Manvi tossed in her bed for the 78th time. She was counting. She couldn't help it. All those trainings had her concious alert all the times. It sometimes freaked her out how she counted over 3000 seconds while sitting there bored and having nothing to do at her sister's house. Virat had showed her room after she brought her luggage back. It was huge, with everything she needed, more than she needed. There as California King sized bed, A LED Television, one leather black couch and A black wood dressing table with granite top. There were other small decors like a statue of an Indian lady in a dancing pose, a Chinese Vase on a marble table top and so on. It was all so luxurious. But there was one thing that wasn't there, and she wanted it the most. Windows. Again, instead of a window, there was a white screen on a wall. He asked her to connect her cameras there. She had made a face and had another set of banters with him.
Manvi got up frustrated. Her throat dry and raspy. She looked around but there was no jug of water.
"Chep ke Shahi bangle ke shahi room mein ek glass paani bhi nahi hai! How predictable!" She slowly stepped on the thick carpet, and walked over to the door. She turned the knob and peeked outside. Darkness. That's all she could see. She bit her lip and slowly stepped outside. It took only a moment before the terrifying shrills filled her ears as the bright red laser lights started shooting across the room each crossing another building a web around her. "What the f-?" She whispered against the chaos. She lifted her hand to touch the laser light.
"Don't touch it!" She barely heard his voice through all the sound, but it was too late. One touch sent terror down her spine. Her head started to spin and her body constricted. The tip of of her finger that had touched the innocent light now burned like set in fire. Her hands unconsciously went up to her head and she pressed down on her temples with her palms. It was too much to bare. The laser lights around, the deadly sirens and his distant voice trying to get her attention was becoming a blur. Next, the only thing she could hear was her own heart beat. She felt herself loose the battle and let herself fall. Last thing she remembered was falling in his strong and protective arms.
"Manvi? Can you hear me? Manvi?" She could hear him. Distant, and yet so close. "Manvi! I am sorry!" She heard him sigh. She wanted to answer him, but her body was like a numb skin. She felt nothing for a while, and than she felt her head heavier than usual, her body aching and some of her fingers burning. She hissed. And just like that, his palm was against her face. "Manvi? You okay?" With a great effort, her eyes flickered open to stare into the dark brown orbs. She slowly got up and he helped. She rested her head against the headboard. "Tum thik ho?"
"Do hazaar volt ke jhatke ke baad? Of course! Mujhe kya hona hai?" She replied. Her voice a bit tired but the sarcasm evident.
"Rule number seven!" His voice took the dominance and she looked at him amused. "Don't harass your opposition. Let it be a laser light, or a terrorist.
"What are rules one thru seven?" She frowned. His dark orbs bored into hers.
"You will know." He replied. "Soon!"
She watched him as he got up and moved towards the door. "By the way," He turned to look at her,"Tum itni raat ko bahar kya kar rahi thi?"
"Who kya hai na Chep, aadhi raat ko mujhe akele ghumne ka man karta hai, toh mein wahi karne gayi thi!" She answered. He watched her as she sulked looking away. "Pyaas lagi thi mujhe!"
"You know you have water in your room right?" He asked. She looked at him frowning. He shook his head and walked over to her bed side. He opened the bottom drawer of her night stand, and there was a huge pack of little water bottles.
"Haan toh mujhe sapna aayega ki yahan par hain? Batana chahiye tha na?" She retorted. He face-palmed. She shrugged and took the water bottle out to drink some.
"Sorry meri maa! Galti ho gayi hai mujhse! Ab mein jau, I am sleepy!" He said and as on cue, yawned. She shrugged and got under the blanket. He walked out, switching her night-lamp off.
"Yes sir. We will be on it. No problem, I will keep you reported sir!"
Manvi heard the muffled voice and slowly opened her eyes. Her instincts alert at once. She realized where she was. She looked at the time. The digital clock read four forty five. She sighed and threw off her covers. If four years ago had anyone asked her to wake up before eight, she would have kicked the person. But that was a different life. Manvi smirked at herself. At her life.
She quickly showered and after putting on her green suit, went down for breakfast. She walked to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator and took out the orange juice carton and poured it out in a paper glass. Putting it back she turned around to find no juice there. She sighed heavily.
"Really Virat?" She said spinning to her left. He was a good spy, but she wasn't that dumb. She could feel the presence if a person is close enough. He was sitting on the counter, in a white shirt and a very dark blue leather jacket over it. If not for the brightness of the light, it could be easily mistaken for black.
"Mujhe bhukh lagi hai!" He shrugged. She walked over to him and snatched the glass out of his hand, surprised at him giving up instantly. She ignored his gaze on her and took a sip of her juice. "Juice ke right side pe kyat ha?"
"Hersheys syrup." She answered his sudden question.
"How many fruits are in the refrigerator?"
"Five types. Apple, orange, pear, banana and watermelon." She said.
"There is a milk carton in there. Basic information?"
"Dairy for You Milk Corp. two percent, Vitamin D." She said. He raised his eyebrow impressed.
"We are going to Belgium." He said, as she went to dispose the glass.
"Kab?" She asked.
"Kal subah chaar baje." She looked at him confused. "Aryan's bodyguard was killed in Moscow last night, and there is a chaos out there. Aryan is in Belgium for a day. Maya can sell the diamond anytime now. There is a lot more to these than Jay knows, or told us. We need to dig deep.
"Who killed the bodyguard?" She asked. He walked out of the kitchen, and she followed him. He picked up his iPad and showed her the message he received that morning. There were some pictures of the dead bodyguard, and of Aryan.
"Alright than. Belgium it is." Manvi said and they both looked at each other. Smirking.
