But see that's what I am asking right here. Why does it have such a bad image? The treatment has improved a lot. Now it's given provided that the patient remains safe and doesn't get hurt like shown. Here I can see that it was for the sake of showing how inhumane Sahil and Neetu could be. But is it band in India because people abuse it? Or is it band because the resources available in India doesn't let this treatment be as painless as it could be just yet? Are they still working to better it, despite the band or have they completely stopped this whole treatment? I am just very curious because Electric shock therapy itself is actually very effective in the treatment for severe depression when all else fail. Many patients have known to be very grateful for that. Doctors still don't know what it is but there are rarely any severe side effects (if done properly) except amnesia of the period of the depression. Why is it band when it could be so effective?

I think they were showing electrocution rather than electric shock therapy lol!!

Thats a joke btw

at least somebody mentioned that ...

..yes i agree with u even i was surprised

but then bollywood and tv soaps take lot of liberties in name of bureaucracy and red tapism where u just give some money and get it done.

though hospitals do get caught and sued sometimes but thanks to snail paced legal system in india , till the decision comes person os already dead and in heaven

india is a country where a dead patient is kept on ventilator a dead treated for weeks ...why after a week.!!!...well they feel they still have a chance to earn lot of money from the family of the dead !!!

It's for improvement.. when i say.. bann, I mean,.. It's for using it without people's consent.. read the bold words.. from my previous comment..!!
It has improved, but.. As I said.. people already have typical sterotype for going to psychologist.. and other is way media portrays it.. So.. Topic of giving electric shocks is still under research area in India.. Unfortunately.. Indian system doesn't encourage people to go and have study and do something like research, so there are very few researcher who are working in this field.. in fact, I myself am interested into this field of cognitive, but.. for me... Question still arises, where to study this or which institute prove education based on cognitive sciences.. and I am telling u.. not more 4-5 colleges in india offer study into this field.. I know of 2.. IIT Gandhinagar has study in this field of Cog. Sci, and second is Allahabad..!!
People .. here are more focused on understanding Behaviour and Behavioural Analysis... rather then technical part of using ECG and actually studying brain waves..

Shona come here and we both will study and develop this field in India..😛😛😛

Not really,, as we know, electric shock is not preferable, It can be more dangerous and how it work donot understand ,, it all the last option when there is not hope for person to get ever normal I think,,
electric shock never prefer by any doctor,, Doctors always try to make patient good by medicines and physical activities,, only

Oh sejal I guess I missed that part of your comment. Alright, so here's my understanding - it's still used by the consent but the treatment itself is up for improvement and is being researched on. However, because not many people are interested in this field, the improvement seems to go at a slow pace. That makes sense now. Coming to the episode itself, so the doctor or whoever administered the treatment can be sued for malpractice then? Because the patient was clearly yelling that she didn't want the treatment. Aside of all these technicalities, I would love to research on this! I am so down for that!! I myself want to go later on in research after I am done with my education. So I wouldn't mind though I am more interested in how the mind distorts memory over time but I still am really interested in this part of study too. God, if only time could stop and I could study everything 😆

Let me finish my education and then I will come knocking 😆

I have no clue about these treatments as to what extent it can be use on a patient. I personally know a family member who is suffering from mental disability with severe mental attacks, but no where I heard that he has ever gotten such treatments regardless of how bad his attacks gets. It's painful to the eyes and I feel extremely sad for the ones who have to receive it out of helplessness or intentionally causing harm to someone. It's just too painful to handle. I personally think that many people gets worse instead of recovering.

Yaar Shana I agree with you. Tv soaps and media really abuses their rights and portray certain things so negatively just to favor their stories. And the corrupt in reality get all the benefits while just throwing money away. Honestly, India or no india, it's like that everywhere. Yes, US has a little bit faster pace when it comes to cases like these but there are millions of people who don't get justice because they don't have enough money to bribe. Corruption unfortunately is something that lies in every part of the world - some parts are better at hiding it than others. We honestly should make a joint effort to end the abuse of rights of needy and under-privileged people! And people need to become more aware of their rights so they can defend themselves in scenarios like these.

I am really glad you made a post on this!

All I can say is not to take Hindi, why only Hindi any Indian movie & serial on face value as they are doomed in dealing medico-legal issues. I don't remember any movie or serial that portrayed the psychological issues in a realistic and sensible fashion. This can be due to CV's lack of knowledge on the issue or just to create drama under the pretext of creative liberty! The reality is undoubtedly much better than shown in the movies and serials though there are issues of corruption and red tapism to deal with

Ironically there is a lot of social stigma & prejudices attached to psychological problems and consulting a doctor for depression is the farthest solution one would consider. Here people think million times to seek normal marital counselling; psychological counselling, seeking help of clinical psychiatrist is viewed as deprecating!

I thought I was watching a scene in a movie from the 1990s. What was that? I understand what they were trying to show but at least they should know how updated and advanced the medical field has become. It would be hard to believe this equipment and tactics would still exist in big hospitals. And okay since it isn't reality but at least know the audience has matured and advanced. I think I am seeing electric shock scene like this after many years of watching Indian soaps. Even if the creatives have no knowledge of the advances in the medical field it was still very outdated and poor creativity.
