I feel like if Payal was the main character (instead of Durga/Nitya), the logical next step in the story would be for Dev to marry Payal, so she could have a guardian for life, etc. Dev seems like the type of guy who would marry a friend in need, but he's so heavily paired with Nitya in the show that I doubt the writers will ever consider Dev marrying Payal.

Dev calls Payal sister and she calls him bhaiya.
Stop pairing them still!

Dev is so weak and spineless that he cannot be guardian of a wounded girl like Payal. She needs a strong support. She needs people who can care for her on priority than just use her as an excuse to reach others. She needs someone who is not from Goenka clan and can help her start afresh in every sense. Dev is not the one even if there was no Nitya and no sibling bond with Payal.

I'm confusing..not sure..I watching episode 24th July with English subtitle again moment agos, when Durga was in secret room, she had a dream with Dev...I don't think Payal call Dev 'bhayia' but she did call him 'Mr Dev' 3 times...because I read with english subtitle...
I hope you'll be not panic, dear.
Please I ask you...which did you see episodes Dev call Payal as 'sister'?

In tonight's episode also Dev said to Payal "tumhare Dev bhaiya sab sambhal lenge".
They share sibling type bond.

In dream episode also Payal had called him Dev bhaiya.

Not Mr Dev.

Firstly, dont try to understand the Indian culture with the help of subtitles. Subtitles may or may not give you the exact translation. The exact translation is obviously not possible every time.

In western culture siblings use names to address each other irrespective of their age. In india it is nothing less than a crime to not refer your elder brother as Bhaiya or elder sister as Didi.

Calling Bhaiya or Didi is an integral part of Indian culture and as such it has to be maintained.

There have been ample of times when Payal called him Bhaiya. This is how it is in India.

In India even unknown person are to be addressed as Bhaiya, didi, mausi, aunty etc. We dont really say Mr.X or Mrs. Y in our day to day conversation. Even the milkman is addressed as Dudh wale Bhaiya. That explains why every servant in the Indian series is called Ramu Kaka.

In Kolkata or rather in Bengal it is called dada and didi. That is why Sourav Ganguly is called Dada here and Mamta Bannerjee is better known as Didi.

To change the whole system here in India because two people are to be paired is a strange idea. BUT don't worry Indian makers are quite generous with such things. They will change every existing tradition or custom if it ensures good TRPs

Dev will be a liability for whosoever he marries..afterall he is a goenka with selfish needs and nil concern for those who he claims to care for, like payal..moreover payal and he pretty much share a bro-sis bond which i dnt think shud be sullied with the romance angle..
