I have thinking about what is EMA about. I have read through all the posts.
Ek Mutthus aasman is the height that someone wants to reach the sky and claim a portion of it for their achievement.
It is not about rich or poor. It is not about poor people showing to rich people that they reach where they are.
It is not just about Kamla or Kalpi. I think it is Ek mutthi aasman for 3 central characters Kamla, Kalpi and Raghav.
Throughout the story has weaved around these 3 character since the childhood. It is about all 3 reaching their Ek Mutthi aasman. No one can reach their sky without someone's help.
We all know that in our lives and careers, there is always someone who either guides us, helps us or promotes us.
1) Kamla - It started with Kamla who wants her daughter to be more than just being an uneducated bai's child. Her ek mutthi aasman is that her child will be highly educated and gain success to whatever degree she can. But not work in other peoples home as a bai . However that does not mean that her daughter will not have to work for someone else or take someone's guidance.
That is why Kamla goes to raghav to help her daughter get her Ek Mutthi aasman. And raghav is a character who does that without any questions.
2) Kalpi - Her ek mutthi aasman is to achieve the dreams of her mother and be educated andsuccessful. But that does not mean that love is not part of her ek mutthi aasman. With her education and effort she is already beyond the class of her mother. She will continue to achieve more as she is strong and if she gets social standing through love as well then there is nothing wrong in that.
We all expect that we will marry or love at higher level when we move upwards. If we are educated our parents themselves look for spouses who match our ability or be better than that.
3) Raghav - He is a central character because every wrong that has happened in the show has happened to him. He was born rich so he should not have suffered. But he did. His father was murdered and he lost his mother. He is not aware but his mother has been tortured and attempted to be killed. All this drove him to be rich and successful. But that does not mean he has his ek mutthi aasman. He is a lonely man with no one share his happiness or sorrow. His ek mutthi aasman is to have love and a family and he still has not gotten it.
CVs have created these 3 central characters with a lot of effort. The relationship between the 3 is what has created the story. They have shown a beautiful progression of love between Ragna and that of trust between raghav and Kamla. It takes a lot of pain to show such things. They will not want to Jeopardize this.
