Raghav reached home and had his dinner. He took the medicines as prescribed by the Doc.His body language was much more relaxed and his appearance looked calm. While adjusting himself on bed he thought about the whole day.The answer he got from heart was it wasn't bad. The start seems good but I have to be more confident.
He called sammy to handle things on work front till Kalpana gets discharged and he will come to office only if its too urgent and cannot be avoided under any circumstances. He went for sleep with a smile on his face which even he didn't know why it wasn't leaving from the time Kalpana said she wants him to come before she wakes up in the morning. May be no body ever demanded any thing from him on personal front. He somehow liked the feeling.
Kalpana woke up, the headache has reduced to a considerable level. She felt much better than the previous day.She was surprised to see Raghav standing before her with again a smile on his face. Firstly she got confused on seeing him here but then she remembered that it was she who asked him to come here. She was happy that he fulfilled her demand, although it wasn't a direct one but yet it was. She smiled back and said in a very calm tone "Good Morning, Raghav hope you slept well last night"
Raghv felt light to see her smiling at him and moreover he felt happy coz somebody cared to asked him whether he slept well or not.
Raghav said to himself: This girl is truly different.
Raghav: Yea I had a good tight sleep last night since you are doing fine. Anyways you say how are you feeling now?
Kalpana: Am feeling better... now that I know my life's reality the pain has eased coz its temporary while the pain of loosing my identity is gonna stay... for how long that even I don't know.
The guilt that Raghav tried not to show her over powered his strength but Raghav soon gain control over it.He knew very well now the time is not right.She has the right to know the truth and she will only when her mind is ready to accept it without any effect on her health. Till then he has to hide his guilt.
Raghav: Kalpana don't worry very soon everything will be fine.And till then I'll take care of you. After all what are friends for!!!
Kalpana looked at him and tried to read his expressions. She knew though Doctors are telling him her best friend but at the end he is no less than a stranger to her. But all that she could find was a genuineness in his voice which speak through his eyes too. She nodded her head in affirmation to what he said.
Raghav: Kalpana you take rest meanwhile I just go and ask Doc about your health and when he is gonna give you discharge.
Kalpana: okay but come soon
Raghav said Yes and left for Dr.Jasraj's cabin.
Raghav: Doc how is Kalpana now? I mean when are you going to discharge her?
Dr: Mr Singhania may be tomorrow. If the test results are favourable then you can take her home tomorrow itself.
Raghav was ecstatic to hear this. Finally I won't have to visit hospital again. Visiting hospital always give me negative vibes.
Sammy reached office only to be met by Pooja who was looking very nervous. Infact other staff members also gave him weird looks.
Pooja: Sir, I want to talk to you. Actually I wanted to talk to Raghav Sir but then he didn't come office today so...
Sammy: Its okay Pooja come with me in Raghav's cabin. Even I want to have a word with you
Both left from there leaving confused staff behind.
Sammy: So Pooja what is it?
Pooja: Sir, I called Kalpana Saturday night to know whether she reached safely or not since she is new but she didn't take my call. But after a while when I tried again her phone was coming switched off. I thought may be she was tired and slept switching off her phone. In morning I tried calling her again but the phone was coming switched off at that time also. I went to her home but it was locked. When I asked the watchman he said that she didn't come there after leaving for party. Sir its Monday and again I checked but same status. Am really getting worried for her. Is she fine? She doesn't know anyone over here. What if she is in trouble?
Sammy could see the worry on face, tension in eyes. Her was voice was trembling. He knew Pooja very well and thought of sharing the accident news with her. He knew she is trustworthy and won't go around telling everyone who comes across.
Sammy: Pooja, look theres something I want to tell you but then you have to make it sure no body else knows about it...and YES its related to Kalpana.
Pooja looked at him with questioning eyes. Eyes that asked what is it that is related to Kalpana and is not to be shared with anyone!!
Sammy narrated the entire story to her. She was shocked and stood frozen at her place. Though Kalpana was just her new recent friend, a girl whom she knew for just almost one day yet there was some connection with her that they hit it off instantly. Kalpana's smiling face was coming before her eyes. She was about to loose her balance when Sammy saved her from falling.
Sammy after making her sit comfortably on the chair gave her a glass of water to drink and cool down her nerves. " Pooja she is fine. I know its shocking to hear this but then this a fact which you need to know since you are her friend. Please don't tell it to anyone. You know if any such kind of information will reach to media they won't think twice before making a news on it. Keep it to yourself only."
Pooja: I very well understand Sir. Don't worry nobody will get to know anything. It shall remain with me only.
( After taking few more sips of water she continued) Can I meet her? She looked at him pleadingly waiting for an affirmative reply.
Sammy: Pooja you know Kalpana is standing on a very sensitive point. If you meet her it might be she disagrees to move in with Raghav since anytime Kalpana will prefer you over Raghav as you are a girl and she will be more open to you. This will fail the very purpose of Raghav for which he wants to take Kalpana home. He wants to repent and I truly believe he deserves a chance as I have seen him breaking down listening to Kalpana's condition. Your presence might endanger his chance...you know what I mean.
( After looking at Pooja who had tears in her eyes for she genuinely wanted to meet her he continued giving her tissue paper) Look I assure you as soon as Kalpana shifts at Raghav's base I will myself take you there and introduce you to her but now its not the right time. Please try and undertsand.
Pooja: I understand you completely Sir. Don't worry I will meet her later. But its nice to hear that Raghav Sir is taking so much care of her. Is he fine?
Sammy with a warm smile: Yes he is...Don't worry I'll keep you updated about Kalpana's health. In this way you can stay connected to her even without meeting her.
Pooja with a pleasent smile: Thank you Sir for being there for her. And thank you for letting me know about her.
Sammy smiled at her and headed towards the door when suddenly he stopped and turned around
" Pooja why the staff is giving me such weird looks. Is everything alright here? Is there something that I need to know since in Raghav's absence I have taken the charge."
"Nothing Sir, never in these years Raghav Sir had taken leave so they all are surprised to see his cabin empty at this hour. Nothing much to worry about." Pooja said in an assuring tone.
Sammy shook his head in amusement after knowing the reason and left.
Pooja heaved a sigh of relief after knowing about Kalpana and went to her desk to continue her day.
At lunch time with special request Raghav was allowed to eat with Kalpana ( Afterall nobody has the guts to mess up with him apart from the woman who was sitting before him ) The hospital staff bought the plates and Raghav tried again to feed her but Kalpana looked at him blankly. Raghav tried to understand why she was not eating food from his hands but he failed to understand anything since he was taking care of someone for the first time.He thought may be she is not liking it but then she was talking to me normally until now then all of a sudden why this cold treatment. Raghav was trying hard to know when he found nurse signalling him to come outside.
Raghav: Kalpana I just need to wash my hands I forgot doing so. I will be back in a minute.
Kalpana nodded and he left from there.
Nurse: Mam I need to give your current hour status to Doc. I just come in a while. And she too left.
Raghav: Sister what is it that you want to say for which you signalled me to come outside!!
Nurse: Relax Sir!! I thought you are not able to read her expressions. Sir I guess she is suspecting on you and if she is doing so she is not wrong.
Raghav ( With shocking face) : She is what?
Nurse: Sir though Doc has said that you are her best friend but the fact is for her the whole world is new in fact she is new to herself too. You can't expect her to trust you over night which I know you are also not expecting out of her. Sir to consider you as her friend she needs time and you have to give her that TIME. Don't RUSH she may not feel good about it.
Raghav thought for a while about what the Nurse said. She was not wrong. Its he who is going all enthusiastic to make her believe that whatever Doc has said is true. He thought may be seeing his enthusiasm she might get convinced that he truly cares for her and now that she is on the road of recovery he is happy and wants to help her in each possible way.
He understood...he needs to go slow. This is going to be a long journey and patience is the key he thought to himself.He looked at Nurse and said Thank You Sister thank you so much you have been of great help.
Raghav went inside the room again but now with a little more clear vision with regards to his friendship with Kalpana. He knew now how to proceed.
Raghav: Sorry it took me a lil longer
Kalpana: Its okay
Raghav: Come lets have food coz am very hungry and the food doesn't seem to be that nice. You know how hospital food are. Even if you are not a patient it can give you the feeling of being one.
Raghav started eating his food.
Kalpana observed the change in his attitude. Few moments back he was interested in feeding me and now he has started eating without even waiting for me. She looked at Raghav who was busy in eating food and thought may be he sensed my discomfort or ...did he get to know that am feeling suspicious about him. Her facial expressions changed from confusion to fear. But Raghav was too busy in eating to note it and she quickly controlled herself.
Raghav: Kalpana why are you not eating the food.
Kalpana shook her head and said to herself may be I am thinking too much. He seems to be a descent guy and if he had any wrong intentions or if he wanted to harm me he had enough time to do so but he didn't. Brushing off all the thoughts she started eating.
Soon she was given medicines and Raghav knew she will now sleep only to wake up in evening so he thought of going to office and check if everything is going smooth or not.
After Kalpana slept Raghav left for office.
When you are completely blank its difficult to trust anyone. When your mind has ditched you the biggest tragedy is that you don't even know about yourself. Not just the world but you become a stranger for yourself. You feel hard to trust on your shadow forget about others. A constant battle goes on within your system. Kalpana has been told that Raghav is her best friend but she knows she cannot trust him completely. Seeing his care her heart says to believe in him but then his concern sometimes make her feel suspicious about him. She needs TIME.
Now, Raghav has somehow understood her mental state and knows that this isn't going to be easy. Its as much difficult as to gain trust of a person whose trust has been broken before. He knows he has to earn her trust and not win it. Earning her trust will take TIME and he is ready for it.
