*** PART 6***

Virat was standing outside Manvi's apartment. He couldn't digest the fact that Manvi could think about him this way. He didn't know where she was all these days, but, she did. She could have found him, talked to him. But no, instead, she chose to self-immolate herself. All these days, he thought that something must have happened to her, someone might have done something to her. But, what he learned is a something else altogether. She had left him and he didn't even know that she did.

Swetha was sitting in Manvi's house, in the living room and was throwing him angry stares. He walked upto her and asked "What's your problem? What do you have against me?"

She stood up with her hands crossed. "I don't buy a single word of what you said out there."

Virat gave her a dirty look. "You don't have to." He said.

"Listen, I don't have anything against you, I mean I do, but I don't care about you. I want you to know that Manvi is not like before anymore. Even, if she chooses to come with you because of your threats, she will go in a downward spiral. She has become so weak and passive. Even if she is not comfortable with something, I mean if you do or say something that is bothering her, she will not be able to share it with you. I am her only friend. She will not be able to do all this on her own. She will collapse." Swetha tried explaining him her point of view.

"She doesn't have to do anything on her own, I will be there with her. And will you please stop calling her weak? Tum weak ho, tum passive ho, tum akele kar nahi paogi, yehi bol bol kar tum ne usko aaise banaya hai. Uska dimaag phir gaya kya." Virat retorted angrily.

Swetha: "You are blaming me? Damn! I did nothing but to encourage her and motivate her to come out of all this."

Virat: "Right. If all your motivation made her like this, please do not motivate anyone ever again. Woh koi abla nari nahi hai, tum ne banaya hai use aaise. So cut this 'you destroyed her' crap. The fact is that whatever has happened had destroyed both of us."

"Ohh shutup..." Swetha and Virat started arguing fiercely.

Virat suddenly stopped, he couldn't hear a word Swetha was shouting in his ears. Time like stopped still looking at the picture in front of him. Manvi entered looking at Virat. Nikki was holding her right hand and Ria was holding her left. His family. She walked towards Virat and stopped in front of him. "Give me a few more minutes." She said and moved along into the kid's room and made the kids sit inside.

She took a deep breath and wiped her eyes.

A part of her wanted to believe him but her mind kept ordering her not to. Whatever outburst they had a few minutes ago, one thing really pricked Manvi. It pricked her to see him so hurt and pained that he couldn't be a part of his children's lives. She felt very guilty for that and wanted to correct that part if not anything else. Even though she didn't fully believe his and Karan's take on the events that happened that night, she felt bad for Virat. She didn't expect him to care this much. She had become so wrapped up in her misery that she didn't realize that she was separating her kids from their father and his family.

"Mama, look what I made" Ria flourished a drawing proudly.

"Wow, that's looks so amazing bunny." Manvi kissed her and made her sit in her lap. She took a deep breath, she had to be strong with this. She shouldn't let her kids see any doubts or uncertainties in her. Kids are very sensitive to these emotions, even when not spelled out as such.

"Nikki, can you come to mommy for a sec, I need to talk to you both about something very important." Manvi called Nikki, who was engrossed in assembling all the bricks, singularly, on top of one other, in attempts to make a really long tower.

"I am busy mom" he replied. Sometimes this kid freaks me out, he speaks exactly like his dad, Manvi thought.

"Can you spare me two minutes? I have a surprise for you." She tried to catch his attention, saying the last part in a sing-song manner.

He turned to her and looked at her excited. "Are we going to the zoo?" he asked excitedly, coming and sitting beside Ria, on her other lap.

"Not exactly, this is way more special."

"I want you to meet someone very special." Manvi started talking as if she was telling them a story, the kids looked at her attentively.

"Nikki, do you remember you asked me last month why you didn't have a papa like Aaliya?"

"Yaaa?"

"Yeah? well, your papa is here now, he has come to meet you. He loves you very very much. Do you want to meet him?" she asked. Nikki nodded slowly and cautiously.

"Where is he?" Ria asked her with wide eyes.

"He is going to come inside in a minute, will you guys be nice to him?" They both nodded up and down, with a little bit of anticipation.

With a small smile, Manvi kissed them both and went to talk with Virat.

Virat: "So?"

"I am sorry Virat." she finally said.

"Yeah, that does a lot of good for me. What for, by the way?"

"I was going to tell you that day when I walked in on you...cheating me.."

"Not again Manvi." he said exasperated.

"Let me finish Virat.."

"Fine. Finish."

"That day I saw you with another woman. There is no way I would makeup something like this, especially about my own husband. It was definitely not Karan. I don't know how to prove it. I came back on that day to surprise you with the news. I had only known it for a few days then and I was waiting for the right moment to tell you.

After the whole episode, I wasn't myself. It was hurtful and painful, and in all this misery, I relied heavily on my kids, they became the reason for my living. I would have given up a long time ago if it was not for them.

But, I am sorry for not thinking about you. I am sorry for not informing you, not making them a part of your life. You had as much right on them as I did. I didn't do it purposefully, I just held on tightly to the only thing valuable in my life then."

"Having said that I am sorry, I would like to make it up to you. That's the only reason why I am willing to go with you to New York, to your place, with our kids. We have to make some kind of arrangement for us both to be an integral part of their lives. I don't know how its going to work out, but I am willing to try.

Let me make one thing clear, I am only going as a mother to my kids, not as your wife. I still believe what I saw that day..and I cannot forgive you for that."

"MANVI!" Virat yelled angrily.

"LET ME FINISH..." she yelled back.

"So much for being passive" Virat scoffed looking at Swetha who was listening to the whole conversation.

"Don't you even think for a minute that I am going because I am scared of your threats. Nobody can take my kids away from me, not even you. I will fight till my last breath to protect them and to be with them. So, no I don't care that you could 'crush' me with all your power and wealth. If you think, I will just hand them over to you, you heavily under-estimate me and the power of a mother's love.

I need a few days to sort things here. Ria is not in perfect health, we need to work out the medical arrangements. We can talk about it. And more over, it's not advisable to move the kids away suddenly, we need to give them some warning, mentally prepare them, atleast a few days ahead of time. Lastly, when it comes to deciding things for them, I will consult you for everything, but until you are fully familiar, I hold more weightage in making all major decisions for them.

I am done. You can talk now."

"What's wrong with Ria?" Virat couldn't hear anything past that.

Manvi: "There is a problem with her heart." She is fine, she just needs continuous monitoring. Dr. Rahul, whom you man-handled yesterday is her doctor."

Virat: "Oh? I would like to meet him then.

Let me think about everything, I am not done talking to you about this. Your 'sorry' is not going to cut anything. I need to go back as soon as I can though, I will help you sort things out here."

"I don't need your help, but whenever you are ready, your son and daughter are ready to meet you." She said emphasizing each and every word in that sentence. She voice was quivering and strong and the same time. "We got to start somewhere." She added.

He looked at her a bit unsure, he didn't want to shock them or make them feel confused, that's the reason he had only looked at them from a distance even though his whole body was urging him to hold them and hug them tightly in his embrace and tell them who he was, and what they meant to him.

Swetha was saying something and Manvi was explaining her back something, but Virat, he was in a daze, a bit nervous. He walked over slowly and stood by Manvi. He didn't know how they would react, he wanted them to like him and love him. She motioned him to walk inside the kids room. He looked at her hand and obeyed her silently.

Manvi closed the door looking at her friend who was fuming. Swetha didn't like the idea at all. She didn't understand why Manvi had to do all this now and how she could forgive him so easily.

"Ria is a bit reserved, Nikki is very friendly. Don't feel bad if they don't seem welcoming, its very new to them." Manvi whispered to Virat before she went and sat down beside the cute angels who were eyeing them both curiously.

Virat sat down opposite to them, leaving some distance in between. He scanned the room briefly; the walls of the room had bunnies on one side and a big spiderman on the other side. There was bunk bed with a small built-in ladder for the top bunk. On the ceiling were fluorescent stars and a crescent moon. There were also a lot of drawings pinned on the walls: rainbows, houses, castles with Ria's name and date on it in Manvi's writing. There was this drawing where she drew a house; outside the house was a big stick figure with long hair and two more small figures in either side of her, a boy and a girl.

There was a big fort in a corner and a small table with two little chairs opposite to each other. On a rack beside that, all sorts of story books, dolls and stuffed toys were neatly arranged in a different racks. There was a kids computer setup on a low table and a chart above it with time slots for each of them on a daily basis. Control freak, gasped Virat in his head. On the wall above it, in large letters was written Nikki and Ria as wall art. All around there were a lot of pictures, pictures from the day they were born, their first month, second month, first birthday and so on.

Manvi followed Virat's gaze moving around the walls of the room, certain things caught his attention more than others.

Nikki who was jumping around until then, suddenly became very quiet. Ria was looking from Manvi to Virat and back with wide sparky eyes. "Do you want to go and show him your drawing??" Manvi propped her up on her feet and gently nudged her towards Virat.

Ria walked up half way and looked back at her mom "Go baby, say 'Hi papa' and give him a hug." Manvi nodded at her lovingly.

At this point, Virat was controlling really hard to put his emotions inside him. He wanted to seem strong and normal to his daughter who was walking towards him for the very first time.

"Hi papa" Ria said slowly touching Virat's face with her tiny little hand.

Although he tried his best, a small tear escaped his eyes, "Hi sweetheart" Virat said in a sweet voice as she put her tiny little hands around his neck. "What do have in there?" he looked at her drawing, trying to make her comfortable.

"It's a rainbow, it has seven colors." she replied sweetly giving him her drawing.

"That's looks stunning and very colorful. What colors does it have?" he asked. She excitedly started pointing towards each color and naming it. "This is violet, This is indigo.." Virat put his hand around her and made her sit in his lap as she continued chattering away.

"Don't you want to say Hi?" Manvi asked Nikki. Nikki looked down stole a glance at Virat and Ria chatting cheerfully and said 'No.'

"Why not?" Manvi asked but Nikki didn't reply. She lifted him up in his arms and sat beside Virat and Ria. "Hello hero!" Virat looked at him fondly and tried to take his hand in his, but Nikki suddenly became very coy and covered himself with his mom's dupatta and avoided him. When Manvi pulled off her dupatta from his face, he hugged her tightly hiding his face in her dress.

"That's not polite Nikki." Manvi chided him.

"That's ok." Virat said smiling and pointing out that he was infact stealing glances at him periodically. "I was going to tell him all about my cartoon collection but I guess it can wait, right champ?"

Now, this gained his attention " What cartoons?" he asked finally looking at Virat.

"umm, mostly spiderman." Virat replied winking.

Listening to the word spiderman, extreme excitement dawned in. He jumped up from Manvi clapping. " I want to see them right now!!!!!"

"How about you give your old man a hug??? And I will tell you all about it." Virat bargained.

"Okay." Nikki replied beaming, he hopped up and jumped in Virat's hands. Virat pulled both his son and daughter in a tight embrace and gave them a kiss affectionately. This was the sweetest moment of his life, he looked at Manvi and they exchanged a small eye-lock. Her eyes reflected guilt and his a mixture of hurt and happiness. She cursed herself mentally How could you do this Manvi? How could you have been so selfish? How could you take this away from him and more importantly from the kids?

Awww...it was such a cute n emotional one...really lovd it...it was nice to see that manvi respondedin affirmation n the wy she handled the situation so maturely n positively!! Her frnd was a bit annoying but afterall she's her frnd n cares for her...n virat's urge to meet his children n the way u showed their convo was too cute...it was so emotional on virat's part specially!! Lovd it to the core!! Awesum!!
