, I often want to question, does he actually make all those presentations and analysis all by himself, I mean, Kalpana seems to be smarter than him!:
Raghav: "No ways!!! She can't even talk in English!"
Sammy looks at Raghav: "And since when speaking in proper English is means of measuring person's smartness? Did you hear her knowledge about historical facts and significance about place we are seeing here! Right now if we are appreciating it is cuz of only Kalpana, as she is the one who explained it all to us, what Prem did was just work of translation of Kalpana's words. By no means is Kalpana dumb as you think."
Raghav: "And since when knowing about the city source of intelligence and smartness?"
He stopped, "Look Sammy, let's not waste time in talking about this pointless talking, and see what's there over there, and both decide to move around the place.
