For a matter of fact..Architects are not supposed to know anything to everything and moreover an architect's design is very confidential. Every other architect will not get through it. Dev's main pertinent to go to Durga's house was to find Nitya's diary...thus it was just that he was busy focusing on Diary than any secret door.
