It was a fresh morning and Mr.Shravan Malhotra was woken up by a sweet tinkling noise that probably had its source attached to a women's ornament .Curious and wanting to know where that voice was coming from, Shravan tossed of his blanket on one side and lazily rose up.
"Sumooo,sunooo"He called out for his wife as he traced the side of the bed on which she had slept at night.He was about to stand up and look for her in the washroom when his eyes met hers in the closet.
There sat his wife,as he proudly called her, in a beautiful dark red saare,wet hair carefully placed on her right shoulder and red-golden bangles adorning her wrist.
'Ahhhaa'He thought,'So this was where the noise had come from that had awaken him up from his peace sleep,not like he was complaining though'
Quietly he walked towards the closet not letting out a single creek of a sound as Sumo was busy outlining her eyes with kohl followed by blush on her cheek.
"Morning Jaan" He whispered against her ear as he hugged her from behind and placed a soft kiss just below her ear.
"Shravaaan"Sumo let out a moan "Uth gaye tum?Jao jaake fresh hojao,I will get you your coffee"
"Uhmmm"
"Shravan chodo mujhe,stop being such a baby.Leave me and get to start your day.Aaj case hai?Remember?"Sumo said trying to release herself from her husband's grip.
"No! Pehele mujhe yeh bataoo ke yeh sab kya hai?Why are you decking up so much today,kisi ko daarne ka plan hai kya?Khuni Churail"Shravan laughed,on a joke he thought was funny to himself.
"Bhaad mein jaoo tum,nahi rehna bhooka tumhare liye"Suman pushed Shravan aside and dashed out of their room.
'Bhooka?Mere liye?But kyun?'He thought'Oh you idiot!' And it hit him that today was Karva Chauth and of course Sumo had told him about it atleast 10 times yesterday and of course he had forgotten it all by the time he had slept."Idiot"He murmered to himself.
Shravan waited until Sumo arrived. After,what felt like an eternity ,Sumo came back to the room sulking.
"Sumoo mein mazaak kar raha tha yaar,You look really beautiful.Sorry Sumo"Shravan lifted up Sumo's chin.
When for some time Sumo didn't utter a single word Shravan realized that something serious had struck her.
"Sumoo"Shravan lifted up her chin "Kya hua baba?"
But Suman did not utter a single word and continued to sulk.
"Aoo baitho,aur bato kya baat hai?If its about what I did in the morning then I am really sorry,tum jaanti ho na I was just joking.Sorry Baba"
"Shravan,yeh baat nahi hai"
"Toh?"
"Voh actually mein neeche gayi thee Preeti se milne toh mujhe Kamini Chachi mile,Unhene mujhe dekha toh she said that I was looking really beautiful but doo cheezon ke kami thee"
"Kya?"
"Ek wedded women ke joh two most important signs hote hai,Sindoor and Mangalsutra aur meine toh ek bhi nahi pehna hai"
"Aree yaar Sumo,itte see baat?Chalo come with me."Shravan dragged her to the closet mirror .
"Ab close your eyes" Saying so Shravan shifted Suman's hair on one side of her shoulder.
Suman felt some little weight on her neck and immediately opened her eyes and lifted up the pendant, it was then she realized that it was a mangalsutra,that Shravan was tying.
"Shravaaan"Sumo called him out in a soft tone."Yeh kab?"
"Sumo mujhe pata hai ke tum kya chahati and so mein aur maa kal he jaake yeh le aye thee.Abb shhh"Saying so he picked up the container which contained vermillion and filled Suman's parting.
"Ab I don't want any rona dhona or any sulking.Promise?"
"Shraavaaan" Suman said with her eyes teary and engulfed Shravan in a warm,tight hug silently crying out of happiness ,her head resting just above his heart.
"Aree baba"Shravan cupped her face and leaned in,giving a soft kiss on her forehead."I Love You Sumo"
"I Love You Too"

"Chalo Suman beta tum bhi mehndi lagwaalo"Nirmala called out for Suman who was busy cooking for the males of the house.
"Jee Maa ayi"
It was 12 in the afternoon and Malhotra Mansion was being decorated for the party that was to be held in the evening and in the middle sat two ladies who were busy applying heena to the Malhotra Ladies.
Suman sat smiling as the lady applied heena on her right hand.
"Bhaiyaa yaar this is not done,you have to accompany me to the court"Pushkar cribbed.
"Chotte I am sorry yaar,meine kaha naa bohut important meeting hai,nahi toh mein pakka tujhe Mrs.Sharma ke case me assist karta"
"Areeey Areeey Shravan Puttar,Pushkar Puttar kya hua?" Kamini said as she walked towards Preeti and Vandy with a bowl of lemmon juice and sugar to be applied on their mehndi.
"Mummaa Dekho naa bhaiyaa kooo vo.."Pushkar began to say but was cut by Shravan.
"Areey Chachi aap chote ko samjhao na.Imortant meeting mein jaana hai and yeh hai kee zid par hai"
"Shravan puttar mana ke Pushkar zidd kar raha hai but joh too kar raha hai voh bhi galat hai"
"Matlab?"Asked a confused Shravan
"Matlab ke tumhari votti idhar baith ke tumhare liye mehdi lagva rahi hai and tum ho ke tumhe meeting ke padi hai.Kuch Bhi Anviyen!Varun aur Pushkar bhi toh baithe they Vandy or Preeti puttar ke saath"
Suman looked up at Shravan with hope in her eyes,waiting for a yes' as an answer while everyone just smiled looking at the confused Shravan who glanced at his watch and then Suman.
"Sorry Chachi"Shravan said as he walked towards his Sumo who sat getting heena applied on her left hand now.
"Sorry Sumo"Shravan pecked her lips,earning a gasp from the lady itself including the whole Malhotra family present there.
"I hate you!Khadoos"Suman murmured while Shravan just smiled and walked outside the mansion.
