NO IT ISN'T ILLEGAL!
Unwanted pregnancy, or when you don't want the baby because of your young age or some health problems - doctors give you full rights to abort the child but under certain rules and regulations!

It becomes illegal only when you have done it in need of male heir!

So in Jeevika's case, if she aborts child for Maanvi - Its Legal!

No Indian Law does not prohibit abortions- if you have good reason. However finding out the gender is ILLEGAL and then aborting it is also ILLEGAL. but if you have not found out the gender and are aborting it, because you were raped, the child or mother's health is at risk, etc ...its fine.

I don't know about Indian law, but in the Uk you can abort a child before 24 weeks and that is your own decision. Whether it be for medical reasons or other

I believe it's the same with the US.

Actually in the UK, to be eligable for an abortion, you must fulfill certain criteria:
- there is a significant chance of risk to the mental or physical health of the woman or existing children if the pregnancy is continued
- there is a great chance of the child being born with a disability/seriously handicapped
- if the woman's life is in danger
- two practicing doctors must approve of the decision

If we apply the British system, then in Jeevika's situation, an abortion would definitley not be legal as she doesn't fit the conditions, but not too sure what India's laws are.

I would expect them to be slightly more conservative than the UK, but at the end of the day, when have CVs actually decided to do anything that at all resembles reality in any way?
