Part 5 - A Fleeting Glance
RECAP-
As Raghav was about to make an excuse to deny
his offer cum demand, Sammy 's voice coursed
through the speaker.
"Nahi Raghav tujhe chalna hi padega, mujhe
teri help chahiye aur waise bhi teri bhi shopping
ho jayegi"
(No Raghav you have to come, I need your help and
like this yours will be also done) said Sammy in hope
of making him come with him.
Raghav sighed agreeing to him.
"Theek hai...chal meet me in half an hour"
(Okay...now meet me in half an hour) said Raghav .
"Okay Raghav thank you soo much for agreeing"
said Sammy in over dramatic way making Raghav
shake his head at him.

Jhadav Mansion: Kalpana 's room
"Kalpi tune padha na letter mein...humare paas
sirf 4 days hai sare arrangements ke liye aur abhi
tak humne kuch bhi nai kia hai"
(Kalpi you read the letter na...we have only four
days for making all the arrangements and there's
so much to do...we haven't even started anything
yet) said Anjali
worriedly.
"Anji sab kuch ho jayega...don't worry"
(Anji everything will be sorted... don't worry) said
Kalpana assuring her.
"Kaise Kalpi...baki sari accessories ka ho jayega
kaise bhi...but kapde, uske liye toh hume shopping
jana hi hoga...toh kyun na hum aaj chale aur waise
bhi tera saara kaam bhi ho gaya hai yahan...chal
na"
(But how Kalpi...we'll manage the rest of the
accessories anyhow but for clothes, we have to go
for shopping...so why not we go today as your work
is also done...please come na) Anjali pleaded.
"But Anji aaj aur wo bhi abhi aise kaise...aur
ghar pe koi hai bhi nai"
(But Anji today and at this time never and
nobody's at home also) said Kalpana unsurely.
"Yeh toh aur bhi achi baat hai na koi hoga hi nai
tujhe rokne ke liye aur hum jaldi wapas aa jayenge
kisi ke aane se pehle...please chal na hum city mall
jayenge shopping ke liye"
(Now this is too good, there'll be no one to stop you
and we'll be back early before anyone else
comes...please come na we'll go to city mall for
shopping) said Anjali excitedly.
"uhh...okay" Kalpana agrees seeing her cute puppy
face hoping for the day to get over without any
more trouble.

Raghav's POV:
I am here in my car in my usual white shirt and jeans, waiting outside Sammy's house for some stupid shopping trip for about 5 minutes...Yes, 5 minutes coz I don't like waiting for anyone and wasting my time on useless things. Now instead of sitting into this confined space, I would have been doing some useful work in my home like researching etc. but this idiot...urgh!
This reminded me this idiot Sammy is taking too long
to come out of the house. I pressed the horn of
the car impatiently.
"Sorry sorry sorry Raghav for making you wait like this, who kya hai na maa ka call tha...maine aapko bataya than a mujhe apni bhanji ke liye ek gift lena hai bas ussi ke liye aaya tha"
(Sorry sorry sorry Raghav for making you wait like this, it's just my mom called...and I've told you I've to buy a gift my niece...for that only she called)
Sammy started his rant as soon as he enters as he knows I'm going to blast him off at any second. I started the car and pretend to be hearing his non-stop blabber about what he's going to buy whereas my mind is jumbled up with all the unwanted thoughts that doesn't want to leave me alone.
I sighed as it's going to be a long eventful day.

Kalpana's POV:
I made my way out of the house with Anjalitrailing behind me after making sure that I've completed all my household chores, otherwise I can imagine the scenario of what's going to happen with me which I don't even want to think about at this point of time.
"Kalpi ...tu kahan khoyi hui hai?"
(Kalpi...where are you lost?) asked Anjali shaking me from my thoughts and making me pass a side glance at her.
"Kuch nai...par tu yeh bata, tujhe mera acceptance letter kaise mila?"
(Nothing...but you tell me, how'd you got my acceptance letter?) I questioned her coz I was really curious to know how it happened coz whenever any letter addressed to me arrives; it was either snatched away from me or torn away after earning a boring glance from my family.
Anjali looked at me with a sheepish smile and answered "Umm...jab woh courier guy doorbell bajane wala tha na, tabhi maine aakar use yeh letter le lia tha and I'm thankful to god ki main sahi time pe pahuch gayi"
(Umm...when that courier guy was about to ring the doorbell, I immediately came and took that letter from him and I'm thankful to god that I reached there on the right time) she said with a sigh.
"And I'm thankful to you Anji, if you wouldn't have arrived on time, this letter would've also lead to the same fate as my previous letter" I said to her and honestly I can't even think if I would be able to cope up after my only hope of a better life being snatched away from me.
We hired an auto rickshaw and sat inside and told the address of city mall to the driver.
"Kalpi I'm really excited, hum kitne dino baad saath mein shopping ke liye ja rahe hai"
(Kalpi I'm really excited, after soo many days we are going for shopping together) said Anjali grinning widely.
"Even I am Anji, this feeling of fresh air washing over my face is really refreshing after a very long time" I said to her and true to my words we've reached chattering and enjoying the outside view all the way to the mall.

Raghav's POV:
We were at 5 minutes distance away from the mall all the while Sammy chattering on mindless topics and some monosyllables contributed by me in between the conversations.
It was still early morning and as the mall is near by a college campus, the crowd inside and outside of the mall mostly consists of youngsters group hanging out with their group friends and their respective partners. We arrived at the parking area of the mall to park our car. We got out of the car and proceed our way towards the mall.
On our way, I received many admiring glances from the opposite sex and same out of jealousy and envious glance from other males. It never made any difference to me as I'm used to it. These people only go for beauty which is depicting from outside and if it's the other way round then they are not even up for a second glance at them.
These female community is good for nothing always
doing what their mind told them and trying to mingle in others business particularly not caring about anybody. Infact I just hate the existence of them. My subconscious mind knows that this opinion of mine is mainly originated from my past but I'm too stubborn to admit that but I know in my subconscious part of brain I hope for someone who is able to love me and fix my broken soul.
As we stepped inside ...
"Raghav maine saare saman ki list bana rakhi hai, hum jaldi se shopping kar lete hai"
(Raghav I've made list of all the things that I've to buy...let's start shopping) said Sammy taking out his list.
I take a look at his list and god that's pretty long. I mentally roll my eyes at him and let out a sigh...urgh what I have landed myself into...!!
"Sammy...tu kya pure ghar ka saman kharidna chahta hai kya?"
(Sammy...you want to buy things for the whole house?) I asked glaring at him.
"Woh Raghav main sari shopping aaj nai karunga...joh important hai sirf wahi, baki main baad mein khud kar lunga."
(Raghav I will not do the whole shopping today only..will buy only important stuffs, rest I'll do later) Sammy said while adding the last part quickly sensing my irritation.
I sighed looking around the mall trying to locate the shop from which we can get our desired purchases.
As soon as I entered the shop I felt a weird but a pleasant feeling inside me making me stop in my track, I hurriedly shook of the feeling as it's strange in itself as I lost all the connection to the name also a long time ago.
We started looking for clothes which were displayed on left side of the shop. Soon we finished selecting various shirts, t-shirts and trousers and went towards cashier paying our respective bills.
When I was about to exit the door, suddenly a girl bumped into me from behind, I turned towards her and was about to shout at her for her carelessness but seeing her falling something snapped inside me and I held her from her waist to stop her from falling, a current pass through my body at the contact of our bodies. I cannot see her face properly except her big round shaped eyes as her face was covered by her dupatta. HER EYES, why
were they looking so familiar to him. They were full of innocence with golden hue surrounding at the corner. The amount of pain they were carrying in them was tearing my heart for some strange reasons which were unknown to me. I was confused and I can see the same confusion flowing in her eyes.
Suddenly the sound of someone arguing near us break our trance, the unknown yet familiar girl in my arms started to wriggle out of my hold, I let her straighten up and adjust her dupatta and just when I was about to see her face, she bent down picking her bags and hurriedly went past me out of the store mumbling a soft thank you wile I just keep standing there looking at her retreating
backing with only one question in my mind "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!!" .

Kalpana's POV:
We got out of the auto, paid the fare and moved towards the entrance of the mall. There were so many shops that it was confusing from where to buy and not. Finally after locating the desired shop we moved towards it.
"Anji, yahan kitne sundar-sundar kapde hai na"
(Anji, look so many beautiful dresses are here) I said to Anjali looking around the store.
We moved towards the right side of the store where dresses for women were available. Suddenly I felt a weird feeling inside me which spread a warm feeling inside me making my heartbeat race, I take a look around myself but found nothing strange, I shook off the feeling.
"Kalpi idhar aa, yeh red wala suit tujhpe kitna
acha lagega aur yeh yellow wala bhi"
(Kalpi come here, see this red suit will look so good on you and this yellow one also) Anjali said to me diverting my attention.
"Aur hum na thodi modern dresses bhi le lenge"
(and we'll buy some modern dresses also) she added after an afterthought.
"Haan Anji aur yeh blue wala top bhi tujhpe
kitna suit karega"
(Yeah Anji this blue colour top will also look nice on you) I walked towards her and soon got busy in selecting other dresses.
We took our bags and paid the bill. I was handling the bags in both hands and was looking down not really seeing where I was walking. Suddenly I bump into the person walking in front of me. I shut my eyes getting prepared for the fall which never came instead there were two strong arms around my waist making current pass through my body, that were protectively holding me up. I opened my eyes only to drown in familiar chocolate brown orbs which were staring at me intently but mostly
concerned. I can't stop myself from looking into his eyes which were showing mixed emotions but pain being stronger outsmarted all.
Seeing him in so much pain makes me feel worse from inside for some strange reasons unknown to me. Why was he looking so familiar to me yet so unknown arising an
urge to soothe him inside me? My eyes trailed all over his face from his eyes to his sharp nose to his chiseled jaw to his stubble cheeks and delectable lips only to get stuck on his eyes which was the most attractive feature of him.
Suddenly the sound of someone arguing nearby me broke my drooling session making my eyes go widen. I started to wriggle out of his arms feeling shocked by my behavior to a stranger. I hurriedly picked up my bags and adjust my dupatta and went past him out of the store mumbling a soft thank you to him which I doubt he heard, all the while thinking "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!!".
