Two weeks later
*Ring ring*
Turning around Kalpana covered her ears with the pillow but that didn't stop the ringing voice of her door bell, just reduced it a bit. And if that sound wasn't enough to disturb her , her cell phone too started ringing. Annoyed by the sounds she got up throwing the pillow aside. She picked up her cell phone and saw Paakhi's name flashing on the screen.
With the sleep forcing her eyelids to droop she ignored the call and silenced her phone thinking she'll call Paakhi later. Not a moment after that the phone rang again, the same name flashing and the sound of door bell still annoying her. Finally Kalpana answered the call,"Hello". "Open the door di", Paakhi said from other side," I've to tell you something immediately", she urged and ended the call. Worried and confused about Paakhi's urgency Kalpana got up and stubbling bit due to sleep she went out to open the door.
As soon as she opened the door , Paakhi rushed inside almost screaming worriedly," Mom and dad are coming tomorrow!!!".
"Leaving their trip?? why??!!", Kalpana said sleepily not fully understanding the urgency Paakhi mentioned earlier. "You remember Aarohi, my cousin sister", Kalpana nodded and Paakhi continued," She's getting married and her family need a marriage planner and as they didn't get one mom wants YOU to be their planner. My aunt too agreed as she loved your work at my wedding".
On any other day this would've been one of the greatest news she'd get but this was the most inappropriate time for Kalpana to get a new client.
"But Paakhi you know I can't take up any new work now, why didn't you make up any excuse for me??", Kalpana asked. "Umm.. Actually", looking down nervously Paakhi continued," Remember that day when you came home for a meeting as Raghav bhaiyya was unwell.. I'd just woken up when Mom called and in my sleep I..", "You said what??", Kalpana asked. "Mom asked how's Kalpi, you met her etc and I said, di is fine she's here at my home and then she asked to hand you over the phone and I...said you were..with Raghav bhaiyya in meeting", Kalpana slapped her forehead hearing it," And then?".
"She started asking questions, Raghav, Samar's brother?? In meeting?? What meeting?? etc. So I just said that he wanted you to plan one of his friend's wedding. And then she told me about aarohi's wedding and to not mess up any more I just said that she should talk to you", Paakhi looked at
Kalpana who was now smiling and she knew that definitely she's got a solution.
"Though unknowingly you did clear the mess you created", Kalpana said," Anyway Raghav sir had asked me to join him for conference at US and I was thinking about not going as the whole event is one-month long and I thought I'd work at office than go there but now I'll say yes and we'll tell Gauri ma that Raghav sir's friend is having a destination wedding, so I'll be busy and preparations have already begun so I can't back out. She'll be convinced and problem solved".
"Cool", Paakhi said flashing a bright smile.

"Yes, one ticket", Raghav said over the phone. Just then he felt his other cell phone buzz in his pocket. "Kalpana", he thought confusingly seeing her name flash on his phone screen ," He..llo..". "Umm.. Good morning sir..", Kalpana said. "Good morning", he said still sounding confused because it was just 8 in the morning and knowing that she worked till 4 he expected her to be sleeping.
"Sir.. Sir..", he heard her say. Guessing that he's missed out something he asked," Sorry I was on another call", he lied and continued," What were you saying again?". "I was asking whether I can still accompany you to the conference?", she asked. "But you said..", "I know", she interrupted and said," but .. I can't explain why but please can I come with you?", "Ok", he said and "Thanks", Kalpana replied and ended the call.
How much ever rude and arrogant he was Kalpana respected him for the fact that he understood when to keep quiet and not enquire more. Especially after that day their relation that started on a sour note took a turn for good and now they worked like any other boss-employee pair. While she thought it was like this, he on the other side was just acting it all along the way.
With each passing day and second she spent with him she kept reminding him more of Rita. The Rita he knew before knowing the truth about her. And just so he can keep distance from her he kept their contact to minimal and never tried to know anything about her besides what was related to work and now he had to spend a whole month with her. "But still I agreed..", he thought..
Ending the call Kalpana came back. "What did he say??", Paakhi asked and Kalpana just nodded in affirmative. "Thank god...", Paakhi sighed. " Let's start your packing.."
