Apt title!

Something Wonderful- ShraMan arranged marriage, where they'll be like whats the thing between us (tere mere beech mein kya hai??) and they'll find it something wonderful☺️
Something wonderful they share. Definitely.

The Thing Called Love - Childhood bonding & all. I planned to write the story like "they'll get married then will be separated but something won't let them fall apart ever that is the thing called love". Thats why this is the title😳
Superb!
Something won't. ..we won't. ..😉

PS: I feel nostalgic..Feeling like again start writing on ShraMan❤️
Please do !❤️

Good post btw...
Thank you. And thanks for replying! 😃

Hi Lara!

So, the question is -- What made you choose that particular title for your story?

It is really weird actually, how I chose the title Bitter Sweet Symphony. And it's not any different from how I choose all the other story titles of mine.

First of all I'm not a plotter, I'm more of a pantser.

When a plot possess me, it is in the form of a general idea. Separate and random glimpses of twists and major scenes that I think will be awesome flashes through my mind all day and night. At some point, I think up what the opening scene will be, the ultimate hook. I don't write it down immediately, or if I want to I just write a few lines that I don't want to forget later.
Insight of a writers mind !
Therefore, a well thought over plot!
Intriguing from beginning to end.

Then I let things cook in my mind, and listen to music, I love songs... all kinds of songs -- old and new and anything. And while the story is cooking in my mind, I also find myself focusing on a particular song... the one that I can't get out of my mind no matter how much I try. Like ringing in the ear they stay always. The lyrics tug at my heart, and I don't want to let go of it, I keep the title of the song, I soak in the theme and pour it down into my stories.

That's why all my stories have titles of songs.
Song inspired! ❤️

I completely depend on music while I write. Tune and words become one, separating them is impossible.

I know the lyrics don't match the story's real theme entirely, but it's the emotions that matters more. We can always bend and break words and meanings of them.
We can.

That's how I named Bitter Sweet Symphony, the new version is Bitterly Sweetly. Undertone of the song is still there, weaving is still going on, I don't know when I will be satisfied enough to stop it.
A perfect symphony! Who would want it to stop.

So, that's it.

I know it's quite a long answer. But hell will freeze over when I will learn to speak less. 😆
I am sure, some will definitely take a cue. Your are an inspiration to many.

Brilliant idea this thread is. 👏
Hat's off to who asked this question and my insanely tight hugs to the brain from where it came. 🤗
🤗
Thank for sharing.
Hope you're taking good care of yourself ❤️

😆

So how it works is that I write a piece and then decide what it needs to be called depending on the feel that they give. The story is written and read and the title is decided at the fag end.
Feels !!
They have those feels !!

Kinara was the most casually chosen titles of all of my stories. The title struck my mind only once IF gave me a prompt while posting the story , to add a title. I actually then added a dialouge having the word Kinara to endorse the title.😆
I remember I remember!

..eventually I concluded that the piece could not have been named better.
Indeed !

Two souls who were drifting apart and yet hoping for a common shore to land on.
ShraMan ❤️

Goodbye Shravan was a last minute decision as well. I had realised how many people had avoided the story fearing a heartbreaking tale of Shravan and Sumo.
The first chap was like... ye nahi ho sakta feels.😳

I later on received scores of pm s telling me how they had pictured a completely different story due to the title. Incidentally, Suman was never my protagonist even when I had the idea...it was always Seher. So I gave a title that explained her renouncing the last semblance of hurt she associated with Shravan.
Seher! ⭐️
May be that's the reason I love the story so much.😛
My undying love for Suman 😆

Likhavat entries again had their titles pinned to them in the last moment depending on feel that they gave me.

I like those feels!

I'll give a general gist of how I come up with names and its similar in a way to Lara's strategy.
Great minds !

I have prompts generally, really vague ideas. I let them develop in my brain, I imagine many different scenarios and then when I have a better idea of what I'm planning to do, a name pops khud se. Cause my names are very in sync with the update, the name itself is enough to give an inclining of the update that follows.
Yes, they are. Qayamat is giving me nervous jitters, already...

Alfaaz happened cause words are important, said or unsaid.
The said and the unsaid. ❤️

And that's what I wanted to target on this piece. Inception of Alfaaz happened 3 months before I put the prompt up. The actual prompt was a few words, viz:

Apology
Skype
College
Prom
Ragging
Topping
Business
Oxford
Fight
Pain
Longing
Happily ever after
Sigh! !
I am up for a roller coaster ride, if it leads to a happily ever after 😛

Between all this Alfaaz the name struck. And you have seen exactly how I've built on this prompt.
And like how !⭐️

I won't give details of all cause generally its the prompt that determines my piece name :D
Keep getting those prompts 😉

About Alation though, I had used this word in the poetry of Alaahida.
I remember.

I had fallen in love with that word. As a new year's resolution, I had decided to write something towards giving hope. This was November I believe, early. When I spoke to Nik about it, I told her I'm planning a poetry book, she flipped needless to say. Too happy she got. And while discussing what it would have, and what it would contain of, Alation struck.
Perfect it is !⭐️

I hope this is the answer you were looking for 🤗
Totally 🤗

A reader I am so I read most of the ShraMan Write-ups and Fantastic ones they'll are..but somewhere I always wanted to read something solely about Sumo n her feelings... Even though I felt a disconnect with her character in the last episodes of the show but she is one of my favorite telly character.
I know I know. 😉

Her character was left unexplored somewhere..where as it isn't the case with Shravan. (I realised whatever I wrote, it was all about Sumo😛.)
It was!😆
Suman was left unexplored... Shravan was left rebuked.

Imperfectly perfect...I honestly don't know how n Why did I write it in the first place. 😆
So, that for once I read a closed post 😆and pm my comment 😆

It was that one incident in my mind n Sumo looked perfect for that character and I weaved whatever came to my mind at the time.
About the title, I agree with Zoya here. It came instantly to me.
I like it !

Shikayatein.. Well the theme of Likhavat was rain n Anger and I wanted Sumo to let out her anger or frustration. So...bas ho gaya 😛
Chaa gaye 😊
The title, again it was an instant one.. As it was all about shikayatein. Deep rooted!
Bang on!⭐️

As for whatever else I wrote, same thing happened. 😊
Got it !😊

I hope It answers your question.. Thesis or not, your problem😆
I love to read !😆

@blue..
Okay... I have not written much but whatever is there I shall tell you about the titles of them...

but let me inform you first that I have been obsessed about their confession sequence, so all of hem revolve around that only

Let's Start with the first one... "The Confession: Three Shots"

well the Idea came in my head when Shravan insulted Sumo in front of their whole class (Reunion sequence)... the Idea was pretty simple and so was the title, as I could not think about any other title.

the second one was a One Shot named "Love Challenge"
If you have noticed, Sumo always responded to the challenges, she loved them, so in this shot, she threw a challange Shravan's way and from there the name came.

the third one... "The Birthday Gift"
well the forum was abuzz with the birthday of Namik and Shravan...so the birthday gift idea came from there and hence the gift was quite unique to say the least ... the piece got named as "The Birthday Gift".

The fourth one... "Doubts" was suggested to me by "girlgunjan" since I cannot come up with a name. The idea for this came after that periscope chat of Namik where he mentioned about an after marriage wala track.

and the fifth and the last one (at least for now) "My First Love Letter". This was supposed to be a One Shot where Shravan finds out the first love letter written for him. hence, the name. The idea of that love letter came because he did not saw those letters written by Sumo to him, safely stored in that ever elusive Memory Box.

Generally, the names come when my mind has an idea or a sequence which I cannot throw out of my mind. that forms the basis and starting of the story, which later becomes the name. the sequence plays out in my mind in different ways but the basic block or its foundation remains the same only then I write. since, the story revolves around that thought the same thought becomes the name.

phew...that was long... i think I got carried away... as all the pieces are very dear to me...hope this answers your question...😊

AnOptimist gave you 'Doubts' 😆

Finally! !😆
Story behind the title !!

Ek Lamha Hamara:

I had thought of naming it 'Zindagi tu hi bata'... if you've read the story you would have noticed, all the couplets start with ZTHB...( except the one written for Shravan) and the story ends with it too.
The story was written from Suman's pov by and large. Her looking at her life... more like questioning it !!
Hence, I tried maintaining a theme.

The idea was to rekindle their friendship and bring ShraMan on same page after everything that had conspired between them!!
That one moment( lamha) where they were ready to give themselves a chance... the leap faith as they call it !!
And if ShraMan are on same page rest will be history !!😉

But when I was about to send the pm to Zoya... more like was copy pasting the story in the message box,.. I felt ZTHB sounded open ended... Answer to the question might the positive or negative!!
I am not really fond of open ended things...I like closures!!
So, I changed the title to ELH which I felt was more definite...conclusive! ! The life changing moment !!
Hence, the title!

Kaun Sumo:

I had this plot in mind for likhavat 2.0 ... Reconciliation and a winter night! ! Therefore, we had two reconciliations...Shravan and Ramu Kaka and ShraMan !... And a winter night ofc!
I couldn't find enough time to complete it so,...
Nevertheless it did happen ...😳
And I didn't change the set up because I wanted Shravan to close that window...😆 My favourite moment !

This one is about Shravan's tryst with Suman Tiwari !!
Ever since he had returned she had surprised him in many ways !! And he was in awe with the new version until the cv's chose to take a different route..!!

This story was from Shravan's pov... His fear that he can never be priority #1 in anybody's life... he is not meant to be ! His mother...father and Sumo all had given him enough reasons to think like that !
I thought one way to make him realise, that he holds the top spot in Suman's life is if he see her choosing them over something that holds great importance in her life.
Hence, the pct stunt 😛
Plus, Ramu Kaka also had to realise Sumo is no Nimmo! And she is more than what everyone thinks she is !!

Still, I would not have taken this route if they had not shown her planning to pack her bags and shift to Mumbai post her marriage with no thoughts of pct!
May be... we thought... Shravan thinks... it was her top most priority but actually it wasn't !!

So, it not just Shravan's but writers tryst with Sumo as well... hence, the title!!

Than bazm-e-Sukhan... bazm is mehfil. ..sukhan is poetry ... title is self explanatory!
Afsaana-dar-Afsaana... Afsaana means story and it's OS collection... hence the title!
Fehrist...means list/ index... again it's self explanatory!

Long post as IF has eaten up some 800 posts 😆
