I was thinking the same. Sakshi Goenka's wardrobe looks awesome when compared to Durga's yuck clothes and their colors.

I wanted to make a long post on it .. Ohhh God .. she is a Bong Girl right n Bong girls will just stay million yards away from such flashy tacky saris .. Bongs has a very decent choice .. they love classy n elegant looks .. no sparkly loud dressing is so not Bong/Kolkata thing

After Mata Rani deity this is another annoying thing to show .. CVs plzzz have some background check

Stick to the objective of the thread. Its about why Durga wear such loud dresses and apparently it has nothing to do with the culture. To be frank no one nowhere will wear such dresses.

Please refrain from making such comments because you just might end up hurting the sentiments of others.

P.S: I am a bong myself.

I guess I have not mentioned any other culture or passed any visible or invisible comment on my post .. my post was entirely based on how Durga's dressing shouldn't look like as a Bengali bride/woman .. there is no need to find any unintended and non-existing meaning/perspective of this comment .. Just a request. We are already having too negative posts in the forum as you might have noticed. 😊 My intention was not to hurt you or any one else here but I am sorry if it was done unintentionally.

I have read your post and completely agree its not Bengali by any standards. As a matter of fact the makers made no attempt in showing Bengali culture anywhere in the show. Except for the police uniform and a few Bengali words here and there the show has nothing to tell us about the Bengali culture.

Also the marriage was neither Bengali nor Rajasthani. It was one filmy wedding as we always watch in other shows.

As I have already told you her dressing style is not used by any culture in India. Its not about Bengal or Bengali girls alone.

Thank you.

Theres nothing Bengali in this show, although Dayal Thakur I suppose is a Bengali, except for Durga calling him Baba.

Dayal calls her Beta, no Bong dad ever calls his daughter Beta. Mostly by her nickname or Mamoni or some affectionate term like that.

No Bong rituals or customs have been shown, Durga didnt wear a Bengali bride's sari or mukut (head ornament), though it appears shes wearing a lot of shankha- paulas in her hand (usually they wear one pair of each) 😆

And its also true that Bong women usually do have a sophisticated style/fashion sense, wearing elegant tangails, kanthas, silks and so on, but original Durga was brought up in the US and Bong girls in US dont dress in Bong style but more in general Indian style, in lehengas, salwars and nylon saris.

I am Bengali and I like to wear bright colors too but Durga's parrot green/teal combo sari was really too much! Its hurting the eyes! 😆
