Part-1
Amidst the busy street of Mumbai stood a tall building of 25 storeys. It wasn't just huge in size it was huge in work as well. The building for outsiders was a corporate world in itself. True it was. 4 subsidiary companies ran in the building's first 20 floors while the top 5 floors was working station for the parent company. The infrastructure was elite and suited the name embossed on the steel name plate at the entrance of the building area "SINGHANIA INDUSTRIES"
Every new grad and experienced individual aspire to work with it. The five top floors was the place where two individuals who were unknown to each other on personal levels worked. While one is head honcho and holds the reign of all the companies be it in Mumbai or the world, the other works at third grade.
Raghav Singhania a man whose every minute is dedicated to business. The business which had flourished a lot in past 5 years. He has a huge office in the 25th floor. A floor kept for only top class executives. Adjacent to his office is that of his little brother Samar Singhania and his father Girish Singhania. Kalpana was working under the main finance head. Though Raghav knew nothing about Kalpana personally but on professional terms he respected her a lot. He knew Kalpana is a hard working mature and level headed girl. Someone who has mixed up with every one yet no body knew about her peronal life. There is only one person Girish Singhania who knows about Kalpana. Her father had studied with him and till date they are good friends.
Kalpana has always kept her problems with herself and never allowed anyone to break the thick walls she has created around her. She knew about Raghav only to the extent that was known to all. He is a widower. His wife expired 5years ago and after her demise he has shut the doors of his heart for anyone to enter. From that fateful day Singhania family as well as Singhania Industries lost that Raghav who was an easy to work with person. Now even in business magazines he is termed as business machine.
After 2 years of Ayesha's death every family member and close friends as well as Ayesha's parents tried to convince Raghav to settle down again but he denied bluntly and that day everbody saw a new side of him. The agression his eyes had was something that stopped them to talk on this matter any more.
Both the souls were incomplete and they had somehow agreed with their ill fate.
The day usually started with workings that happens daily. The day was going smooth. It was lunch time and time for Kalpi to sneak out and have lunch with someone. She drove her car and parked it in front of a play school. The place where her daughter studies the basic of schooling.
By her lunch timing the school gets over. She picks her up and takes her to home where both mother daughter have their lunch together. School was 15 mins drive and her home from school is another 15 mins time. She had taken special permission from Senior Singhnia to have an extra half hour break and in compensation she used to work half hour extra.
Kalpana picked her up and was about to leave for home when her phone rung. She took out her phone. It was an emergency in office and she was urgently called. She cannot leave her daughter and hearing emergency she cannot give an excuse to not reach on time. She was stuck. Nobody in her office knew about Muskaan her 3 1/2 year old daughter. She was in dilemma. She cannot take her along nor can she leave her alone. She looked at her and met the most innocent eyes of the world. They shared same eye set. Big eyes. She looked at her and asked "What happened Mimi" Nothing baby" "Will you come to office with Mimi." She nodded excitingly. "But you have to promise me that you will be a nice girl" "okay" she said sweetly. She sighed and drove the car towards the office.
As soon as she reached office she managed to take Muskaan inside as the office area was empty due to lunch time and on top floor every body was waiting in conference room. She made her sit in her cabin and gave her chocolate. She was worried as well as sad coz her baby didn't have her lunch on time but she knew once the emergency is over she will call her mother and will ask her to take Muskaan home and take good care of her.
Kalpana went inside the conference room and everybody was there. But to her surprise Raghav Singhania was absent from meeting. He was engaged in other meeting and trusted his brother on this. The meeting on both the sides went smoothly. For Kalpana every minute was difficult to pass. She has left her on 24th floor all alone and that was the limt for her. As soon as the meeting got over she rushed out to reach her cabin. Every step was difficult and she was feeling uneasy.
Its not that Muskaan doesn't know how to stay without her but its applicable only for home. This office is a completely new place. She reached her floor and rushed towards her cabin. The lunch time was over and everybody was at work place. She opened her cabin in anticiption to hug her daughter but froze at her place when she didn't find her inside. She searched her entire cabin but she was no where to be seen.
She was fretting out and was cursing herself continously for leaving her daughter all alone. She was perspiring badly in the chilled room. Her blood pressure was soaring high. She knew her daughter is mischievious and cannot stop herself from wandering around new place but this is 25 storey building. Where would she find her and most imortantly how will she search her what will she say. Nobody knows about Muskaan.
She called her mother but her phone was coming busy. She called her father but his phone was also unreachable. She was feeling difficult to breath. "What if they had taken her??? No...no...this cannot happen...they cannot come here...they cannot take her...Muskaan where are you?" She fell down and started crying...her fears were taking shape of reality. Wiping her tears she with trembling hands called Girish Singhania. "Hello Kalpana...how are you doing. How is Muskaan." "Un...uncle" he heard her sobs and stood up from his chair. "What happened" She narrated her the entire incident. "Muskaann...my baby." "Don't worry beta...I am coming down...we will do something."
He immediately left for her cabin but in between was met by Raghav. "Dad...you seem to be in hurry...is everything alright." He asked in concern. For once Girish Singhania thought to share the problem with him but dismissed the idea and said "I'll take to you later son...I am in a hurry." He walked past him and took the staircase. Raghav at first was surprised by his father's actions but then he went ahead towards his cabin thinking there must be something which he doesn't need to share with anyone and he should respect it.
He reached his cabin and pulled out his coat and placed it nicely over his chair and started with his work. Soon he got engrossed in it when he heard sound of munching. His hand stopped in mid. He looked here and there but there but on not finding anything suspicious he resumed his work. Again the sound of munching caught his attention. He stood up and took a round of his cabin. He checked every corner, bathroom his wardrobe but there was no sign of anyone's presence. He sat down wondering what is wrong with him.
Again the sound of munching started irritating him. A liquid like thing felt on his shoes and he realised that someone is actually hiding under his table. He was filled with anger. The thought that someone dared to enter in his cabin and defied his rule boiled him up in anger. He slowly and carefully bent down to give an earful to that sneaker but the moment he bent down all his anger flew away with the sight of the most cute and innocent scene before him. A small girl of almost 3-4 years was comfortably sitting under his table and was enjoying her chocolate.
He crossed his legs and sat down comfortably...his soft gaze met with fearful big eyes. Eyes that had ininnocence and somewhere a spark...that a child of that age usually carries. One thing that amused him was she was still munching her remaining chocolate and at the same time feeding her dress as well.
With extreme polite tone so as to not scare the child he asked "Hi baby...what are you doing inside my cabin... Do you want something." A smile adorned his lips. She shook her head in no and said "Mimi has told me not talk with strangers." "Ooo thats right...ok then let me introduce myself...Hi I am Raghav." He extended his hand for a shake and she after looking at him for a few moments hesitantly gave her chocolate filled hand which he took gently. "What's your name baby" "Muskaan." "Muskaan...thats a good name."
"Kalpana" Girish entered and saw her sitting on the ground. "Kalpana beta" "Sir...my baby...my Muskaan...why did I leave her I shouldn't have left her alone." Kalpana was crying terribly. In between wiping her tears she said "Sir...Sir nobody knows about her...nobody knows about this apart from you that I have a child. Sir please do some thing." " Kalpana first of all stop crying... You know we cannot find her openly... What will we say to the employees that we are finding your daughter... They will ask thousand questions. The questions which you didn't want to answer and I agreed." She looked at him with pleading eyes. All she wanted was her daughter. "Look let's go to CCTV room. We can trace her from there."
"So Muskaan now that we know about each other please come out." He extended his hand which she now took immediately and came out. Raghav kept his free hand above her head to protect her from bumping with table. He took her in his arms stood up and sat on his chair and made her comfortably sit on his lap. In that process her chocolate fell from her hand. She frowned on seeing her chocolate on the ground. She looked at Raghav with tear filled eyes. "No problem dear I'll get you another one right away." "I m feeling hungry... Where is Mimi I want to go to her...where is she" and she started crying. Raghav hugged her tightly and hushed her but he now wanted her mother. It has been almost an hour and she has not seen her mother and that too at an unknown place. "Sweetie we will find your mother okay...first stop crying and give me a good kissie. " "Really you will get Mimi..." "Hmmm but then you have to do lunch with me. Promise" "Promise" she pinched her throat while promising him. "Okay then let's clean up first and then we will find your Mimi."
Girish and Kalpana were looking at the footages where Kalpana bought Muskaan in her office. They fast forwarded a lil and then found Muskaan leaving the 24th floor and moving upstairs. Kalpana immediately panicked and said "Sir is she going to terrace...sir terrace what if she... Sir let's go...please sir let's go." "Stop it Kalpana...stop panicking... Terrace is closed see I have both the keys." He picked out the kitchen having both original and duplicate keys of the terrace. She sighed in relief. They watched the video again and saw her entering in 25 the floor. Kalpana and Girish both were shocked. 25th floor's entire control is with Raghav and if Muskaan is in 25th floor then they have to inform him. "I m sorry Kalpana but we have to" she looked at him with fearful eyes. "Sir" "There is no option. Come with me... We have to talk to him before it gets too late." He went out from the room and she followed him.
With every step her heart was sinking and tension within was increasing. She her daughter away from all of them for a reason and she certainly didn't want any of them to know about it. But now in order to find her she will have to reveal her secret before anyone. She was first finding it hard to control her tears but she will have to.
Soon in a composed manner not to attract attention of any fellow colleague they entered in Raghav's cabin. Raghav had the keys of CCTV room installed in 25th floor and therefore it will he necessary for them to tell him the truth. She looked at Girish who signalled her that every thing will b fine. "Raghav" "I am in washroom Dad coming out in a minute." He responded from inside and they waited for him to come out. Kalpana was waiting for him. Every second the fear of loosing her daughter was increasing making it difficult for her to stand properly. "My daughter is hungry plus this place is completely unknown to her she must be scared and must have started crying. Soon sounds of laughter broke her trance. The voice was familiar. She looked up with a hope and was thoroughly surprised. Raghav came out from washroom with Muskaan after washing her face and she was enjoying with her Raghav Uncle.
Life is not bed of roses for any one. It takes tests. It shows you good as well a bad times. It never remains the same. Raghav lost his wife and his life changed completely while Kalpana is hiding her daughter from the company where she works and amidst all this is the little girl who has entered into Raghav's life from beneath the table and she is here to stay forever together with her mother.
