Part 4 - A New Hope
Jhadav Mansion: Kalpana's room
Kalpana hurriedly got up from her bed and dashed towards her closet opening it with a force making few of her belongings topple down at her feet.
She reached for a medium size wooden box which was placed at the farthest corner of cupboard hidden behind the stack of clothes. She cautiously opened the box by lifting the lid, secretly hoping it to be opposite of what she's expecting only to get it discarded.
Kalpana gasped as she found the box empty.
"Anji...tune mera letter...kyun?"
(Anji...my letter...why?" asked Kalpana
helplessly.
"Toh aur nai toh kya karti...you were not going to post it anytime soon near the future, so maine socha ki yeh shubh kaam main hi kar deti hun"
(Then what should I've done... you were not going to
post it anytime soon near the future, so I thought I should only do this privilege) said Anjali.
"Par Anji, main aaj nai toh kal apna college
admission letter submit karwa deti"
(But Anji, if not today then tomorrow I would've surely submitted my college admission letter) said Kalpana.
"Jo ho gaya so ho gya Kalpi...the good news is
we've got admission in F.I.T.E college and here is
your acceptance letterrr..."
(What done is done Kalpi...the good news is we've got admission in F.I.T.E college and here is your acceptance letterrr...) said Anjali singing happily handing Kalpana her acceptance letter from F.I.T.E.
Kalpana's hands were shaking as she opened her letter; she closed her eyes and takes a deep breath to relax herself. But what she saw made her heart swelled with happiness, not only she'd been accepted in top most Mechanical Engineering College; she'd cleared her respective entrance exam with Rank II among all.
Her face glowed with utmost happiness and her eyes also
participated in the form of tears. She'd known her result from Anjali who herself came 4th which in itself was a big achievement as she'd never told anyone in the family about sitting for an entrance exam.
Kalpana has always wanted to pursue Mechanical Engineering and become a successful Mechanical Engineer. She'd always got fascinated by seeing Machines of all types whether small or large, be it in any shape at very small age. She got excited and curious whenever she'd got the opportunity to learn about the world of machines of what theylook from inside, how they work and type of different parts used in making it work smoothly.
We can say that Kalpana is equally fascinated by outer beauty as well as inner beauty of machines. Even in her childhood if anything got damaged or stopped working and needed to get repaired and then whenever the repair man come, Kalpana get really excited as she got to see how he works and play with different wires and bolts, thus making it as good as original.
"Kalpiii...we did it, I'm so happy yaar" Anjali screamed happily breaking Kalpana's trance.
"Yes Anji, finally main apni dream ki taraf ek step le paungi"
(Yes Anji, finally I will be able to take a step towards my dream) said Kalpana emotionally hugging Anjali tightly as tears of happiness still flowed from her eyes.
Anjali nodded smilingly hugging her back.
Suddenly she felt Kalpana's body getting stiffened and pulled back from her to see Kalpana's glum face with a frown marring her beautiful face.
"Par..."
(But...) Kalpana trailed worriedly.
"Kya hua Kalpi tu achanak se tensed kyun ho gayi?"
(What happen Kalpi, why are you so tensed suddenly?) asked Anjali cupping the side of her face.
"Woh Anji, admission toh maine le liya...par main
ghar mein sab ko kya kahungi aur kaise...mujhe
kuch samajh mein nai aa raha hai who bhi ek dum
short notice pe"
(Anji, admission toh I've taken...but what will tell everyone and how...I'm not understanding anything and that too on such a short notice) said Kalpana tensed.
"Kalpi relax, I'm sure tu sab kuch ache se kar legi
aur teri so-called family maan bhi jayegi aur woh
sab seedhe tarah se na mane toh tu apni unhe THE
KALPANA OBEROI wali side dikhana, phir
toh..."
(Kalpi relax, I'm sure you'll manage everything and your so-called will also agree and if they don't agree directly then show them your THE KALPANA OBEROI'S side, then toh...) said Anjali playing her tongue in inside of cheek smirking at her.
Kalpana 's eyes widened at her suggestion and
smiled at her back graciously accepting it.
For any outsider, Kalpana might seem like a pitiful, selfless soul who can't voice out her thoughts and simply bear all the tortures with lips zipped tight. Its not that she can't tell her family about her dreams and simply agreed to what they say, its just that she loves them, care for them and respects them so much to hurt them as they were the only who took her in their shelter when
she had no one in the world not caring how'll they treat her, so she does only one thing that is push back her dream, passion and ambition on the back seat while keeping their interest in front.
"Theek hai...I'll talk to them soon"
(Okay...I'll talk to them soon) Said Kalpana.

Singhania's Mansion:
As the clock chimed 8'o, Raghav opens the front door walking, fingers pressed to the pulse at his neck as he looks down at his wristwatch. He's dressed in a sweat-soaked T-shirt and jogging pants looking deviously handsome with few of his front hair sticking to his forehead due to sweat running down and his ragged breathing with a bottle in one of his hand.
"Arre Raghav baba aap aa gaye...jaiye aap jaldi se
tayar ho ke aa jayiye, main aapka nashta laga deta
hun"
(Raghav baba you came... you go freshen up till then I'll make your breakfast) said Kaka taking the bottle from him.
"Jee Kaka" Raghav nodded walking upstairs
towards his room.
As he walked into his room, he was much calmer
than before. Jogging always helps him in clearing
his thoughts and fully activating and refreshing his
rational side which helps in making decisions
according to the aroused situation.
He takes a towel and pair of trouser from his closet and goes into the bathroom for a nice relaxing shower. He immediately discarded his clothes one by one and stood under the shower by placing both his hands on each side of wall, head down with water running down his full toned shape body washing away the sweat from his body while
he thought about the step he'd taken to make the future more worth-living and fulfilling his every wishes and desire too.
Talking about his wishes and dream are nothing but being a successful Mechanical Engineer. From his childhood itself he was interested in machines and everything related to them. Whenever his father was not in home or he hardly noticed when he does, Raghav watched many programmes relating to machinery skills many of which intrigued him most and also confuse him and surprise him as how can they work with weirdest type of material add onto it making it attractive and innovative.
When his father left him leaving him all shattered, he'd done only one thing to distract himself from the agonizing pain which seems to be increasing at every passing second almost making him numb from the feeling and that is to pursue his dream. As he was very young at that time so he can't do much just accompany his Farheen Chacha to his garage who lived nearby and owned a garage which runs smoothly on a good basis. Little Raghav sits there all the time helping his Chacha and keenly taking interest in every little thing that was happening around him, i.e. fixing machines, repairing cars
etc. and asking questions based on them.
Soon Raghav walked out from the bathroom in his
trousers and drying his wet hair with one hand. He'd also given entrance exam for admission in F.I.T.E and achieved NO.1 RANK among all which only added to his charms.
He walked down the stairs heading towards the
dining table for his breakfast which was waiting for
him to be eaten up when he saw Kaka arriving with
few letters in his hands.
"Raghav baba yeh kuch letters aaye hai...jisme se
yeh aapke liye hai aur baki saare ghar ke
maintenance ke bill hai"
(Raghav baba some letters have come...out of which this is yours and rest are house maintenance bills) said Kaka handing the letter to Raghav.
As soon as he saw the letter he knew what would be
behind it recognizing from the cover as it is from
F.I.T.E. and opened it only to find what he
expected. He'd been accepted in College which will
help in pursuing his dream.
As he was about to put first morsel into his mouth,
his phone vibrated with his buddy's name flashing
on the screen.
"Hello Raghav " said the person on the other
side of the call.
"Haan bol Sammy, kya hua?"
(Yeah Sammy, what happened?) asked Raghav.
Yes, the person on the call is Sammy.
"Raghav tujhe F.I.T.E ka acceptance letter
toh mil hi gaya hoga...toh mujhe tujhse bahut zaruri
kaam hai"
(Raghav you have also got your F.I.T.E acceptance letter...so I have some urgent work with you) said Sammy with an comical urgency in his voice.
"Haan...abhi abhi I read that only...tu bol kya kaam
hai tujhe aur wo bhi itni subah-subah"
(Yeah...I read that...you say what work you have that too soo early) asked Raghav .
"Who kya hai na Raghav , tune letter toh
padh hi lia hoga aur usme yeh bhi padh bhi lia ki
humari joining date 1st september ki hai yani
exactly 4 din baad...so mujhe thoda samaan lena
hai..so tu mere saath chal raha hai city mall"
(The thing is Raghav, you would've read that letter and also that our joining date is 1st September i.e exactly four days later...so I want some things and you are coming with me to city mall) said Sammy with finality but with a hint of pleading in his voice.
As Raghav was about to make an excuse to deny
his offer cum demand, Sammy 's voice coursed
through the speaker.
"Nahi Raghav tujhe chalna hi padega, mujhe
teri help chahiye aur waise bhi teri bhi shopping
ho jayegi"
(No Raghav you have to come, I need your help and like this yours will be also done) said Sammy in hope of making him come with him.
Raghav sighed agreeing to him.
"Theek hai...chal meet me in half an hour"
(Okay...now meet me in half an hour) said Raghav .
"Okay Raghav thank you soo much for agreeing" said Sammy in over dramatic way making Raghav shake his head at him.

Jhadav Mansion: Kalpana 's room
"Kalpi tune padha na letter mein...humare paas
sirf 4 days hai sare arrangements ke liye aur abhi
tak humne kuch bhi nai kia hai"
(Kalpi you read the letter na...we have only four days for making all the arrangements and there's so much to do...we haven't even started anything yet) said Anjali
worriedly.
"Anji sab kuch ho jayega...don't worry"
(Anji everything will be sorted... don't worry) said Kalpana assuring her.
"Kaise Kalpi...baki sari accessories ka ho jayega
kaise bhi...but kapde, uske liye toh hume shopping
jana hi hoga...toh kyun na hum aaj chale aur waise
bhi tera saara kaam bhi ho gaya hai yahan...chal
na"
(But how Kalpi...we'll manage the rest of the accessories anyhow but for clothes, we have to go for shopping...so why not we go today as your work is also done...please come na) Anjali pleaded.
"But Anji aaj aur wo bhi abhi aise kaise...aur
ghar pe koi hai bhi nai"
(But Anji today and at this time never and nobody's at home also) said Kalpana unsurely.
"Yeh toh aur bhi achi baat hai na koi hoga hi nai
tujhe rokne ke liye aur hum jaldi wapas aa jayenge
kisi ke aane se pehle...please chal na hum city mall
jayenge shopping ke liye"
(Now this is too good, there'll be no one to stop you and we'll be back early before anyone else comes...please come na we'll go to city mall for shopping) said Anjali excitedly.
"uhh...okay" Kalpana agrees seeing her cute puppy
face hoping for the day to get over without any
more trouble.
