Hi guys, I'm back. After reading thru the wonderful and insightful comments from my post "Much Needed separation" , I thought of jotting down my thoughts on the crux of the matter- expectations.
It is an inevitable human behavior to expect sumthing in our life..Who does not try to foresee the end result of an action however trivial it may seem. With this preconceived notion , when we fail to get a similar outcome we get disappointed and that is precisely what happened here.They say true love is unconditional without any expectation.But be practical in these present times love without expectations?? I don't think so...Don't get me wrong, I am not questioning the intensity and depth of love between Raghav and Kalpi here..I am just putting forward the fact that in their brief love encounters, both characters built a big castle of expectations without a strong foundation which came tumbling down when the storm hit...Their expectations were not something out of this world but natural ones...But expectations r expectations however small or big' when they break u get disappointed.

Raghav expected himself to be in control and on a mission to take revenge on the Kapoors. He felt disappointed in himself when he started losing control of his mind and heart to Kalpana and his plans didn't fall into place(well that was bcos he was hallucinating a lot!!)...But anyway he started accepting it and then went on mission kalpana. For a person who was accustomed to getting things his way he was disappointed by Kalpana's initial reactions towards him.But as days went by his desires along with his expectations started rising. When he got Kalpana by his side, he expected her to love him unconditionally. In return, he wanted to shower her with love and all the gifts he could get his hands on..He poured his heart out to her and thought whatever happens (and to add irrespective of his actions) she would be his rock and support system..His first blow came when she entrusted the future of her love story to her aai.When he started recovering from that, he was faced with another dilemma- fulfill expectations of a son or a lover. Question was not to choose which but what held more importance at the moment and hence his words " I wanted 2 close the previous chapters b4 embarking on a new journey"..He knew he has hurt his love badly but irrespective of that really wanted Kalpi to be his support during his troubled moments and that is why he wanted 2 clarify his actions..He was deeply hurt and disappointed when Kalpi instead gave him a good thrashing and scorned him..He must have thought but wasn't she the one who said 2 give importance 2 family..
Kalpana had a whole bucketload of expectations on her shoulders all throught out her life to become someone big and show people especially her aai and those rich Kapoor jackasses that she was worth something. For this she worked really hard too. She had already planned out everything. She was bitterly disappointed with her results. But accepted her destiny and planned yet another path, then an unexpected twist in the form of love happens. When Raghav came along and gave her importance, she was scared and hesistant but mainly becos she was scared of future disappointments..But she convince d herself and thought ok here is guy who will guide me on my journey 2 become a memsaab and who wud luv me unconditionally!! She expected him to be her mentor and support system. She expected him to not only love her but her family too equally. In return, she would shower him with all the love and beautify his life..Things didn't go all well smoothly cos raghav had his share of baggage.. When he started changing she expected the change to be permanent. .She wanted to c him in vitthal's shoes cos all along she had held her aai baba's relation in high esteem. Her first major blow came when he failed to turn up at her house 2 talk 2 her parents. After that incident, she felt everythin will be ok and her expectations from life and Raghav increased becos in a way she felt more accountable to her parents..The major blow came when she was left at the altar and all her expectations came crashing down..She felt humiliated on seeing her parents devastasted faces!! On top of it, her love who had agreed to stand by her had forsaken her and her family's love for revenge..this simply reinforced the fact that she knew all along that the poor's emotions r not valued!! She felt bitterly disappointed that he didn't think about her family reputation b4 carrying out his deeds and that too opted 4 marriage with pakhi. In front of the world, it would seem that the rich guy preferred sum1 of his own status.If he had taken up another course of action instead of marriage with pakhi I don't think she would have been disappointed to this extent.
Their expectations of each other are too high considering they r coming from 2 strata of life and different circumstances. Raghav needs to understand that if he wants Kalpi he would have to accept not only her but her whole family whole heartedly and thus have 2 b prepared 4 any commitments that would entail..Kalpi needs to understand that his wounds run deep and healing takes a long time; and considering the fact he was a loner all along with anger bottled up, his actions may not conform to her expectations always..
On a lighter note, the cvs need to understand that we fans want only RAGNA and not RAKHI!! So pls don't disappoint us!!😛😛
