Part 2

The next day Kalpana woke up to a smell of home baked cookies. She smiled. Ai knew so well that she loved chocolate chip cookies. She got out of bed quickly and got dressed as usual. As she walked into the dining room Kalpana asked her mother, "How am I looking, Ai?" Kamla took a look at her beautiful daughter and gulped. The colors Kalpana had chosen didn't really match. She pushed aside the thought thinking that her daughter is still pretty. Kamla replied, "No matter what my daughter wears she will always look good." "Thanks Ai" Kalpana said sitting down.

Pakhya came in a few minutes later to find Kalpana eating the cookies made for her by Kamla. "They're delicious" Kalpana told her mother who was beaming at the compliment. "What-did you make anything special for me?" Pakhya asked his mother. "Your favorite Gulab Jamun" Kamla responded with a huge smile. "Sach?" Pakhya asked with wide eyes. Kamla nodded and placed the dish in front of him. After breakfast was finished, Pakhya got Kalpana settled in a cab as usual and bid her bye.

As soon as Kalpana got out of the cab, her assistant Sana came running to greet her. "Hi mam" Sana said kindly. "Hello Sana" Kalpana said while smiling slightly. Taking her hand Sana said, "Let's go in mam."

As soon as Kalpana and Sana were settled in their cabin, Sana became talking about the project files. Not five minutes had passed when her best friend Tani entered their cabin. "Kalpi let's go, we have to go to my house to prepare for the party" Tani said. "But my work.." "Sana will handle it, right?" Tani asked her. Sana nodded. "Ji, Kalpana Mam, you go on." "Okay" Kalpana said.

By evening the girls had finished all their preparations for the party and were quite satisfied with the outcome. Now, they only had to get dressed.

The girls convinced Kalpana to wear a pretty pink gown. Kalpana was a little hesitant but the girls insisted that she looked beautiful. "Aw come on Kalpi, you look beautiful, hai na Tanu?" Maya said stubbornly. Kalpana trusted them and agreed to wear the dress.

Tani noticed Paakhi glaring at her. "What?" Tani asked. "Tani, why didn't you wear a formal dress for the party? You're the host for goodness sake!" Tani was wearing a casual t-shirt and jeans. "Let her do whatever, Paakhi" Maya said. Tani never wore dresses and she wasn't about to give in to Paakhi's pleads now. "Let it be!" Tani told the girls angrily while adjusting her sports hat. "At least get rid of the hat" Paakhi insisted. "No ways" Tani said shaking her head. Kalpana spoke up. "Girls leave Tanu alone. Let her wear what she wants." "Okay fine" Paakhi said giving up.

A few minutes later the guests started arriving. "Keep an eye on all those guys" Tani reminded Paakhi and Maya. "They're thieves!" Maya rolled her eyes but they agreed nonetheless.

"Welcome welcome" Paakhi told the guests sweetly as they entered the mansion. Tani was leaning against a wall and keeping an eye on the guys herself. She immediately saw Mr. Mehta picking up her home phone. She rushed over quickly and asked, "What are you doing?" "My cell phone ran out of battery so I figured to use the land line" Mr. Mehta replied. "Oh! Okay then" Tani said nodding her head.

As Tani heard a hush go through the crowd, she turned around to look. Raghav and Sammy it seemed, had just arrived for the party. She wasn't liking this. Raghav was getting so much attention in her party. No ways was this happening. "Guys back to partying" Tani announced angrily.

She went up to him. "Hey Mr. Singhaniya" she said shaking his hand. Raghav smirked while he looked Tani top to bottom. "Sam, we are at a party right?" he said turning to Sammy. "And not some picnic?" he added sarcastically. "Of course this is a party" Tani said angrily. "Now if you would excuse me."

Maya was walking around the party when she clashed into Prem. An employee of Raghav's who worked just like Sammy. "Watch it!" Maya said angrily. "Ladki dekhi nahi aur nikal pade, hmph!" "Oh you" Prem said, "You mind your language, ok? Is this any way to treat your guests?" "Ugh!" Maya shook her head at him and strode off.

Prem was taking a look around when he caught sight of Kalpana standing alone in the corner of the house. Such a beautiful lady like her should be enjoying herself in the party! He went to Raghav and Sammy to inform them about his new discovery. "She must be shy" Sammy said observing Kalpana from afar. "Then I know exactly what to do" Prem said eagerly. Raghav chuckled as he saw Prem mixing some alcohol into the orange juice. Prem high-fived Raghav and went off to give it to Kalpi."Miss..for you juice" Prem told Kalpana sweetly. "No thank you" Kalpana said kindly looking in some other direction. "Hey please take some na.." Prem begged. "Okay fine" Kalpana said holding out her hand. Prem placed the glass of juice on her palm and watched as she slowly drank it slowly at first but then really fast. She held out the glass to him. "Me want more" Kalpana said. "now now now!" "Yeah!" Prem replied eagerly. Soon Kalpana had drank five glasses of "orange juice". When Prem went for a sixth Sam stopped him. "I think that's enough Prem" Sammy hissed. "Just this last one" Prem said. "Fine" Sammy said hesitantly. Maya was watching as Prem kept handing Kalpana orange juice and she told this to Tani and Paakhi.

Meanwhile, Raghav watched as Kalpana started walking around like crazy. He, Sammy, and Prem followed her up to terrace. The girls who had noticed Kalpana going upstairs followed her as well.

Kalpana went out and kept going on and on. Soon she was at the edge and dangerously close to falling down. Tani immediately pulled Kalpana down. "Kalpi!" she screamed. "What do you think you were doing?" Tani asked Kalpi tearfully while hugging Kalpi to herself.

Maya rushed over and rested her hand on Kalpana's shoulder. "We told you tell one of us if you had to go anywhere!" Maya yelled angrily. "What if something had happened to you?" Paakhi added worriedly. The boys were confused. Kalpana was no baby that they were treating her like one. Paakhi meanwhile noticed a glass of orange juice in her hand. Grabbing it she sniffed it. "Alcohol" she told Maya and Tani. Tani turned towards Prem with a deadly look. Prem gulped. Tani was looking extremely dangerous.

"What the hell-why'd you mix alcohol in her juice!" Tani yelled at him. Tani threw the glass to the floor which shattered into pieces. She took hold of Prem's collar. "How'd you dare, haan?" "You idiot!" Maya added.

Raghav spoke up, unable take this treatment any longer. "Just stop this nonsense ok..you are girls so we have said nothing but now you have went beyond the limit. Especially you Tani, holding Prem's collar and all. Kalpana's no baby. Yes Prem did mix alcohol into her juice but just so she would have more fun. She was drunk not blind ok..Kalpana could very well see what she was about to do." Tani pushed Prem aside and went up to Raghav. She had had enough. She was furious. "Don't you dare speak against our friend. My friend. Mr. Singhaniya" Tani whispered loud enough for all to hear. "You know nothing about Kalpana and you start making rude remarks." "What don't we know huh?" Raghav said. "Stop talking in riddles ok..?" Tani just shook her head sadly. "Our friend" she said tearfully. "Already can't see anything. And you know what happens when you give her alcohol on top of that?"

There was a sudden silence just then. The guys looked towards Kalpana at once. Raghav started towards Kalpana and Tani moved back. He tiptoed up to Kalpana and paused in front of her. He put up his hand in front of her face to see her reaction. Nothing.

Kalpana hadn't even noticed him. Raghav took his finger and moved it before Kalpi's face but her eyes never moved.

The guys were ashamed by now while the girls were really sad. Raghav clenched his fist. This girl-Kalpi-she was..blind??
