PART-2

The Ganges was in its most terrifying form at this time of the year. The monsoons had already arrived in these parts. The holy, healing waters had turned dangerous, the currents had become really strong. Diving into these life threatening waves of the river could easily turn out to be suicidal. But Virat had far more important things or better to say people to care for besides his own self. Without thinking about the consequences he might have to face he plunged into the hungry waters of the otherwise life giving Ganga.

Seeing him dive into the river many passers-by halted in their tracks and reached the banks. By the time Virat came out of the water carrying an unconscious Manvi in his arms, quite a huge crowd had gathered to witness the scene; Quite an entertainment for them but equally displeasing for Virat. He had his eyes fixed on Manvi's face which had lost almost everything from beauty to peace excepting the innocence. Carrying her in his arms he realized that she had lost weight so much recently that he hardly felt her weight though maybe it was due to this very fact that she was floating in the water making it easier for him to find her in the tremendously strong currents'.. This realization about her weight loss changed the tears of tension that had been running down his cheeks into those of utter pain. He pledged to himself that now when she was in his arms, he would never ever let her go anywhere without him.

Placing Manvi's almost lifeless body on the plain ground Virat turned her head to the side, allowing the swallowed water to drain from her mouth and nose. In order to enable her respire artificially, Virat sealed his mouth with Manvi's which sent a shiver down his spine. He quickly brushed away the distracting thoughts and focused on what he was doing. Soon Manvi started breathing shallowly but her eyes refused to open due to extreme fatigue. Her feeble hands spontaneously clutched his shirt when Virat lifted her again and took her to his jeep. On reaching Manvi's home, Virat tiptoed into the house, with Manvi still in the safety of his arms, afraid of facing Beeji. But he found only Badi Beeji quietly sitting on the sofa at the hall. She gestured to Virat that no one was in the house excepting her and questioned with her eyes about Manvi. Virat answered back with an assuring look through his eyes and took Manvi to her room, all the while thanking his stars for being lucky enough to not have to answer anyone's pointed questions.

He narrated the entire set of events that took place at Gangaghat to Badi Beeji while drying a sleeping Manvi's hair with a towel. Badi beeji smiled affectionately at the couple silently praying to God for always keeping these two together. After making Manvi comfortable, Virat went to change. When he returned to check on Manvi, he found her sitting and staring out of the window. "English channel cross karneka practice kar rahi thi kya?" , Virat spoke sitting down beside her. He purposely lightened the entire situation
realizing how much his partner had suffered these two months. "Nahi tumhe ek training de rahi thi life guard banne ki" ,Manvi replied making a face which slowly turned into a smile. Virat stared at her smiling face. It was quite evident that this was the first time in these two months that she was smiling and this hard earned smile just took his breath away. He had imagined this smile day and night these two months. A tear drop escaped his eyes secretly as a sign of the painstaking separation of these two months. Manvi turned her head towards him and immediately got lost in the pool of emotions the eyes in front of her showed.

How long they had been staring deep into each other's soul through their eyes they didn't know. The prevailing silence was interrupted by Virat's soulful request, "Ghar chalo Manvi". Coming out of her trance and again looking away she replied, "Zabardasti hai kya??" "Haan hai na . Tumhe ana hi hoga, Manvi. Kisi ke liye na sahi toh kam se kam apni hone wali bhanji ya bhanje ke liye toh chalo" , answered Virat. "Bhanji'.matlab main maasi'.di 'Virat", replied Manvi unable to frame a proper sentence out of sheer joy and excitement. As a reaction to her unfathomable joy she hugged the nearest object at hand ---Virat, bothering the least about her resolve going down the drain. Virat quickly replied, "Yes Maanvi. Tum maasi or bhabi maa banne wali hai". He didn't want the awkwardness to creep up once again like the last time they had hugged each other at the hospital in Mumbai. They enjoyed this moment of happiness in their own sublime way. "Mujhe abhi ke abhi Jeevika di se milna hai Virat. Please le chalo mujhe," Manvi pleaded like a small child asking for a balloon at the fair. Virat could not help himself from smiling at this childish behavior of the love of his life. "Toh chalo phir", Virat replied grabbing her hand.

On stepping inside the compound of the Vadhera Mansion through the huge gate , Manvi suddenly felt a pang of guilt in her heart. Her eyes filled up at the remembrance of the last time when she had turned a deaf ear to everyone's pleadings and walked out vowing to herself never to return again. "apne pichli bar ki bure karmo ke bare mein soch rahi ho bandariya?" asked Virat earning a glare from Manvi. She found the house strangely very well decorated like the time of Jeevika's wedding. "Shaadi hai kya kisiki?" Manvi enquired out of curiosity. "Haan hain na'",Virat trailed off. "Ab kiski shaadi??" Manvi asked highly confused. The reply she received shocked Manvi to the core. "HUM DONO KI'", Virat calmly replied with one of his trademark smirks plastered on his face'
