LOL guys its Ashuuu's birthday so how can I not write an update and give you all a lovely gift?
Part 31:The next two days were busy for Kalpi as she was busy with presentations and meeting new associates. And she was also reporting everything. She used to be drained out by the end of the conference. Plus she also tried studying other builder's marketing strategy and kept making changes to her already perfect presentations.
The first day of the conference she had to present on Singhaniya Constructions' history and their work to date. How they have managed to expand and their future scope of expansion etc.
People were in awe of Kalpi and many came and congratulated her for her impeccable presentation skills that were not boring instead very very interesting as she had tried to make it interactive by including some games on miniature modelling and some rapid fire sessions. Everyone loved her innovative ideas.
Some builders were talking among each other, conferences are normally so boring but this young girl has made it so much fun, that I was looking forward for more.
Kalpi was surprised when more and more executives wanted to talk to her wanted to know about her. She had surely won many young admirers in the crowd. Many praised her talent some her intellect and some her beauty. She took in the compliments quite well but it did not get into her head as when the day was called for wrap, she hurriedly finished her lunch rushed to her room and sat completing her report on the basis of the notes she had taken down.
The next day they had to present on what were their achievements and how have different constructions helped the economy and were involved in eco friendly projects and have take part in charity or social development etc.
Kalpi was the best person to handle this again. She just used to take notes from Sammy and Raghav and again used to get busy on her lappy preparing her presentation. Raghav's respect for her grew more and more and he felt proud of her! Seeing her on the dias presenting he felt that he need not worry about anything as long as she was with him. He saw her dedication, her commitment towards work, her zest and her desire to prove herself in this world!
He felt guilty to be distracting her from her goal to achieve success! He resolved from now on he shall be formal to her and not behave like a horny love smitten teenager around her. He needs to maintain the distance. He had promised Kamla maa he will guide her be a mentor to her. He wondered why a girl with such high intellect and capabilities would fail at her university exams. How can her supplements get misplaced?
Sammy praised Kalpi too and so did Maya. After the second presentation was over Kalpi was a known name. People came and talked to her as if they have known her for ages. Raghav was surprised to see this Kalpi. He thought she was reserved and quiet but here he could see her all charged and pepped up cracking jokes with these strangers and impressing people. She had a power of conviction and had a way with words and could convince any one.
The organisers were happy at the success of the conference and they announced that the third day would be the last and they will award the builders under different categories to motivate them and give them recognition. The awards will be judged by the panel in the morning and the ceremony with the dinner will be in the evening which run till late night! They informed they had organised a DJ for the late night event and people could enjoy dancing and music, the food and drinks were on the house!
Hearing this Kalpi's face drooped like a flower. She did look tired due to lack of sleep and tension but Raghav knew it was something else bothering her and he asked Maya to find it out!
Maya approached Kalpi and she told her that she did not have time to shop in Mumbai for a party wear and she does not know where in delhi can she shop. Maya looked serious...This is a serious problem Kalpi, you dont what you have done. Now you wont be able to attend the awards nite. Too bad after all the effort you put in...Kalpi looked at her with a dejected face. Maya laughed out loud! Crazy girl you could have just asked me naa.
Come now the work is done. We have plenty of time till tomorrow evening lets get busy! Kalpi was excited as she had never had a shopping buddy till date. It was always her Aai who bought clothes for her and she used to wear them. In fact she has never done real time shopping so got excited.
Maya looked at Raghav and assured him with her eyes that things are in her control. Raghav heaved a sigh of relief and smiled. He was glad he could be of help to Kalpi!
Prem was proud of Kalpi too. The more he saw Kalpana present and her work impressed him. He felt very happy for her. He felt more and more guilty that it was his mother's fault that Kalpana was with that Raghav. If she had passed she would have never taken that Raghav's favour! Poor Kalpana now she is bearing him and his taunts. Look at her she is working so hard! Akash and Prem had given quite impressive presentation too. People encouraged Akash and welcomed him and they were glad that he could bring in the Western techniques and style in his projects.
Prem walked to Kalpana and asked her if she would be attending the party next nite. Kalpana was excited and said yes. Now I am going to shop. By the way what do you think would be good to wear for such occasions, I mean western or Saree should be okay?
Prem smiled happy that she is taking suggestions from him. You'll good in anything Kalpana but I feel Saree suits you as if its been made for you. Kalpana blushed and said Prem! You are not bad huh! Go flirt with some other woman and leave me!!! Prem laughed at her innocence and her simplicity which made her all the more endearing. She was a true friend! Yes she was a friend first. He was not sure where would their fate take them in future. She may want to be with Raghav but I will always be an important person to her. This he was sure of. He knew Kalpana could go to extents to maintain her friendship as she did not have many friends and neither did he.
Rest of the day Kalpana did was check out of the hotel and went with Maya with her luggage to her guest house. It was a huge guest house and Kalpi was amused to know that Maya had lived all these days alone here. Maya Ma'am dont you get scared to live all alone here?
Maya laughed well you can say I am used to it now. She had called the beauticians at her home and one of her rooms turned into their spa. Kalpi was new to all this. She objected but Maya said my dear you worked so hard so take it as a treat! Let your hair down, chill and enjoy!
Kalpi got everything done and she felt really nice. The beauticians were shocked to know Kalpi had never visited a parlour in her life other than to cut her hair!
They praised her complexion and her hair and her skin too.
Maya said see now dont spoil her beauty with your products only used natural products on her. They agreed.
Kalpi was all fresh like a new flower and refreshed too. She was now ready to shop and have dome fun. Maya took her to different shops from Meena bazaar to hi-fi designer wear boutiques. Finally she was so confused that it looked as if she would just burst into tears. Maya Ma'am I am so confused I just dont know what to buy but I dont want to spend too much too!
Maya then suggested that she could too wear a saree like her with a halter neck blouse and stilletos. Then she got confused as to what colour to choose. Maya again helped her with a black shimmering saree.
Kalpi finally bought it and a clutch and a nice pair of stilletos with it.She thought she had already overspent on her clothes and shoes. When Maya reminded her of the accessories to buy. Kalpi said its ok Ma'am I can manage. Maya understood that Kalpi did not want to spend more. She offered to lend her accessories for the evening later she could return them. Fine?
Kalpi tried to protest but Maya insisted and said Kalpi would not say no if she considered her as a friend! Kalpi agreed hesitantly. Somewhere she felt she could not connect to this glam world of the riches. She missed her simple one room chawl and the food that her Aai made and fun they had in the chawl all together.
They came home all exhausted and Kalpi asked Maya what should I cook when Maya looked at her and said why on earth would you cook? My maid has already cooked the food and left. Lets just eat it and get our beauty sleep. We will wake up late tomorrow! Kalpi agreed. They both had their dinner but kept talking about various things. Kalpi asked Maya how was Raghav in his college days? Maya brought a smile to her face and she kept on talking about how he was famous as a rude and a loner. He always used to be away from people but he was not cruel. She shared the incident when once some guys tried to misbehave with her in the college as she had complained about them to the Dean. They passed racist remarks on her and she was in tears when Raghav had come to her rescue. From then onwards we were friends. Only Sammy and I could tolerate his nakhras as in our batch we were the only Indians.
Kalpi noticed the interest with which Maya spoke about Raghav reminiscing those days. She asked bluntly on Maya's face. You loved him right? Maya was shocked and looked at Kalpi and turned her face which had turned red with embarassment. What rubbish! nonsense! No way I could love that stoneheart!
Kalpi: You still love him right?
MAya: I think I am tired and will sleep.
Kalpi: And you think that will solve the matter? Why did you never tell him?
Maya: Angrily...You think I didn't? He rejected me Kalpi, said he had other motives in his life. And he would not want me to waste my life with him. As of now I have moved on but it hurts whenever I think of past I feel I could have done something to change him or his heart that could never feel for me. Tears flowed from the corner of her eyes. Anyways I know now he has changed and he loves you.
Kalpi: widened her eyes as she did not think Maya would notice it.
MAya: You think no one would notice? Its so obvious Kalpi his eyes follow you everywhere you go! I have seen that yearing, admiration and love in his eyes for you. If you too have ever felt for him then do tell him. He has suffered a lot Kalpi has been loveless throughout his life.
Kalpi: smilingly... Really? With two amazing friends by his side how could he be loveless. I know he loves me but I am bound by my vows and my dreams. I do not wish to commit anything! I dont want people to call me a creeper who loved him and married him for his money. I want to create a niche for myself. If he can wait for me then I will look forward to be with him.
Maya hugged Kalpi and Kalpi asked Maya to promise her that there might be some nice guys waiting for her too! Maya laughed and said I am too old now all the nice guys have been taken.
Kalpi laughed Sammy's still left! They both laugh and keep talking and did not realise when they slept on the same bed.
