Part 39:

Kalpi was having a business lunch with some foreign delegates regarding the marketing of their new real estate development in Dubai. She was dressed in a knee length powder blue skirt team with a similar coloured jacket, teamed with a dark blue tank top. She had worn a necklace made of turquoise stones. The dress was very feminine but business like and her hair had been tied up in a high pony tail giving her an aura which was breath-taking.

She was totally involved in the business discussions and she did not notice the presence of Raghav on the other table.

Raghav was also there for a business lunch, but as soon as he spotted Kalpana he was totally entranced. Thankfully his discussions were over before he had spotted her.

He requested Sammy to escort his guest out and continued staring at Kalpana.

That she looked gorgeous was an understatement. There was a confidence in her which was more alluring. The way she had the whole table full of people entranced and totally focused on every word she was speaking was unbelievable. His Kalpi had grown up, he thought.

She was leaving and Raghav accosted her and asked her to wait. She said she would come back after leaving her guest.

Raghav was waiting and as soon as she approached the table he got up and made a move towards her. She moved away and just pushed a chair back and sat on it, keeping her hands hidden under the table, as she knew Raghav was always obsessed with holding her hands.

"Hello Raghav, how are you?" she asked. She was so surprised to realize that she was feeling so normal and she felt absolutely calm

"I am okay, you look stunning, Kalpi" he said.

"Thanks, Raghav. You wanted to speak to me", Kalpi asked.

"I have missed you Kalpi. I know what I did was wrong, but can't you forgive me", Raghav asked.

"I have already forgiven you. I do not have any ill feeling for you and wish you the best", Kalpi said.

"Can't we try to make our relationship work once again," Raghav asked.

"No Raghav, it can never happen. I do not have any feelings for you anymore. I don't love you and there is nothing left for us to work on," she replied matter of factly.

"Kalpi, you have changed. You were not so heartless before", Raghav said.

Kalpi laughed without humour and said, "I have not changed, I had changed when I was in a relationship with you. Do you remember me, when I was a child or when I first started working with you? I was a feisty, confident and strong person, even when I did not have anything. I did not allow anyone to disrespect me on put me down. Once I entered in a relationship with you, I became and weak, meek and an insecure person, who allowed everyone to walk over me. You, Pakhi, my mom, everyone disrespected me and I took it lying down. I needed to come out of this relationship to realize that the person I had become was so totally unlike me and I hated that person. If you think I am heartless now, this is exactly the person I always was."

Raghav, hearing this knew it to be the truth, but did not want to accept it.

"Kalpi, you say you have forgiven me, but you still seem bitter." Raghav said.

How many times do I need to forgive you, Raghav and for how many things do I need to forgive you?, Kalpi asked.

"You insulted me several times, because you had unwittingly fallen in love with me. You forced me to accept your love, even though I was not ready. You did not even bother to call me and tell me you were not coming to meet my parents on the day you were supposed to ask for my hand in marriage. Then you did not turn up on our wedding day. You even went to the extent of brining your newly wedded wife to our marriage mandap. Then you blackmailed me into coming to the temple and then dumped a fistload of sindoor on my head and said it was a marriage. The final nail in the coffin was your having a physical relationship with Pakhi.", she recounted every incident.

Raghav blushed as he remembered everything.

"I don't blame you, because our love was never strong enough because there was never any trust between us. You never trusted me enough to tell me about your mother and ask me to stop the wedding rather than embarrass my family in front of everyone."

"I was also very naive and stupid accepting all your actions. The only reason you treated me this way was because I allowed myself to be treated badly. The only reason you did not call on our wedding day was because I forgave you for not calling me on the day you were supposed to meet my parents", she continued.

It was as if a dam had broken and she wanted to wash off her past completely.

"Raghav, we are better off apart and I have realized that now and I am sure you will also have that realization soon", Kalpi said with finality.

Raghav was absolutely speechless as he did not expect such a talk from Kalpi. He realized that this Kalpi was someone who could not easily be swayed.

This was the spirited girl who had first attracted him in childhood and then in his youth, but she seemed so far away from him.

Kalpi got up from her seat and said, "I wish you all the best for your future and hope you find happiness. I have learnt a lot from our relationship, so I want to thank you for it. Bye, Raghav".

Raghav just said, "Bye, Kalpi." He knew he was totally helpless and would not be able to stop her. He just watched the stunning vision walk away and disappear from his eyes.

Part 40:

Kalpi walked to her car and drove off and suddenly felt as if she could fly. She felt a sense of closure which she had never felt previously. She realized that she had become indifferent to Raghav and she could wish for his happiness with her whole heart as he did not affect her anymore.

Her thoughts went to Vihaan and she realized that she had never appreciated Vihaan as much as he deserved. He had been a true friend who had supported her unconditionally. He had loved her but gave her space. When she asked him for time to decide, he had given it to her and still continued to be her support. Vihaan was one of the most important catalysts in making her this strong, independent, confident woman and she was eternally grateful for him.

The she realized it was not just gratitude she felt. She could not live without him and that it was the only reason she had contacted him again. She was jealous at the thought of him being with other women. She was crazily attracted to him physically and wanted to be in his arms and be kissed by him. She was in love with him, absolutely irrevocably in love with him. She wanted him Vihaan in her life permanently and she was going to confess about her love today.

Thinking about Vihaan brought a smile to her lips and it was the last thought she had before the car coming from the opposite side swerved and crashed into her car.

Some bystander brought her to the hospital, but she could not remember anything. The next time she opened her eyes she was in the hospital room and her mom and dad were sitting next to her bed sobbing.

She felt her whole body was in pain, but her mind was absolutely clear.

The face of her parents lit up when they saw her awake. The doctor came in and checked her and declared her condition to be improving.

Over a period she was told that she had some bleeding in her brain which had to be drained and the doctors were worried because she had not regained her consciousness for 2 days. But the doctors were really happy with her progress and they hoped to release her by the end of this week.

Her phone had been shattered in the accident. She really wanted to talk to Vihaan, because she knew he would be worried, but her parents would not allow her to use a cell phone, because doctors felt that she should not use cell phones for some time.

Vihaan sitting in US was really beyond worried. It had been two days since he had talked to her. He was trying her phone every 2 minutes and everytime he got a disconnected beep.

His mind was not on his work; he could neither eat nor sleep. He gut said that something was wrong and he did not know what to do.

His parents were in Europe vacationing and he did not know whom to call to find out. He finally decided to call her office and find out. He did not care what anyone thought anymore.

He called Kalpana's boss, Mr.Nair and felt unusually anxious, as if he knew he was going to hear something bad.

As soon as the Mr.Nair picked up the call, Vihaan said, "Where is Kalpana, I need to talk to her?"

Mr.Nair was shocked and surprised by the call, but answered, "Vihaan, Kalpana met with an accident 3 days back and she is in the hospital right now".

Vihaan went totally numb for a moment, not able to speak. The he asked anxiously, "How is she? Is she alright"?

"She was initially unconscious for 2 days, but she is recovering now", he replied.

Vihaan did not wait to hear more and disconnected the call.

He was at the airport within 2 hours flying back to India. He was so anxious and nervous during the flight. He was unable to bear the fear of something happening to her.

He could not lose her and he prayed to God requesting for her life and safety. The 18 hours from New York to Mumbai were the longest he had ever spent and every second felt like a lifetime.

Once the flight landed he just rushed out and once the immigration formalities were down he sped towards the exit, as he had not even bothered with luggage. He boarded the waiting car and asked the driver to take him to the hospital whose name he had already found out from Neha.

He hurried towards the reception and asked for her room. He was literally running on the corridor and when he reached her room, he barged in. Thankfully, Kalpana was alone in the room with only Neha for company.

Kalpi looked at him with shock and surprise, as he was the last person she was expecting. But a wide smile appeared on her face and suddenly all her pain vanished.

Neha understood the situation and wisely decided to leave them alone.

Vihaan with the worried look was scanning her to see if she was alright, but her smile gave him some comfort.

He went and sat on her bed and took her face in his hands and inspected it lovingly. Suddenly he lost his control and brought her face closer to his and rained kisses on her forehead and cheeks, thanking God for keeping her safe. Suddenly Kalpana moved her face and he felt the imprint of her lips on his and he felt stunned and could not react immediately. He felt her lips tenderly moving on his and he had a sudden realization that she was kissing him. Abruptly the kiss ended and both of them were looking into each other's eyes.

Kalpi slowly and shyly said, "I love you, Vihaan. I love you more than I have ever loved anyone before".

She lowered her eyes after saying that and he could not believe his ears.

He desperately wanted to hear her say it once more and he said, "Kalpana, please say it again so that my heart starts believing it to be true".

Kalpana looked up and smiled and said, "I love you,Vihaan and if you still love me, I want to spend the rest of my life showing you how much I love you."

Vihaan could not control himself anymore, "I love you, Kalpana and you have made the happiest person in the whole world. I had given up hope of this day ever coming, but it has come."

She looked at Vihaan's face and could see all the love in the world for her and she felt overwhelmed and she went into his arms and hugged him.

They stayed in each other's arms for a long time just enjoying the moment of pure love and understanding.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door and they both moved apart guiltily and Neha came in.

"I am sorry to disturb you, but your mom just called me. She is just reaching the hospital. Anyway looking at your expressions, I believe congratulations are in order", Neha said.

Kalpana blushed beautifully and Vihaan was grinning like a cat that had got the cream.

"Di, I am so happy", Kalpana said.

"I am happy for both of you and I know both of you will be very happy with each other", saying that Neha hugged her.

Vihaan did not want to leave her, but he knew it was best to go because it would be very difficult to keep his feelings hidden from her parents today.

"Vihaan, I think it would be better if you left", Kalpana said half-heartedly knowing it was the right thing to do.

"Okay, Kalpana, but remember that I love you. We need to talk, but I know you must be tired. I will see you soon." Vihaan said.

"I love you too," she mouthed and Vihaan left.

During Kalpi's days in the hospital, Vihaan always went to meet her whenever her parents were not there.

It was very difficult for them to be in each other's company and control their passions.

Vihaan who was trying to be sensible, because he knew that she had just recovering and any passionate encounters could hinder her recovery, but seeing her even in the hospital gown with no make-up made him want to kiss her senseless.

Kalpi on the other hand wanted his kisses so badly, was wondering if she no longer attracted him physically.

The sweet torment of love was being borne by both of them in equal measures and was driving them crazy.

Part 41:

Kalpi was getting discharged, but doctors had advised her to stay at home for a week. Both Vihaan and Kalpi were worried about staying apart for a week and both knew it was not a good idea to meet at her house.

The day after Kalpi was discharged was the day Vihaan was forced to go back to USA for some work related to the North American operations.

Being apart from each other was killing them and they were counting on the days when they could be together again.

Kalpana's first day back in office was the day Vihaan came back from USA.

His dad had given him some important work and he could not make it to Malhotra Constructions till 4.00 p.m.

Both Kalpi and Vihaan were in state of severe longing, just dying to see each other.

Suddenly Kalpi's phone rang and Mr.Nair her boss told her that she was asked by Mr.Vihaan Malhotra to come to his cabin to discuss some follow-up to the earlier project she had done with him.

Kalpi could not help smile at Vihaan's smartness, making everything look so official and professional. She was carrying two with her to make it look believable.

She entered the Management floor and reached Mr.Malhotra's cabin. She saw that he had lowered the blinds and she grinned.

Her heart was beating wildly when she knocked on his door and entered.

As soon as she entered the room, Vihaan crossed over to where she was standing. He closed the door. She mischievously smiled and held over the files teasingly. He took the files from her hand and dropped it onto a side table and then pulled her towards him. She felt his mouth against hers and in a moment of overpowering, uncontrollable desire, she returned the kiss with equal passion. His tongue, probing hers, was shockingly erotic and she closed her eyes and savoured the moment. Vihaan could not believe a kiss could be so sweet and sensual at the same time, and he could not get enough of it and he continued plundering her mouth.

Without letting her go, he pulled her towards the couch at one end of the cabin, sat down and pulled her onto his lap. Kalpi who was already dazed and stunned allowed herself to be led like an automaton. Once she was firmly settled on his lap, he leant over slowly and cupped the nape of her neck with his hands he captured her lips once more. She felt her whole body burst into flames as his mouth met hers in a long, lingering, searching kiss. They were leaning towards each other and unconsciously she placed her hand on his chest and tilted her head, as his mouth continued to explore her mouth. All practical, sensible and realistic thoughts escaped her head and it was just filled with an uncontrollable need to belong to Vihaan.

Vihaan slowly came to a realization that things were getting out of control and her untutored kisses turned him on more than any of the other girls who had years of experience could do. Her innocence and lack of sophistication along with her growing passion was driving him insane and he knew if he did not stop things would get out of hand.

He took his lips away from hers and looked into her eyes, which was darkened with passion. He could not resist giving her one more kiss on her lips.

Kalpi who had lost any sense or reason totally swept off by passion and when she felt his lips move away from hers, all she wanted to do was pull him back to her and ask him to kiss her senseless again.

"Kalpana, we need to stop", Vihaan said.

Kalpana suddenly felt insecure and all doubts about her inexperience came rushing back into her head. "Why Vihaan, did I do something wrong", she asked.

Vihaan groaned at her innocent question, "Darling you did everything right. Don't you realize what you do to me, you drive me insane. But if we continue, this I may not be able to stop and I know you are not ready for more".

Kalpana suddenly felt shy as she realized the implication of what Vihaan just said and she got up from his lap and tried to move away. Vihaan held her hand and pulled her back on the couch.

"Vihaan I thought you wanted me to come here to work on a project", Kalpi said to change the subject.

"Yes, I want us to work on the biggest project of my life, our life together Kalpana. I don't think there is anything more important than that", Vihaan answered.

Kalpi smiled, suddenly she remembered something and laughed and said, "Our life has come a full circle. Do you remember the first time we saw each other. It was this same place, but there was another girl where I am sitting now".

Vihaan suddenly felt angry and said, "I remember everything, but don't you ever dare to compare yourself to that girl or any other girl. She did not mean anything to me while you are my life. There have been girls in my life before but you are different. I can honestly say, I have never loved anyone before you.I have lived a life of a playboy before, but I promise you that once I fell in love with you, there has never been any girl in my life."

He took her hands in his and said, "Believe me, darling, I love you with all my heart and will never cheat on you."

Kalpana just smiled and put her hand on top of his and said, "I love you and I trust you dear. You have proved your love for me a thousand times and I will never doubt your love for me, but at the same time believe me when I say that I have also never loved anyone as much as I love you, not even Raghav".

"Sweetheart, you have confessed that you love me, but can you let me know when you first realized that you loved me"

"I accepted in my mind that I loved you only on the day of my accident, but my heart had fallen in love with you long back. The day you announced that you were going to US for the meetings before our launch was the first time I knew that I cared for you more than I was ready to accept. I missed you so much."

Vihaan was enjoying hearing this so much said, "You made me wait so long".

"I did not know myself, how could I tell you. You know I was so jealous of Riya, I wanted to claw her eyes out, but I tried to make myself feel happy for you."

"Riya did not mean a dot to me. And don't get me started on jealousy. Jealousy and I have been good friends with since I met you. I was jealous of Rahul, Raghav, Sammy and Nick and every guy who came into your orbit. At the party, it was lucky that I did not get into a fist-fight with one of the guys. Your love has introduced me to many new emotions like jealousy and insecurity, my love."

"Darling, you never have to be jealous or insecure, because I love you more than my life itself."

"Hey, I know that now, but I did not know it then".

"I am so glad that I called you up in US requesting us to continue our relationship, otherwise we would not be together now."

"You must be crazy to think that, I was already at my wits end because of our separation. I could not have stood being apart from you much longer and would definitely have contacted you if you had not done so."

"Really, you would have; you say. Okay, now you have to tell me, when did you first fallin love with me." Kalpi asked wanting to know more.

"I have always been in love with you I think. From the 1^st time I saw I knew you meant something to me."

"You are kidding me, the first time we met we fought".

"Darling do you know that the first time we met I took your HR and project files home and learnt everything about you. The next time we met you fell into my arms and I knew that I was a goner if I did not keep away from you. The first day of our team meeting, I knew you were going to be very important in my life. But I acknowledged that I loved you the day you came to my house. That was the day I decided that I would bring you into my life. But darling, you did not make anything easy for me. You really made me suffer, didn't you."

"I did not mean to, but my past experience made me wary".

"I know darling and I am not blaming you. I am just so ecstatic that you are finally a part of my life." Vihaan said and kissed her again.

"Darling, I want you to come and meet my parents, this weekend", Vihaan said.

Hearing this, Kalpi suddenly felt nervous. She asked hesitantly, "Meet your parents, Vihaan, would they accept me. Will they think that I am good match for you? I am really scared".

"Sweetheart, why are you so worried? My parents love you. My mom already thinks of you as her daughter-in-law and I am sure my dad also knows that I love you. My parents really admire you and they are waiting to welcome you to our house." Vihaan comforted her.

Kalpana felt better and happily agreed to meet his parents.

I may not be as regular in this forum anymore but I will stop by sometimes and say hi to our EMA family. 🤗
