Part -14
Kalpana was taken to another room for testing. The nurse told her that if the reports will be normal she will be given discharge by tomorrow. Kalpana was really happy to hear this but at the same time her eyes were constantly searching for Raghav coz she has not seen him since the time she woke up. Looking at her state the nurse smiled" Mam your friend is one busy man. He didn't go to his office these days to take care of you, may be he got stuck in some pending work. Don't worry he will come soon"
Kalpana nodded and soon she was taken for testing.
Meanwhile Raghav reached his office to know about the workings. He got surprised looks from his staff which he ignored for he knew he never came this late. "Kalpana has already started disturbing my routines. Don't know what else is going to change in my life coz now she will come to my home and I can foresee the challeneges I am going to meet. Hmmm...this isn't going to last for long. From the time she starts trusting on me and settles in home I can get back to my regular life if not completely may be partially but I'll get back." With this thought he entered into his cabin.
"Heyy Raghav dude how are you doing? I thought you are going to stay with Kalpana. What happened? Is everything okay? Is she fine?" Sammy asked Raghav on seeing him entering into the cabin. His voice had the seriousness and his eyes carried the fear for Kalpana.
Raghav replied "Don't worry Sammy she is fine!! Its just that few tests are going to be conducted on her and right now she is sleeping so I thought of coming here to keep a check and also I had work with Pooja too."
Pooja enetered the cabin " Sir you called me Is kalpana okay? "
Sammy laughed listening to the question but stopped seeing Raghav's angry glare matched up with Pooja's confused one.
"Alright a minute before you came I asked him the same question so I couldn't stop myself from laughing when you asked the same" Sammy said.
Pooja smiled a little while shaking her head.
"Pooja, look go to Kalpana's home take all the necessary belongings and furnish the guest room accordingly. Kalpana shouldn't feel out of place in my home. If she will see the room having her belongings apart from her wardrobe it will soothe her. I have given the order to HR dept to handover the duplicate keys of the residence to you so go and do the needful"
Pooja nodded and left with a smile. Feeling content on seeing Raghav Sir thinking so much about Kalpana's ease and comfort.
Sammy also felt happy on seeing Raghav taking so much pain for Kalpana inorder to make her feel comfortable. He was feeling proud of him coz the man who never thought of anyone or anything, this is surely not a small step.
After taking note of few things and having discussion about the upcoming meetings with Sammy he looked at his watch and realised he should leave for hospital.
"Sammy I am leaving. Kalpana must have woken up by now and by the time I'll reach she will be done with testing. If I don't reach in the mean time she will feel bad and I certainly don't want that. I'll call you once I reach home and you give me updates of the day. Chalo...am leaving bye" Raghav hugged Sammy and left again giving royal ignorance to the surprised looks of staff.
While Kalpana was being taken back to her room her eyes kept searching for Raghav in the corridor. Disappointed on not seeing him she looked towards nurse who was smiling at her assuring her that he will come.
"His efforts are showing colors. She has been waiting for him from the time she got up. Its good atleast she has started trusting him a bit or if not trust then the discomfort ness is decreasing between the two" Nurse said to herself.
When Kalpana was brought inside her room she was startled to see Raghav who was sitting on the couch and was waiting for her.
"Raghav!! You are late." Kalpana said with little anger quite evident on her tone.
"I know I am but I was stuck in some work so...and by the way even if I would have come on time you were to leave for tests and I knew that I won't be allowed there so technically you can say that the delay wasn't unintentional." Raghav replied with a warm smile.
Kalpana could feel the sincerity in his voice. She didn't argue further.
"Sister when will the reports arrive" Raghav asked.
"By night or tomorrow early morning" Nurse replied. Raghav shook his head on the piece of information given to him.
After adjusting Kalpana on bed Nurse left both of them giving them the much needed time to know each other.
"So how did it all go? Was it painful? What do you think will come in reports? After all nobody knows his/her body better than himself/herself. Right?" Raghav asked in a friendly manner
"I think I'll be given discharge tomorrow" Kalpana replied. Raghav remained silent after that. He didn't know how to carry it further. His prior attempts have not given him much needed results.
She continued after a while "Raghav tell me something about yourself. I mean today when you didn't come on time Sister told me that you are a busy man. What do you do?"
Raghav felt his efforts being acknowledged by her. She is herself initiating the conversation." I am a businessman by profession" Raghav replied.
Kalpana replied "Ra...ghav( in a rhyming tone ) Profession and business are two different things!! You are a business man or into profession? Kalpana chuckled while saying so.
If the circumstances would have been normal Raghav would have lost his cool but today he laughed with her. "Sorry I am a Businessman and thanks for correcting me" Raghav was really happy and he actually enjoyed the rhyming tone with which Kalpana took his name.
Dinner came for both of them. This time Raghav didn't ask to feed her. He thought she may dislike it and will again go into discomfort zone in which he has managed to sneak in with all his efforts. He asked Kalpana to start the dinner while he started to eat his own platter. Kalpana very sweetly asked " Won't you ask me your regular question?"
Raghav was surprised and replied "I thought you don't like it and whenever I ask you, you feel uncom...I mean you get upset. So I thought to leave it."
Kalpana looked at him and said " Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you...but its just that I can eat by myself or if at all I need help toh nurse is there and you know you always ask me this question so I felt a little awkward before starting my dinner and thought to ask you"
"So you asked me this question coz u have become use to it. Haan..." Raghav asked with inquisitiveness.
Kalpana nodded with a smile that was now reaching her eyes. Raghav shook his head and smiled at Kalpana's innocense. They had their dinner peacefully.
They continued to talk with few laughs in between. The wall of discomfort was now demolishing giving space to the rays of friendship to spread into their lives and brighten it.
Soon it was going to be 10 and so Raghav prepared to leave. He wished Kalpana Good Night and promised to come on time tomorrow. Just as he was about to leave " Raghav" Kalpana said. Raghav turned around and asked "Haan"
" Bring a pair of clothes tomorrow. I cannot leave in hospital gown" Kalpana said
"Okay" Raghav left after Kalpana said Good Night to him
After reaching home Raghav got freshen up and called Sammy to know about work. After getting updated and also knowing that nothing big as such is happening on work front which requires his attention he hung up the call. He was about to sleep when he remembered Kalpana has asked him to bring her a pair of clothes. He got up from bed and went to the guest room which was now going to be her room for the days to come.
He opened the wardrobe and stared at it for a while. He looked at the wardrobe as if he was asked to solve a jigsaw puzzle. What should he pick out for her? He thought to himself.
He stared at the wardrobe for few more minutes still confused what should he pick for her. "Saree...Na it would be difficult for her, what if it comes under her leg she will trip and will injure herself more...nonooo saree nahi aaa haan Salwaar kameez... nooo she has got injury on legs and hands it will hurt her, jeans nai yaar same thing will hurt her mmm he glanced at the wardrobe again to see if theres something loose that keeps the hands and legs free but she didn't have any. Arrrghh its so difficult to choose. Damn!!! never thought picking a dress for a girl will be more difficult than cracking deals. Now what!! ... Priya ahan she can help me Yes she has to help me after all she is my friend I mean not really but then she is Sammy's girlfriend so in a way she is my friend too. Yea!! she is my friend" Raghav had a victorious smile on his face after getting this idea since for the past half hour he has been drowned into Kalpana's wardrobe trying to figure out what she should wear.
"Raghav!! You are calling me at this hour Is everything okay I mean Is Kalpana Okay?" Priya inquired. Her question was genuine it was 1 a.m. and getting a call from Raghav at this time was highly unusual.
"Priya, Kalpana is fine. Don't worry" Raghav replied. Before he could continue further Priya asked "Is Sammy okay? haaan reply me dammit Is he fine? Something has happened to him? kya? Bolo Raghav!!!
Raghav yelled " Only if you allow me to speak will I be able to tell you why I have called you at this hour. Anyways Sammy is good, nothing wrong with him and I have not called for Sammy I need your help"
Priya relaxed herself on hearing this and said " Sorry you know you seldom call me and not at this time so I got bit worried. Acchha batao what sort of help you want?"
" Priya I have to pick out a dress for Kalpana but I am unable to choose anything from her wardrobe. What should I take for her so that she is comfortable in it. I mean I have thought about saree, suit, jeans but I feel she won't be comfy in any" He paused and waited for Priya to respond. When he didn't hear anything from her side he checked his phone it was still connected.
"Priya are you listening? Hello...hello...hellooo" Raghav screamed on phone.
Priya was shocked after hearing the words that slipped from Raghav's mouth, she checked her phone to see if its actually Raghav's phone or somebody pulled a prank on her. Its only after Raghav screamed on phone did she come out of the shock and then burst into laughter.
" Stop laughing!! I mean this isn't some kind of joke I really need your help."
" Okay okay sorry" and she started laughing again. " Are you Raghav Singhania or I am talking to some clone of yours. I mean firstly you called me at 1a.m. and that too for helping you to choose some dress for Kalpana. This is so not you. Raghav Singhania you are changing and mind it the change is good." and she started laughing again.
" Priya will you stop laughing or you want me to loose my cool. Just tell me are you going to help me out or shall I call Pooja"
"Okay Okay don't yell all the time. And please don't call Pooja. She is your employee poor girl will get scared if you call her this late. Don't worry I'll send one dress with Sammy and will come to your home in your absence and change Kalpana's wardrobe accordingly. Actually I have gone on shopping with Pooja when she told me the kind of dresses Kalpana has which won't look appropriate since she is gonna stay with you. I was going to call you tomorrow morning but you called me now."
"Thanks for the help" Raghav said.
" What are friends for Raghav" Priya replied.
Morning arrived bringing with itself happiness, nervousness and curiosity.
Raghav reached hospital on time infact before time so as to know what are the results. He went straight to Dr. Jasraj's cabin.
Raghav: Doc Good Morning. What are reports saying? Can I take Kalpana with me today? He was looking at Doctor with anxious eyes. He wanted an affirmative answer and thats what he got.
Dr: Mr. Singhania Kalpana is doing well. Her reports are normal and she ia fit to be taken home. I'll get the discharge papers ready meanwhile you go and meet her and tell her this news.
Raghav was super happy he thought his first phase of repentance got over. Kalpana's reports are fine and she is getting discharged. Its now time for second and most important phase.
Kalpana just woke up and when she opened her eyes Raghav was standing before her with a smile which was much more wider than she has seen before.
"Good Morning Raghav we are leaving for home right" She said with a grin
Raghav was surprised how did she know. He looked at Nurse who nodded her head in a No.
" Mornings and How come you know about it?"
" From your smile its much more wider than the usual one that I have seen in these days" Kalpana replied.
Raghav was amazed to see that she can read him and said "Get ready I'll go and get the discharge thing done and also have to know do's and don'ts for you so you get ready its time to say Good Bye to hospital."
Kalpana nodded and Raghav left the room.
While getting ready Kalpana in a very humble tone said to sister "I'll miss you, though you were silent and spoke rarely but you have given me a good company. Thank you and take care of yourself you are very nice"
After changing her clothes sister was changing her dressing. Now instead of covering the whole head she just covered the injury portion and her dressing looked like a band on forehead. She said to Kalpana "Welcome Mam, you have been one of the nicest patients I have ever come acrossed". She was very happy as nobody has said such sweet words for her before.
After adjusting Kalpana on wheel chair she took her out of the room.
"It feels so good coming out of hospital room as well as clothes" Kalpana said.
She reached where Raghav was standing with Dr Jasraj.
Raghav turned to see Kalapana and was shocked for a while to see her on wheel chair. He remebered the Kalpana who answered him back in elevator. What my Ego has done!!! He thought.
Kalpana was smiling at him warmly and her eyes showed the eagerness in her to go to home. He was satisfied that he has taken the right decision of taking care of Kalpana.
" Dr when will I get rid of this wheel chair?" Kalpana asked inquiringly.
" Very soon Kalpana. You are strong girl so you won't take much time." Dr answered her question.
After saying bye to everyone who took care of her Raghav took hold of Kalpana's wheel chair to take her home.
The journey has begun, the walls of discomfort has started falling but to say that they have become friends is too early. Raghav is thinking that once Kalpana settles in his home and starts trusting him the scenario will be back to what it was before accident. Raghav's assumption will come true or will Kalpana teach him ways of living life and will make him realise life is not all about gyming and carrying a schedule ridden life theres more to it.
