Hey everybody. I'm Fia, and this is my first post at this forum. I haven't been a very active user here lately but thought of giving my two cents regarding this show since I have been following it from the first episode and was instantly intrigued.

I had completely given up on daily soaps since a while but Ek Hasina Thi brought me back to watching them again. The storyline was different and interesting so naturally, I had to give it a chance. And I'm glad I did.

Rape is a very sensitive issue. And a serious crime. Many people think that murder is the most cruel crime. But in my opinion, it's rape. Because nothing can be more cruel and vicious than ripping someone off their pride, respect, dignity, happiness and their emotional stability. Whether the victim is female or male. And yes, there are many male rape victims as well. It may not kill your body, but it definitely kills your soul and leaves you only as a breathing mass of flesh. Rape is as serious an offense as any. But unfortunately, the penalty for it is far less than that of murder. 7 years is not a punishment, but a minor road bump in the criminal's life. At the end of it, he still walks out as a free man. And who can guarantee that he won't do it again?

Such is the story with Shaurya Goenka. Even though he hasn't been convicted of his crimes yet, we can easily see that he has absolutely no remorse of his actions. Nor will he ever will. He is a classic case of a dog's tail. No matter what life's lesson he is presented with, he will never learn. He wouldn't understand love and kindness if it were to hit him right in the face. Best example of that are his own parents. It's their love for their son that drives them to great lengths to protect even the most hideous of his actions. But Shaurya only cares about them as long as his own ass is being saved. Parents play a huge role in the character building of a child. I think it's safe to say now that Sakshi and Rajnath Goenka are prime examples of the fact that money cannot buy you everything. Putting their crimes aside, they are just like any other parents who want the best of everything for their child, to see him/her achieve the success that they dream for them. But in doing so, they blurred the line between right and wrong very easily. Which makes them equally responsible for all of Shaurya's crime as Shaurya himself is for committing them.

Durga/Nitya is caught in this web of deceit and manipulation to avenge her sister Payal. She is definitely an admirable character and I love to see her kicking some (metaphorical) ass in this show. Hopefully she won't get carried away and blur the lines between right and wrong herself in order to bring justice to her family. Because two wrongs do not make a right. And when it comes to protecting your loved ones, it is very easy to forget what one should do and what one wants to do.

The main concept of this show revolves around rape and the people who get affected due to it along with the victims. Which was a good move on the CVs part to have covered. Because not only does this offense leave a physical impact, but also a mental, emotional and sociological one. Along with Payal, her family and friends (in this case, Divya and her father) also went through this trauma in one way or another. Which makes Ek Hasina Thi not just a daily soap, but a visual message and reality check for the audience to understand the true impact of what sexually assaulted women and their families have to go through at the hands of the culprit and the society that refuses to acknowledge the depth and severity of this crime. Till now, the makers have done a good job at it, and I'm hoping that they'd continue to do so even after the Goenka's are punished for their deeds because I would hate to see this show turn into some mushy romance saga with the saas-bahu storyline. That's just not the essence of this show and never will be.

In the end, all I'd say is that Shaurya, Sakhsi and Rajnath are not just Durga/Nitya's enemies, but also each others. Because when you embrace evil, it embraces you back with double the intensity. Relations don't matter when it comes to saving your own neck. And we've all seen the Goenka's being selfish when it comes to their own goals. Who knows, maybe they themselves contribute in the downfall of each other and Durga will just have to lie back with a bowl of popcorn and enjoy watching her enemies suffer bit by bit at the hands of each other 😉

Brilliant post 👍🏼

Agree with u..
Rape is a bigger crime than murder..
A murderer kills the victim, while a rapist leaves his victim to die a death everyday.
Specially in a society like ours, where people look down upon the victim than loathing the rapist.
And moreover, getting the rapist behind the bars is a big deal, since once the victim goes to the court, her character is assasinated more n more.

Although I dont believe that a woman's pride, dignity, ''Izzat'' lies between her legs, but such is our society, that they make sure, even if the victim is strong enough to deal with it,they never let them get back to normal, with their taunts n all..

Only punishing the rapists wont change anything,we need to educate people..

Hey!🤗
I must say brilliant post.. 👏You've put this very well👍🏼

And i agree the CVs are way more smart than we thought.. this drama is a reality check to those who don't realize how the rape victims, and their families feel. And educate the society who taunts the victim..

And about Shurya;what you said. I agree..

I sometime feel sorry for Shurya's mum and dad.{Well i shouldn't since they are at fault as well but still}🤢 Got a jerk son who sooo good looking...but inside a beast 🤢

7 years isn't enough..i agree with u the rapist wil never learn..🤢
Rapist should be a life time.😡

Apart from that good post! 👍🏼

Agree with everything you said!
Rape is worse than murder as that person who is raped has to live with that mark of disgrace and shame forever. And it's even worse when the culprit is walking around free, enjoying his life like he's the king of this world.

I believe the Goenkas will bring their own downfall, Durga/Nitya just has to be a catalyst that's it. I hope that she pulls back when the time is right before she gets too entangled in this whole mess.
