In a show , each one of us starts liking a character. They become our favorite. Granted CV's, that you also have your favorite character, But then you should have given her/him a better role initially.
I don't think it is wise to change the whole story-line just to show her/him in a good light now. In this process you are ruining the whole show and also the characters of other people in the show.
Intention is not to hurt anyone. These are only my thoughts.
