Chapter 12

He was so ecstatic to see her text and without wasting a single second he ran towards his car. The roads were deserted as usual at this time. He flew his car like the wind on that open, sparkling road in the bright moonlight. His speedometer touched 100 but he did not slow down. I am coming Kalpi' he shouted.

He received a call at the very moment and lost control of his car and the tire screeched as soon as he heard the other person on the phone. It spun round in circles, went off the road in tangent and hit a tree on the side of the road with resounding CRASSHHH!! Raghav slumped unconscious on the steering wheel. His forehead was bleeding, his right arm crushed to the side of the car in impact with the tree. Darkness descended in front of his eyes. He was imagining Kalpi before he passed out.

Far away Kalpi was waiting for him to arrive. She had to confront him tonight. Suddenly her heart started palpitating with fear thinking about Raghav.

Raghav's car wreck was reported to the concerned authorities by a passing vehicle. The ambulance arrived within half an hour and he was taken to the hospital and admitted in Emergency. His head had suffered a major blow and was bleeding profusely. They found his ID in his wallet and contacted his family. Gauri was woken up to the news of the shocking accident. She contacted Sammy and they rushed to the hospital at once.

Raghav was being operated while Gauri and Sammy were praying for his health. The hospital authorities handed over Raghav's belongings to them. Sammy noticed the buzzing phone and saw 30 missed calls from Kalpana's number. He understood the telepathic connection between the lovers. Till now he had read about this in books but today he was seeing it right in front of his eyes.

She was worried as Raghav neither reached the place where they were supposed to meet nor was picking up her call. Finally she received his call and she picked it up hurriedly. It was Sammy on the other side. She started questioning him about Raghav. He slowly revealed to her about Raghav's accident. She cried out in utter shock and fell in a dead faint. A few moments later she got up frantic in worry and rushed to the hospital.

She kept weeping while driving the car and in her heart knew Raghav's wounds were deep. She was not there with him when he needed her the most. She knew he was deeply affected by his father's murder and his mother's disappearance. She never once tried to understand him and to confront him. He loves me and I wanted to take revenge on him. He has already suffered a lot and I wanted to punish him more. She wept inconsolably and prayed for his safety.

Raghav had been extremely lucky. The spinning motion of the car had slowed down its speed so it stuck the tree at slower speed. Furthermore, since he was wearing his seat belt so his life had been saved. He just had a broken arm and needed stitches to his forehead. Pakhi and the Jadhav family also joined Gauri, Sammy and Kalpi in the hospital.

Vitthal observed his daughter's obvious show of weakness for Raghav. He realised that Kalpi still loves Raghav but could not understand why in the evening she readily agreed for marrying the groom he selected for her.

By next morning, Raghav had recovered consciousness and was talking well and responding well to the treatment. Except for Kalpi everybody else was present in his room talking to him. Gauri then asked Kalpi to come inside and join them.

Congratulations Kalpi. I heard you are getting married. Sorry mom forced you to come inside. I am fine you can leave now' he said angrily.

Kamla realised that she should not have informed Raghav about Kalpana fixed alliance. She only wanted to inform Gauri and since it was late in the night when groom's family agreed to meet, she had no other option than to call Raghav and ask him to inform Gauri. She saw a teary Kalpi leave the hospital room and followed her.

He did not want to stay in the hospital and was adamant on leaving. Doctors and others tried to reason with him but failed. He was in a foul mood and nobody had the guts to chain this enraged Lion.
